I imagine could get a morph that pretty much just 0's all the curvy parts of the model flat, that way the entire body will grow into shape using this method. Should pretty much solve buttocks creasing and everything else too. Kinda feel like Daz should just do this by default when you run a sim from pose, as it's a easy natural way to solve clothing stretch.

@RaukoDaz3D 4 дня назад
If everything has been installed into the correct places and the support files that are normally included in asset files are there .. you should be able to right click on the “Content Library” tab in Daz, select “Content DB Maintenance“ and you’ll see the option to “Reimport Metadata” - select that and hit Accept. It should update Smart Content - if everything is there as I mention. This is me taking these instructions off the Daz Forums : I never do it myself as I don’t bother with Smart Content (I’m old school, dude!) .. so I can’t comment on how well it works or even if it does work - so do under your own guidance and if it Fs things up - blame the forum guys!

How do you deal with white surfaces that become unrealistically bright when you point a light source at them. Is there another way to fix this rather than having to change the surface colour to an ugly shade of gray?
@RaukoDaz3D
@RaukoDaz3D 5 дней назад
A white surface is always going to reflect the most light .. can't get around that .. but you can mitigate it somewhat by either changing the angle that the light hits it or the angle of the camera looking at it. If you want to get more Daz technical about it - you can select the object in the Scene and then look in the surfaces tab for the glossiness and specular settings - sometimes even just the slightest bit of gloss / specular can cause a white surface to shine bright. Look to playing around with "Glossy Reflectivity" (decreasing) and Glossiness Roughness" (increasing) and the similar Specular settings. This might solve your issue but it also might need a combination of things .. even in the worse case, sadly, making the surface slightly grey if these other ways don't give the results you want. EDIT : Did you sort out your "posing" problem? I've got the notification about your comment on the Partial Posing .. but somehow RU-vid won't let me see the comment on the actual video ..

What is the UTC offset option for? Is there any sense in time zone here if we set exact longitude and latitude so the timezon should be known for DAZ automatically?
@RaukoDaz3D
@RaukoDaz3D 5 дней назад
The UTC is for adjusting the time-zone as you guessed .. I don't think Daz is sophisticated enough to adjust for the timezone when you enter the Lon / Lat .. so if you want exact, then you'll have to set the UTC manually ..

@RaukoDaz3D
@RaukoDaz3D 6 дней назад
Ha! It does work. Bug or feature? Hhhhmm .. I don't know .. With HDRI - we have "Dome and Scene" and "Dome Only" .. It doesn't make any sense therefore to only have "Sun-Sky Only" ... Why not "Sun-Sky and Scene"? So it maybe that not having the latter is an oversight? Maybe they forgot. As for the hack. The Sun-Sky is basically a HDRI - with extra special controls that allow us to change some of it's features. So it kind of makes sense that switching to "Dome and Scene" and removing the current HDRI Map would then effectively switch to "Sun-Sky and Scene". But given this is Daz - I don't think it would have been planned .. :) .. So I won't say bug. I won't say feature either. I'll drop it in the "Unintended Consequence" category .. :)

@RaukoDaz3D
@RaukoDaz3D 7 дней назад
There are two ways to load a HDRI .. One from the content library (like what I do early on in this video with the sky / cloud HDRI) .. However, it's not an image that your loading there - but running a script which then loads an image .. just trying to load an image via the content library won't work .. so only try and load something that is part of a specific package that loads HDRIs. The second method it do so by manually. That means clicking the currently load HDRI icon (ie, the Ruins), selecting Browse in the menu that appears and then navigating to where the image is on your system. I always use the second method even if I know I have an installed HDRI package. I just load it in manually all the time.

No idea what's wrong with your program. If you have something selected in the scene tab then you should have more than just "All/Favorites/Currently Used" in the parameters tab. With something selected in the Scene Tab - check some of the other tabs near Parameters .. Shaping .. Posing .. and let me know if something appears under them? These are the basic tools of Daz and so if they aren't there - then there has to be an issue with your install and Daz will probably need re-installing.

Sadly, as far as I'm aware - you have to do it manually by hunting down every folder associated with the particular asset and deleting by hand. It's not massively hard - but time consuming if you're doing it for multiple assets. I'm surprised nobody has created a script for it by now ..

Thanks for watching. I do mean to do a Photoshop video for post processing at some point .. but there's always been two things stopping me .. Firstly, I am in no way good enough with Photoshop to feel justified in doing a video on it - there's many excellent Photoshop dedicated channels out that demonstrates color grading and various other techniques that can be used (I highly recommend PIXimperfect : ru-vid.com) .. Secondly, I don't actually do that much! As I mention - I do a little colour grading or just play around with Curves or Blending Modes until I get something I like. There's no real process to what I do! But if I ever work out what the method is that I use - then I probably will do a video at some pont!

Whatever spotlights, pointlights they are a shit render no matter what so-called fix you make. They slow renders down they bounce to much light and you get white pixels or unfinished pixels in render, they never render clear. You might love them I fucking hate them, distant light for some stupid reason renders better for iray. Fact is this daz3d studio renders shit most times. Most crap you buy isn't setup correctly to render with figures standing in them. Very few items and environments actually render models quickly and clearly. Not going into how fucking stupid the daz3d studio is and how much I'd like to kick the fuck out of many of its so called half arsed artists who supply half the content required and fail to setup environments and lighting as displayed in store pages.

Is it possible to do the same process to an image series of say 120 frames?
@RaukoDaz3D
@RaukoDaz3D 10 дней назад
Sadly not. The spot render only works on a single frame. I've done an animation myself this morning where I wanted to reuse the bulk of the animation and only move the head of a character to turn and look at something in scene. But as I say - the Spot Render only works on a single frame. Fortunately, my head turn consisted of "only" about 30 frames - so I spot rendered those frames, one by one, manually by hand and then stitched it together in Photoshop. If there's one feature I want for Daz 5.0 (if it ever gets released) - is to spot render over the timeline. But until then .. it's a no go.

Just give "Dome and Scene" and if people don't want to include scene lights - it's up to them! So yeah, I don't know what's going on there! Anyway .. thanks for watching! Damn I am late to this party but I am glad I found this. I knew of Daz3D in the Visual Novel spate for forever but assumed it was going to cost me an arm and a leg to get it. Boy was I glad to find out it is free to download. Question; do you have a video that on a general scale, showcases the extent and limitations of what Daz3D can and can not do? For myself in particular, as much as I love VNs, I am a film maker. Something that has constantly caught my eye with a lot of VNs using Daz is that the 3D renders are... quite simple. There is not a whole lot going on. Usually feels like it is in a loop, and pacing just often feels like a sped up version of the starting loop. It works, sure, but not all that impressive and it makes me wonder if there are other motives to why this appears to be happening a lot with VNs.
@RaukoDaz3D
@RaukoDaz3D 11 дней назад
No! Daz is completely free as a base piece of software. The cost comes in buying assets - models, clothing, hair etc .. although after you get your hands on a few models you can start to mix and match them a little to create fairly unique models. As for limitations - there aren't too many. In the hands of an experienced artist then the images can be comparable to anything created in any other 3d rendering software. There is a danger of a "Daz look" which you'll see a lot - certainly if you've played a lot of VNs - but that's more down to a) the base model that's been used - some model creators you'll find on the Daz store take a cookie-cutter approach when creating their models. ie, they take what's been done before and then tweak it to "create" a "different" model .. so a lot of models come with a "Daz" look b) the skill level of the artist. Daz might be easy to use but it can take a lot of years to get to grips with fully As a film maker - the animation tools within Daz leave a lot to be desired. You can do animations within Daz but a lot of the time you feel like your fighting against Daz to do what it is you want to do. There's apparently a new Daz in the works (5.0) - but it's been "soon" for about 2 years now. A new interface might see animating improve but I wouldn't hold my breath. Any animations I do - I do outside of Daz and then import the FBX into Daz. As with any 3D renderer - a single image can be slow to render. Unless you have one of the most powerful GPUs - expect a render to take hours to render. Top end GPUs can reduce this to minutes .. so, imagine how long a 10 second animation would take.
@christopherpoet458
@christopherpoet458 11 дней назад
@@RaukoDaz3D Oh... well that puts a dampener on things. Hum... I don't mind the wait, but im going to have issues if its going to be that hard to work with animation. It is either this or Unreal Engine 5.0 and now I'm starting to think UE may be a better direction of commitment regarding my interests. I think I will have to let Daz3D stick around or less demanding projects. Thank you for the detailed response. I appreciate it sir. 👌
@RaukoDaz3D
@RaukoDaz3D 11 дней назад
@@christopherpoet458 Don't let that put you off taking a look at Daz .. once you get over the difficulties of the UI - you can certainly do some animation. I wouldn't do anything major like a dance routine or two characters fighting .. but for smaller less ambitious things it can still do a somewhat of a job. But you have to remember - Daz isn't an animation package and it's not going to be able to compete with dedicated software. First and foremost - it's a render suite aimed mostly at those who don't have full blown 3D skills that you need to use dedicated software like Blender or 3ds Max etc You have your ready made 3d models, clothing, hair, environments etc .. just focus on composition, lighting and telling stories and in that world, it's as good as anything.
@christopherpoet458
@christopherpoet458 10 дней назад
@@RaukoDaz3D No, I won't outright dismiss it. My first thought when I saw this was getting 3D conceptual ideas of characters I have made and I like that this is basically a video game character creator xYes lol. Another tool that caught my eye for the same reason is Character Creator 4. And while my primary agenda is going to stay in film, I have been considering entering the Visual Novel space as a means to express and show the world I have made through a method that - while still expansive - is cheaper than trying to go head first into film production. Overall, the limits in animation are dumbed me out but as you said the software is not designed or made with the intent of being used on some of the thing I am after or interested in. I am going to check Daz out regardless. The base platform is free so its quite accessible. And I will go from there. Thank you for the responses and feedback. I do appreciate it.

How much RAM do you run? I find DAZ runs poorly with 48GB (sluggish over time, crashy) even with a 4090 GPU, and I've been told more than once that DAZ is a monster for RAM, and needs at least 64GB (if not 128GB) to run smoothly. Is this your experience? Thanks!

@RaukoDaz3D 12 дней назад
Glad to have been some help .. As for Ram .. I run 128gb with my 4090 .. I used to regularly run out when I only had 64gb .. the general rule of thumb is have 4x the Ram than what you have Vram .. so on the 4090 with it's 24gb Vram .. you should have at least 96gb Ram to cover all possibilities .. and yes, Daz is a beast with the way it eats up Ram so it quickly fills up

Absolutely brilliant. I've been using Daz Studio for years and never thought about eliminating the map from Dome and Scene.

It's not a bug, it's a feature. :D

It's always a feature .. :) .. To be fair, this could well be a feature .. We have "Dome Only" and "Dome and Scene" .. So "Sun-Sky Only" is probably right .. they just forgot to include "Sun-Sky and Scene" or reckoned we'd figure it out ourselves!

The only thing that bothers me is that the HDRI map always resets if you save, close, and reopen the project But it's really cool. I wish they'd fix it for Daz

Yeah, that is a bit of a pain - but it's not much to change it back at least!

I will be getting round to animation in due time - I've only just recently started animating myself this last year - so when I'm up to speed, I'll have a go at it!
