IT Garage, the place where we do stuff we're not trained in!
We'll be doing all sorts of projects on our old Ford products (with some exceptions) Stick around and see what a guy with used tools and RU-vid mechanics knowledge can do to these old cars! It’s not that hard, just go give it a shot! Hope you can learn and laugh with us, let's see where this goes!
Excellent show and parts. I love the lines of the big 60s Ford coupes, Fairlanes, Mercs, Galaxies etc. Thanks for taking us along. Really enjoyed it. Cheers
Hi Thank you. Due to your video I was able to change the same passenger headlight on my 2014 Kia Optima SXL. Your method works perfectly. The trick to getting the exact same clip off took me a few minutes to figure out. Pushing directly down on the back of the clip to compress it worked but I was trying to get the clip off by turning a screwdriver clockwise on the bottom of the clip wedged against the side of the light. That didn't work until I put the screwdriver in the middle of the clip down by where it hooks on and then turned screwdriver clockwise to flick it off of the holding edge. Another way to think about it is the position that doesn't work is trying to rotate the screwdriver clockwise by the upper end of the holding ledge (the part the clip clips on to which is closer to the hood) When I put the screwdriver in the middle of the side part of the clip and turned it clockwise I was flicking the clip off of the lower edge (closer to ground) Another way to think about it (idk who this note is for, maybe me lol) the holding ledge that the clip clips onto has a lower side (closer to the ground) and an upper side (closer to the hood of the car) After you push down on one side of the holding clip to compress it (with one screwdriver) your mind wants to stick another screwdriver down the side and flick the bottom of the holding clip off from the upper edge of the holding ledge. That didn't work for me as the clip would not come off of the ledge. So on the side of the hold down clip (the think you need to get off) there is a long rectangular open area that goes from the top of the hold down clip down to where it hooks on to the hold down ledge). While still pushing down with one screwdriver I put another flathead screwdriver in that open rectangular channel and when it was reading down on the bottom of the channel I twisted the screwdriver clockwise (to the right) and the clip just popped off like magic. We tested it just the way you did before reassembly. The clip is very easy to push back on. Thank you so much. This took me 10-20 minutes out in the driveway start to finish. BTW Kia wanted $367 for one new bulb. 30 minutes labor for each bulb. Total for both bulbs and labor=$889 plus tax. Kia price for one bulb and labor was $445 plus tax. So thank you again for doing this video. I should have recorded my disassembly and reassembly. I paid $32 for two cheap bulbs on amazon...maybe they won't last long. Again this was on the passenger side. Maybe driver side worse as battery would have to be removed and maybe other stuff. Thanks again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@@itgarageben thank you good sir! Heh great for working on a will it start too just stick it the bumper or fender always got your drink handy 😂 ( wouldn't do it on something nice). Definitely getting one for the portable toolbox and garage tech cart. 🤘
@@itgarageben I here that! Heh Got a bit of both myself. If they're shiny you can always leave the window down and slap one on the inside and just reach in when you need a swig! Total game changer man.

LOVE THE SHIRT,, DADS YEAR!! --- GOOD YEAR... I DIDNT KNOW YOU BOUGHT ANOTHER CAR,, I WATCH EVERY VIDEO YOU MAKE .. WHEN DID THIS COME IN ,, I THOUGHT YOU WERE WORKING ON THE EDSEL?? I FOUND OUT WHEN DRILLING A SCREW LOOK DOWN BELOW UNDER THE CAR MAKING SURE YOUR NOT HITTING ANY THING DOWN UNDER HOSES BRAKE LINES.. LOVE THE GAS TANK,,, ((((((GET A BUG ZAPPPPER ))) IT HELPS... NEXT TIME SHOW THE WHOLE CAR ... I AM A BIG FAN OF YOUR VIDEOS AND NEVER SAW THIS CAR YOU SOLD THE BUICK AND THE TRUCK.. YA,, OK THANKS,, PEACE!!!
Hey Ronald! I got this back around Christmas time! I’ve done 3 videos on it now I think. I created a playlist, you’ll have to check it out! Have a good one! Thanks for watching as always!!
I wish you had fully welded the patch panels in . You have a welder make full use of it doesn't have to be a neat job but it will be stronger than what you have
@@itgarageben in the UK it would never pass inspection. It's your car so do as you wish but if you do want to improve your skills then crack on with the welder
@itgarageben Can you explain in more detail why you had to rob the power from the lighter backlight? What does it have to do with the signal wire to your headlights switch? I'm looking to install this unit in a 1991 VW Vanagon Westfalia.
So I just used that because it was tied to the headlights and right there. You can steal switched power from anywhere as long as it ties in with the headlights. Basically giving power to that wire will dim the unit.
@michaelfavre351 yup! Even though there’s too many holes in the Edsel firewall, I chose the bottom two? And then I made brand new brake lines for the whole car. But there’s a video from autokrafters that talk about a kit to move from a single to dual MC. Their video might be worth checking out. I’m sure it’s for a mustang, but same idea.
Great Job getting the Edsel from stop leaking gas. The only thing I can think of is all these reproduction tanks and sending units are made in China and there could bit a slight tolerance difference with the tank and sending unit. Great to see it at the car show. My 59 Edsel is just like yours and at the car show people walk right past all those shiny cars and have to check it out. Keep on Edseling!
HI WATCHING YOUR CAR LATE AT NIGHT ,,IT WOKE ME UP AND I FEEL SO BAD FOR YA!! I LOVE THE CAR SHOW VIDEO,, YOU HAVE BEEN DOING YOUR BEST FIXING THAT GAS TANK ,,WHY DONT YOU TAKE THE CAR TO THE SHOP AND FINALLY FIX IT BY THEM??? YOU GOT A GREAT FAMILY... GO TO ANOTHER CAR SHOW AND HAVE FUN.....I HAD A LIGHT SWITCH PROUBLE ON THE FLOOR AND I PUT WD-40 ON IT,,NOW IT WORKS..GOOD CAR SHOW????? BUT THE MUSTANGS ARE PLASTIC CARS,,, I LOVE YOUR CAR THE BEST!!! REAL METAL SHOWS HISTORY!!!!! THANKS.. GOOD NIGHT,,, YES HAPPY MOTHERS DAY TO YOUR WIFE AND YOUR CUTE BABY ..
I had to repair the sending unit on my 59 Edsel, there was an acess panel in the trunk floor and the sending unit was on the top of the tank.I was wondering why yours is different,is it because you have an after market tank?
Yup! Original tank has the top design, The 63 galaxie tank that I am using, because nobody makes a 59 Edsel tank. Has the sending unit on the frontside of the tank.
I do not know, nor have I tried. I don’t remember seeing an option to make it stay on the screen. In my opinion. It’s still the only downfall of this radio
Hey anyone coulda bought it. It was sale for over a month. Wanna do it right? Might need to do it yourself. No need to put HOURS and money into a truck worth 4k when really nice.

31: 13 I spent a week researching Fox bodies for the notchback mustang in 2020. Every article mentioned the meecury capri had four headlights & that mustangs only had two headlights. Which is only today gotten confussing. A restored mercury capri had some really nice buckets. One unmistakeable feature of the mercury capri is the " Buldged " Rear window.
Your an Etsal guy? Any etsol, or just what you was showing on ypur 1st video? You need a stronger battery or a better camera. Its wa a not focused at all. Very blurry. Your vidro is the only one I've viewed where I could not pause to zoom in on details. Perhaps a switch fuction on your camcorder? I'm no expert myself. I only know the experience strained my eyes & gave me a migrain. Still, thank you much for sharing name of TY he yard. Also, you had mentioned an old buivk special you are hunting. I need the front grill but the fella a good guy, wants too srll the whole car. @@itgarageben
