Hi Heather, Having a 30 min meeting with each team member every two weeks seems difficult if you have a large team. Where I work, there are a lot of meetings already and it doesn’t leave much time to get work done. How do you suggest working through that?
@@kellyk516 Yeah generally that's way too much to be great with all of them, so systems like these are going to be tricky Is there a way you can allocate assistant managers or supervisors to help you with the leadership? Otherwise, I'd maybe just reduce the frequency, so run the 30 mins once a month?
This is so important, but I also think there's a big difference between having a 90 day induction plan and having a good plan! I have worked at companies with these plans, one of them was soul destroying 😂 it was a month of (almost solidly) being expected to watch corporate training videos in all sorts of random topics, then month 2 of having random calls with teams who would often say on the call that we'll likely never work together or speak to each other again. Then month 3 with more training videos! A bad induction can definitely leave people wondering why they joined a company!
So exciting! And good luck Levi 🎉 your onboarding ideas sound fab I’ve been through lots of onboarding with huge firms in the past - I agree it’s such an important process. 🧡
This is the most genuine video I’ve watched in ages. The realness is infectious - so good on you for owning YOU and letting us see how special you are as a person and as a leader ☺️
This is great. Please don’t delete. My god, I so agree with the nice v kind thing - global issue though not just the uk! (And the stomach breathing thing really works - aim to fill your belly before you breathe out and then breathe out really slowly) x
This is raw, it is real and these are the kind of videos I prefer to watch. Wishing you and Charlotte a brilliant birthday weekend, as well as making some great memories with the families. Keep being you, Heather, because that’s what you’re good at.
Re your office! How did this woman just have a window into her salon as well i get a window into an office but did they have a blind to stop people peering in ha
100% agreed! I’ve found that having the difficult conversations is not only the fastest way to understand what people are thinking, but also shows them that, as a leader, you are willing to do the hard work to lead the team to a solution.
Ah apologies - I’ll get that updated If you head here the agenda link is near the top inthemakingleadership.substack.com/p/how-to-run-successful-1-2-1s?mcp_token=eyJwaWQiOjgxNjA3Niwic2lkIjoyNzQ2MzgwNjksImF4IjoiZDU1ZDg3MzcxMTY1NWFmZDRiM2QzMTFjZDJkNzkzMTMiLCJ0cyI6MTcwMjczNDQ4MywiZXhwIjoxNzA1MTUzNjgzfQ.ur2O5GeoyMFcPCF2bQzVQX14tutdiMOqcxo2ZOQ-O18
If they're truly narcissistic, leave. If they're just a bit crappy, then you need to have a direct conversation with them about how they're making you feel.
