TBH about INDOOR MALLS in general, basically in all the MAJOR CITIES, we could say it's going out of style. In SOME cases partly due to crime, "dash & grab." But mostly because ONLINE SHOPPING is easier & more PROFITABLE for Retailers versus having so many brick & mortar businesses to operate. They are about their "bottomlines" of course. So especially since COVID, they don't have to have as many employees, utility bills & OVERHEAD. The newer construction TRENDS are building OPEN AIR outdoor & DESIGNER Outlet Malls. In some cities they're turning what were once beautiful malls into OFFICE PARK type BUSINESS Malls. That goes for LA CHICAGO HOUSTON ATLANTA, & States like New Jersey Minnesota Massachusetts etc.... So it DOESN'T "necessarily" equate to a "decline" in the city themselves. Norfolk is a beautiful city to only have about 200,000 people. The realtors there hardly ever VIDEO the gifts of Ocean View or East Beach & I AM sure for good reason. Jewels that great you want to keep a secret LOL. VIRGINIA BEACH is great too. 💖😍💯
Bc va beach sucks. Myrtle is much better. Florida beaches are even better than that. And none of these beaches have anything on the Bahamas, Jamaica, Maldives, Thailand or the Philippines. If you go to the beach to be in a big city you’re doing it wrong. You should go to the beach for the nice beach.
Hi Sam...video suggestion: The current state of ALL Hampton Roads traditional indoor shopping malls (not including outlets). From what I observe, One is doing pretty well (lynnhaven) , the others ain't. But perhaps you are capable of doing this in more detail.
I like the fact that norfolk is big enough to have its own culture and that you definitely feel like your living in a city, but not soo big that its overwhelming. I'm not that much of a gambler, and have only been to the Portsmouth casino twice with family, but I like the idea of the Norfolk casino because it would be built in what is currently a giant parking lot and along side harbor park, and the Amtrak station. I'm hoping the casino would result in that parking lot being turned into a neighborhood with its own unique identity. One pro that I would add are the festivals. It seems like there's always some type of festival going on, and Harbor Fest is one of the best festivals in the entire nation. A con that doesn't get mentioned is that there is a lack of regional cooperation that holds the city back from reaching its potential. Despite that, norfolk is always changing. Norfolk feels way bigger than it was 10 years ago, and im convinced that 10 years from now, the city will feel even bigger if the leadership plays its cards right.
oh i forgot the big pro of norfolk, bars and resteraunts, awesome bars and food, theres a old german bar/resteraunt years ago my brother used to play in dart league and would take me there, kickin pizza and dinner platter and yes BEER!!!
i think most folks 2 main reasons for not liking norfolk is crime and cost, but yes 90% of norfolk is just good ole maerican town, and this area is FULL of history, now if we can get rid of deepstate everything will clear its self up
I’m thinking about moving there from Texas, doing my research but I would like some realistic input on how expensive are the state taxes. Can someone comment back on how much that is each year?

I have been to the Hampton Roads many times and used to live here when I was younger and currently do now since 2020. But between Cleveland Ohio and Virginia Beach and honestly I can say I miss certain things about Cleveland but I don’t miss the weather or the crime. VB has amazing weather but the traffic is terrible here.
I never realized that neighborhood was a mixed density development with even some commercial in SAFE walking distance. Honestly something we need a lot more of in the city! However, I believe that is also the neighborhood that the contractor messed up the drainage and caused a lot of street flooding so the city had to come in and install pumps to lower the lake’s water level.
Biggest thing for me personally, all things considered, is the lack of public transportation. Yes it exists, but you can also take all day to get to your destination. Especially if you are traveling to another city. No one wants a two, three or four commute. You will get that using the bus here. And Uber/Lyft across the area is easily upwards of $100 or more.
If you want to grow this channel post real estate about northern Va like Alexandria or Arlington VA where’s there growth. Norfolk is a dying area. Amazon headquarters are in Arlington and all the good paying jobs are up north. Left 20 years ago.
The fighter jets flying over the beach every 10 mins is a deal breaker for me. Lived there in 2004. It wasn’t great. Not multicultural enough not quite too much in the middle that no real reason is compelling to move and stay there. People are not friendly. It’s a strange part of Virginia. Pay is terrible too and no good jobs. All the high paying jobs are in northern VA. Delaware and North Carolina have better beaches. Go there.
va beach is terrible. homelessness is on the rise. the city officials are idiots. they never finish road construction. the traffic is terrible. there are more run-down areas than not. the cost of living is high for the east coast. the people cant drive at all. i dont care what polls say. i live here. its not safe.
Question. In terms of homeowners insurance, do you find a difference between buying in Chesapeake and Virginia Beach? Is being within the VB city line more expensive? Thanks!
Virginia Beach Sucks! Bridges, tunnels and mad traffic! Tourist, tourist, tourist everywhere. And don't get me started on the noise, jet noise that is. And try finding a job that isn't tourist industry or military related. Stay away and save your sanity.
Williamsburg has traffic. It's all the tourist that can't drive! Every summer they clog the roads and restaurants. Richmond Road is terrible in the summer due to the tourist and all the hotel/restaurants. Speaking of restaurants, for whatever reason there's a ton of pancake places. Even with the widening of 64 when Bush Gardens/Water Country exits back up or accidents happen you have traffic! Remember, when 64 backs up all the surrounding areas are overrun with cars trying to go around the congestion. Nightlife? There is none on the peninsula it's all on the south side. Williamsburg is very progressive politically, so that's another issue that may be a factor. Anything in Billsburg is more expensive period. Yes, low crime. That's due to the property values and relatively small town so less people factor. There is still crime.
I can't believe the money this town spends (norfolk)on stop signs and speed limits that nobody pays any attention to,maybe they know the cops don't care?.so much for public safety!?
