The New Testament is basically a hippy versus the romans (but with made up supernatural powers added on later). The Old Testament is basically we have arbitrary laws and we’re governed by Thanos. It always struck me as weird when I learnt about the Bible as a kid that the Jewish god turned up to destroy their ancient adversaries but just sat back and watched them be tortured for the next few centuries. Either god doesn’t exist in the way you conceive it or he really doesn’t like you all that much or you’re worshipping him wrong. I’m going with he doesn’t exist. I’m not anti-Semitic but seriously, I’ve your god hate you that much then at some point maybe you should start reconsidering your affiliation. Maybe if your god is trying to annihilate you over a strip of land, perhaps he’s not your friend?
The Bible has dozens / hundreds of logical fallacies - provable absurdities - DIRECT contradictions ( sometimes in the same chapter and/or verse ) and is FULL of thievery - frauds - schemes - rape - murder - baby killings and even PLANETARY GENOCIDE. And even long sections of simple family trees and genealogy ( for some reason ). AND - it has edicts for people to follow - that in this modern - enlightened - sane - intelligent world - would cause a person to be arrested - imprisoned and executed for murder etc . . ( look it up - there are dozens of them - that if a person were to be strictly following - they would end up abusing AND killing their children - their wives and on and on . . )
Right the fundamental ethos and foundation of Western Civilization that led to the greatest and most equitable society humanity has ever seen is not worthy of respect or dignity. The problem with the modern left is they love to criticize the foundations of western culture but have nothing to offer as an alternative. He undermines his own criticism of the Bible by demonstrating that he has no true understanding of the depth and transcendence of the most impactful religion in human history. Like most post modern Hollywood celebs his understanding is not much better than that of a child. So good luck liberals, enjoy your life with no moral absolutes and no God but yourselves. That’s worked out so well in the past. But I guess you don’t know about the past because you have never actually studied it.

Also the whole dying for me doesn't mean anything if there's a clause, where it doesn't do anything unless I believe but also the god I'm supposed to believe in Also plays hide and seek rather than just making me know they exist and giving me an actual choice, instead they give exactly the same evidence as every other religion. Plus they it was more of a nap than a death and as an all powerful and perfect being they wouldn't suffer any lasting harm like ptsd from it. Also they don't exist, gandalf died so that the ring could be destroyed, that's the same level of feeling I have for jesus. Except gandalf never committed genocide and doesn't have people tortured forever, so actually gandalf dying is a bit sadder.

Christianity can be compared to a large group of children being let into a room full of books, thousands of books, tens of thousands of books. The children are then told that they may take one book and one book only, and leave the room with it. After all the children have left the room full of books their choice of book is studied by the person who led them into the room. If it is discovered that a child has selected the correct book then that child is given pizza and ice cream to eat and comic books to read and video games to play forever. The rest of the children are set on fire.
The problem with the analogy is it relies on people reading like a child rather than analyzing what the book says. It’s a common problem both for those that believe and those who don’t - but you miss the message that appears to be present.
