Well I'm pleased that riding on top of a dyke didn't involve the perils it would if you did it in Scotland. I was a bit puzzled when you took those Dutch roundabouts on the left 🤔🙄 I'd be sure to end up on the wrong side of a road at some point, even if just through muscle memory. Full credit to you for riding for days through various countries, just to get to where you want to be.
More quiet roads and deserted towns, very strange, was there some big football thing going on? No point recording miles of boring roads on umpteen cameras, I can see the advantage of a 360 camera in that situation. Thanks Alex, we'll soon be in Norway 👍
Hi Mick, it was too early in the day for the football so no idea why it was so quiet. The 360 excelled in this situation and did not matter if it rained because it waterproof, I used the 360 the most but it more work when editing. Day 5 sees me arrive in Norway so a wee while yet but there a bit more to see in next week's video.
Hello 2WV, day 3 was a decent ride through nice locations avoiding motorways and even involved another ferry but that for next week. No issues at all, English is the universal language and everyone spoke at least some. That is why us Brits are lazy and never learn to speak anything else.
I'm with you Al, I actually prefer riding a bike on the right hand side of the road. Loved it in France, especially as the locals are so considerate in letting bikes go past them. That place with the canal looked absolutely beautiful, and the hotel looked a good find, especially for £80. Don't get a lot for that kinda money these days. I'm very envious of you getting away over there, must've been brilliant.
Morning Nige, it does feel different how the locals treat bikes but the thing I am most impressed with are the Dutch roads. They are in great condition and the way they are set up with lanes and the roundabouts means you are unlikely to get cut up. The hotels I stayed in were of good quality, the only exception was the last night where the place really needed some TLC, in saying that, it was clean and had everything needed.
Morning Alex..here we go bike adventure . been looking forward to this adventure. 360 amazing. Like the way you give us the information. I was going to watch tonight (Friday) but enjoying while getting breakfast. Thank you mate .Old dave
Morning Dave, great to hear you are enjoying. This is really the only video with voice over as the Action 4 comes out for most of the days from here on in. The 360 performed very well and have some cracking 360 video which you will no doubt see eventually.
That Dyke is as you say a great piece of engineering. I believe a Dam has water on both sides and a Dyke has water on only one side. That was a decent place to rest for the night to recharge your batteries for the next leg of the tour. Cheers
Morning Joe, never knew that about Dan/Dyke but makes sense. The Dutch refer to this one as a Dyke and it has water on both sides, a strange one but a stunning piece of engineering they are rightly proud of. It is a must have for me to find a decent place to stay after long hours on the bike. I could never camp (certainly not at my age) and take my hat off to those who do.
Morning Mick, yes indeed it was the easiest ride around the Edinburgh ring road, in fact it was fairly enjoyable. I got to say I had good fortune with the traffic for most of the tour, the exceptions being Bremen and Flensburg in Germany where the traffic was heavy.
I did this road on Saturday on my RE Interceptor 650, what a blast, the hairpins were good fun and the brakes were well tested on the way down! Absolutely stunning road, loved it! 😊
Hello Kay, a lovely bike to do this Glen and got to agree it a stunning road. I do intend going back and doing the road in the other direction because it so good. thanks for the comment.
@@blearyview2254 The other direction will be challenging at the start with the steepness and sharp bends, keep the revs up!! 😁🏍💨Got to be done tho!! 💪🥰
@@kayshearer1563 If the road is still in a poor state on that section then that will make it even more difficult, but it got to be done. I did Lysebotn in Norway with 27 switchbacks and that does not have the difficulty of that part of the road 🤣🤣🤣
Me and my wife have done this road quite a few times now ,love the scenery and love the approach into Kenmore and loch Tay,we done this in our campervan,we also done bealich na ba,the road on the NC 500.lovely footage,we live in England now but in every visit back to Scotland we drive up through glen queich, and stop at loch freuchie for auld times sake.🏴😥🏴😥
Afternoon Jim, it is a lovely part of the world and imagine that double bend will be fun in a campervan. That entire area is a pleasure to ride on the Classic 350. Thanks for watching and for the excellent comment.
Wonderful to see you heading off on your travels and to catch a glimpse of Mrs BV and yourself as an inset. This should be great to watch over the next weeks - perhaps month or three 😉
Morning Peter, thank you. I am not sure how many videos there will be but there are a few 😀My wife fell ill a few days later with the flu and was in her bed for days but the family stepped in to look after her. it wss over a week after I returned that she felt her old self.
Haha, dining at it's finest 🤣🤣🤣Aye it be a lot easier for you being so close to the south coast, well worth the effort matey and no excuse once that shoulder is sorted.
Just realised you meant the ones over the Forth, I been looking at footage with a big bridge and stupidly (since you not seen it haha) thought you were talking about that, senior moment lol.
Morning Alex, a good start to your journey, the A1 makes sense as you were heading to Newcastle for the ferry but I prefer the A68 when heading south. Coincidentaly i am watching this in a hotel room in Newcastle at the moment. The train down is not as good as riding down would be but at least I got away for a short break.
Morning Jim, my thinking as just to get there as missing the ferry would be disaster. But the A68 is way better. I have done Newcastle on the train a few times and you are spot on when you say the bike is better. Hopefully you will get your bike back asap.
Brilliant start to the tour Alex, I see you have the Android Auto up and running, what dongle are you using. I have mine installed under my seat and was curious as to there you have yours installed for the journey. I do like the look of the NT 1100 all packed up, and for sure the bike will love this type of riding. See you in the next one. Cheers
Morning Joe, thank you very much. I just used a cable but may yet get a dongle as the Tom Tom maybe be coming to end of life. I did not realise you put it under the seat, how did you manage to connect to the port?
@@blearyview2254 hello Alex I ran a cable from port to under seat. Had to cut the shroud but will be printing a better bespoke cover when I get a moment.
@@kimetogo Ah that makes sense, I thought you had done some wizardry to get another connection. I will have q look t your video again and may buy myself the same as your as it seems to work well.
@@blearyview2254 also have one in my car and works flawlessly there. And on the bike as long as you start your headset first then turn on bike works good with the odd time I have to turn bike on and off again but once connected very good never gone off once connected. A very minor thing which Is not an issue to me for the benefit it gives.
Nice video, always very interested to see your route and the ferry information. Funnily enough my other half and I just went that route a couple of weeks ago, but we were off down to IWM Duxford and a few of the other war museums on that trip.
Morning BM, hopefully you managed to get past Edinburgh as easily I did, I got very lucky on this occasion. I hope you had a great time on your holiday.
Morning Dave, thanks for the great support as usual. Hopefully the format of the series works and you get a real feel for what it was like to ride the bike in Europe.
Morning Ryan, it was a brilliant experience and already am working on day 5, which is where I am actually in Norway. I am loving reviewing all the footage while it is so fresh in my mind.
Hi Paul, hopefully I can make a decent story out of the trip. I will be publishing as a daily journal (but just one vid a week) so you can follow my journey to Nowary then the wonders of Norway itself. There will also indiviual videos of the fantastic road riding in the moutains of Norway. So much to edit that will keep videos coming for a good while.
Hello James, it was a brilliant trip and have been editing like crazy to try get some vids out soon. Norway is a superb bike riding country and hopefully the videos will do it justice.
I respond to every comment but sometimes RU-vid do not show them. If you have commented then many thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts on my video 👍👍👍
Hello Alexander, thanks for the great comment and give me a shout if you ever see me in the wild :) Showing off our area is one of the aims of my channel and good to know it gets out there in some way.
Thanks TL, mine due it's MOT in a couple of weeks and need to get it booked but not expecting any issues. I thought it worth mentioning I have a playlist with all the NC750X videos if that is f interest.
Afternoon Alex..Nice to see you doing a ride out. Stunning scenery too ..I've mentioned it before..I've lost you a few times .now I refresh the bell every time I finish your adventures..it's worked up to now take care mate...the old fella
Afternoon Dave, glad you enjoyed, the second half of the ride is just as impressive countryside, that video will be two or three weeks. Next week will be the first of my tour videos. Thanks for checking the sub etc, my son mentioned to me he had not seen any videos of mine for weeks, turns out they did not show up for him and that is what prompted me to mention the issue.
Hi Alex, welcome back. I spent ages finding your location in Google Maps, then you showed a map! It's amazing what you miss if you just blast up and down the main roads.
Afternoon, haha sorry regards the map. I do try a map up but sometimes it slips my mind. There are so many country lanes that are easily missed but I spend an age on Google maps looking for new hidden gems.
Hi Alec, good to see you back, hope the European trip was good (apart from thunderstorms). Sitting here suffering from withdrawal symptoms, bike in the dealers waiting for parts. Turned out to be a wiring problem and a replacement wiring loom is on backorder and not expected till the end of August. Summers been a total loss as far as riding is concerned, planning to have a few short trips away for a break although not by bike. Have ordered a new Insta360 One X4 camera and remote and should have it by tomorrow.
Afternoon Jim, what a bummer regards the Can-am, a real downer. If you fancy a wee spin on two wheels then send me a mail and we can arrange for a ride out on one of my bikes. The X4 looks like a decent upgrade and will be interesting to see some of the output, I used my X2 extensively on the trip and have some great video although there is a huge amount of work to edit it into something watchable. The trip was wonderful and had great weather while in Norway which is the main thing.
Oh you unshaved hooligan bike thug you, how dare you park up outside the poshest of posh prep schools ( there are quite a few locally), then have the audacity to try to commune with the local eccentrics 😂 I did the same route with Mrs Wolf last year, minus the start at the school for predestined kids. I'm surprised you didn't show the views from the brow of the hill just before the windmills 😯. Shadow banned eh, must be fraternising with the local Bad boy, now I wonder who that could be 🤔😏🐺 TAYM's commented on my last few videos but they remain invisible to me. Just a little personal thought but I found that particular transition detracted from the views I was trying to see either side.
Good morning, looks like a lovely day there! I've had the same issue with comments. I've seen comments days later that I didn't get notifications on. Hope people don't think I ignored them!
The comment thing is very annoying and I like yourself do not want folk to think I do not respond to them taking the time to leave a comment. But that the YT eco system I suppose.
Thanks Dezmond. there are so many roads around my area that is can sometimes be taken for granted. I go lucky with the weather that day because I think it rained for a bit after that.
Many thanks TL for the lovely comment, really great to hear you enjoy my rides. The NC is a very underrated motorcycle but us in the know, know better :)
