Hey! My names Jess and I'm from sunny Sydney, Australia
Welcome to my channel! Here you'll find videos on plant care and plants in general! On a personal level, I'm making videos to help me improve my presentation skills which is why you'll find a blooper reel in most of my videos
Hi, this weekend I found a big one in my nursery but is the variety with the green and purple lines. So beautiful. Thanks for all the information. It is not very easy to find this variety in Florida. Planning on propagation to sell some of them.
Meanwhile this for some reason has by and far been the most difficult plant I've ever worked with. I just cannot figure out what I'm doing wrong and almost all of its fonds have entirely disappeared. I've had it it for almost two months and it's nearly leafless, and what leaves are there are all blacking at tips and ultimately withering before any of the fronds ever get to fully grow. New fronds still forming but nevertheless keep meeting this fate! Gets lots of bright indirect light from all directions (and it's June as of writing this), watered only when dry, I keep it near a sink for humidity, I've given it some plant food, temps are kept at high 60s to mid 70s F... I don't get what I'm doing wrong.
Very interesting. We have a very large Rabbits foot fern. Suggestion, turn off the background music. With music playing over your voice it is difficult understanding you. Many folks have hearing difficulties, thus the music quickly becomes intrusive and annoying.
If you want it to grow more branches you just nip the new leaves. When the time comes that it bears flowers then you'll then have seeds to propagate. They love rain water a lot..The leaves turn green due to lack of sunshine...the Christia Obcordata, the Green leaf variety is very beautiful, too!
I just got one and it immediately turned brown and crispy and one stem is wrinkled. What's happening? I watered it once and mist it often. And the soil is correct
Thank you! I recently did a houseplant cuttings trade and I received a large handful of these rhizomes with fronds! This plant has been on my wishlist for ages. I appreciate the clear and concise instructions for propagating this plant. Thank you again! 🙂
I just found one of these at our Lowes in Colorado and they named it Devisiva. I couldn’t even find a plant with that name but when I saw a few pics and your plant I knew because the texture of the leaf
I love my rabbit foot fern! I live in Canada and even with our super dry winters, it still does so well! Ive even forgotten to water it for like 2 weeks and it's still fine 😂
I dont believe all variegation is caused by a virus or it would be easy to replicate and spread that to any plant you want. Some viruses may cause viral variegation (which probably isnt a good thing) but many plants have variegation due to genetic flaws I believe.
Thank you for this. I just got one in Canada and the nursery let me know that they want a LOT of water and humidity 😂 I’ve had luck with Alocascia dragon scale and silver dragon so this is my next challenge!
Thank you so much for this information. I am glad to find out that I have one. All your descriptions match my Dragon Tail perfectly. Also mine is trying to commit suicide by turning the leaves yellow that you addressed and I agree, too much water. BUT I've only watered it once since buying it about 2 weeks ago. I did buy dowels from Lowe's and made a trellis. My Rappy will not be going outside. I'm going to cut off those yellow leaves and check the water with a probe. Thanks.
Hello. 4 years later and I picked one up today for $20 US. Really like the look, after watching your video I think I will get one more in case it is still a rarity.
I rescued this gigantic plant, must have had a kilo or two of rhizomes i had to cut off but only a few left alive, and it had a bit of growth but its just stopped growing and i see no new leaves or green growth. I keep it regularly moist, in light but not direct, with a giant well draining pot and its about 23 degrees here indoors rn... but its not doing so well :( idk what to do!
Just a note, I’ve had both scale and mealy bugs… scale is a tough little brown shell/ bump, like a turtle, and can be removed with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol as you mentioned. But the white soft stuff is not also scale, any white material is from mealy bugs, which can also be removed with alcohol. I enjoyed this video, very helpful information for my recently acquired small caudex. Aw seeing Dad puttering around is ok as long as you stay on topic ! 🪴
