Hey guys - it was brought to my attention shortly after uploading this video that this plant is the rhaphidophora descursiva and NOT the epipremnum pinnatum as I referred to in the video. They get mixed up a lot (as I now come to realise!) and were often mis named when they first came out in Bunnings and other plant stores. Really sorry about that guys - I would take what I say here with a grain of salt just because the information sources I referred to would be for the epipremnum pinnatum (e.g natural habitat). The care tips should still be applicable as they were mostly based on my own growing experience. To educate myself a bit more on the differences between R.Descursiva and E. Pinnatum - I found this forum useful: sites.google.com/site/efloraofindia/species/a---l/ar/araceae/epipremnum/epipremnum-pinnatum-1 Also I understand now that to truly distinguish between R.Descursiva and E.Pinnatum you need to wait until the leaf matures - the E Pinnatum will have little holes along the middle blade of the plant. Also check out this photo which has the R.Descursiva and E. Pinnatum side by side - instagram.com/p/BaojBrFleLW/? Sorry for the confusion guys!!
I have one of these indoors (south australia) and it is huge! I literally have vines packed with leaves growing around the kitchen, over the top of the fridge, accross shelves etc 😂
I just found one of these at our Lowes in Colorado and they named it Devisiva. I couldn’t even find a plant with that name but when I saw a few pics and your plant I knew because the texture of the leaf
Thank you for the info - I have just bought one of these plants at Bunnings, labeled as the E.p, so I suppose I’ll have to wait a while for it to grow to see if it really is the E.p. Great to find a plant channel with good info on Australian conditions - and a friendly face!
the plastic baby hand got me cackling hahah my decursiva isn't really doing anything. not dying not growing.. moved it to better lighting so i hope it'll grow soon!
hahah! ive gotta feature him more then! Maybe its getting colder atm - mine has stopped/ slowed growing too! Fingerscrossed it grows with the more light!
Hi there! Happy to find a Aus channel about indoor plants! : ) I recently purchased a baby rhaphidophora decursiva from Bunnings on clearance that was sitting in the rain kind of coming apart from loose soil in its pot. I’ve repotted it in some Osmocote Scott’s I had on hand so hope it will survive and won’t have root rot!
Thankyou, I have been looking for ages for a video on this plant.. I have one, in Tasmania, inside and it was growing a lot of stalk and no leaves, but just recently I noticed it is growing leaves again. I love the plant, it is very healthy and growing so big!!!. Thnaks again, excellent video.
I just bought this plant @ a market in NYC. In fact I bought 2 & didn’t know they were the same plant. One pot had split leaves & the other was very juvenile leaves. When I watched this video I discovered my error. Thank you for the detailed info. In this video.
Dragon’s tail! That’s so awesome! That’s such a good point that you raise on repotting in Winter - we want to repot Mr Fiddle but have been hesitant to do so but shall keep you posted if we end up deciding on the repotting *fingers crossed*
Hi Jessy, I think I have a new plant added on my long wishlist 😂 I love how huge and long it is 😍 Thanks for sharing your care tips. I hope I can find it here in the UK 😁
Hey lovely!! yay for extending that wishlist! definitely easy to make any area look quite lush because he grows quite quickly! Hopefully you find one there! Where abouts in the UK are you?
The little hand was freaking me out 😂. You seem to be such a happy person. Your smile is truly infectious. I love watching your videos. They make me feel so zen. 🧘♂️🥰🌿 I just snagged a baby one of these at Gabriella Plants 😘
Thank you so much for this information. I am glad to find out that I have one. All your descriptions match my Dragon Tail perfectly. Also mine is trying to commit suicide by turning the leaves yellow that you addressed and I agree, too much water. BUT I've only watered it once since buying it about 2 weeks ago. I did buy dowels from Lowe's and made a trellis. My Rappy will not be going outside. I'm going to cut off those yellow leaves and check the water with a probe. Thanks.
Just saw your video today(2years after you uploaded it) I have a baby one of this, indoors hope it grows like yours,do you have an update on it? I’m from Sydney ,so glad the winter is over👍 💚🌵🌱☘️
Thanks so much for the extra info in your pinned comment. I didn't know the difference either and I have bought this from bunnings too. Mine is only about 1/2 metre. Yours is so impressive. One of the bunnings garden workers told me it's usually fine to re-pot anytime of year in Sydney weather. I don't know if that's true? Maybe when you re-pot yours you could position it to grow upwards if you wanted to.
Not a problem! My apologies for the confusion initially! Apparently there was mislabelling at bunnings/ commercial nurseries when it first came out and I relied on what the tag was saying...good lesson in being critical! Ah that's good to know! I probably will have to pot him up soon and not wait to spring because I'm finding more yellowing leaves
Thankyou so much for this video! I got mine from bunnings as well. Mine is about 2 years old and half the size of yours. Good to know what it's actually called, thanks!
Yikes! I thought it was a climbing plant, but it’s actually a creeping plant 😅 Serves me right for impulse buying lol! Yours looks amazing! Mine is about 20cm at the moment.
Wow Jess, i love this plant. I also have one ( nowhere near as big as ur one) though i cant wait till it gets that big. I actually had 2 but gave one to my daughter. I also got mine from Bunnings and it was call epipremnum. I just call it the dragons tail. I read ur comment down below and am heading to those websites now. Thankyou so much for the vid and the great info. Hope u have a wonderful weekend
Hello! Thank you for this video. I live in the states where these plants are very rare and I am having a hard time getting information so I’m hoping you can help! Mine has sent out this long stem, about 6 feet but the stem doesn’t have any leaves yet, it just keeps going and going. Will the leaves come eventually (shooting off this stem?) and I need to be patient or does it sound like something is wrong? I wish I could upload a photo! The conditions as far as light and everything seem fine, and it did produce two large leaves within the last few months, but not on this particular stem that keeps climbing...
I bought mine a couple years ago at Brian's in Kentucky and recently contacted him asking the same question and he told me to take cuttings and plant them back into the pot. He said cutting it will encourage branching and the cuttings will make it look fuller. I have large leaves but almost a foot of stem in between them. But the cuttings are doing well, didn't lose any leaves.
