I watched this just to see if they did the "dog gag." I wonder if thr writer's had that in mind first, or if the choreographers saw the opportunity while writing the dance steps and suggested it. The latter seems more likely.
She is very good. Shows incredible promise and her standard is wonderful . For a high school production, she puts many professionals to shame. I'm incredibly impressed
It was HS [and remarkably was approved by administration at dress rehearsal]!.. and it was the watered-down version [by necessity]. See ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Q1AgaHeuGqk.html .
wow the tempo in the entr'acte is brutal lol, it's even faster than the cast album recording of the similar part in the overture, which was already really fast.... it makes the slowdown into the intro to act 2 so much more effective.
Boy, some of the doomsday sayers here are unbelievable. I agree that FOLLIES is a difficult show for high schoolers, not only for the emotional arc of the story but the singing and dancing requirements of the score. But these kids? They worked hard and knocked it out of the park. Little Vicky's Dance School. Get off your fat ass and YOU do that dancing. I give them an A+ for presentation..
I've seen many school musicals where they did not even try to do any type of dancing (Once Upon a Mattress, for example) and some where they at least try (The King and I, for another), and the dancing seems to make it much better. When we did K&I in my Senior year, they practiced the Anna/King dance until it was almost perfect, and it got a standing ovation.
Watching and sharing to Facebook for the umpteenth time. I LOVE this video. Must be my proletarian sense of not letting perfect blind us to GOOD. I would love to know where she is now...20 years later!?? Perhaps leojrevlis knows who she is and if she went into show business. She IS Charity!
Kudos to the lead in this number. Girl can sing. The ensemble, the musicians in the pit, the director/choreographer- everyone helped make this work. And, it should not work in a high school production. Impressive.
The girl playing sally....wow. Did not expect for a high schooler to sound like a mature 40 or 50 something broadway star. She does not even have a youthful sounding voice like a high schooler’s would.
