WOW! - Obviously the kids are very talented and the girl playing Millie is great, but I give a lot of credit to the teachers, director and the choreographer who knew how to build on the students best assets and not let them flounder WOW!!!
LOVE the Broadway choreography! I graduated in 2008 and we were the first to perform Millie in the county so we sold out just about every night's shows and we also did all the Broadway choreography! brings back sooo many amazing memories. Its been 4 years and anyone who was in it still talks about how amazing being in the show was! Thanks for posting :)
I've seen many school musicals where they did not even try to do any type of dancing (Once Upon a Mattress, for example) and some where they at least try (The King and I, for another), and the dancing seems to make it much better. When we did K&I in my Senior year, they practiced the Anna/King dance until it was almost perfect, and it got a standing ovation.
High School My BUTT!!! All the choreography was on point and so nice! Yall were getting it up there! I would Love to go to this school. My school sucks and never has done a musical. We just do small unknown plays. So I mostly do my stuff at my local community theatre. But WOW this is amazing. Especially the girl who plays Millie!
This is one of the best productions of Thoroughly Modern Millie I've seen. And by far one of the most impressive high school productions I've seen! Great Job!
This girl is fantastic! I couldn't believe this was a high school production. She's so good that even though the pit was out of tune she stuck right on pitch. Brava!!
I love this, and it's amazing for a high school production! Plus, the Millie is absolutely adorable, and I love the emotion she puts into her singing!!
O. M. G. There are not enough words... Excellent and Outstanding, come to mind first. Talent abounds at FLHS, without a doubt. Another 'jewel' in your Crown!!!
Wow, after reading these comments, im so appreciative that i go to this school. I actually just finished working on a production with "Millie", aka Julia. Shes got so much talent, and our school has such amazingly talent students. Love FLHS!
the choreography is great but it was going VERY fast the trumpets had some difficulties catching up but singing was great and dancing so accurate to the actual broadway version
i dont care if they copied the original.....THAT WAS INCREDIBLE!!!!!! that choreography is so hard and those kids had it down. and millie was great. Great Job!
we're doing a jr. production, so all the stuff about drugs got taken away and the people who edited it probably took away some singing parts and/or lines
omg a lot of haters around here... I imagine those who give bad critics are from other schools with bad musical productions hahahaha... Although they're not perfect, for me this is the best performance of that musical shown on youtube (high school production obviously) and I'm not from USA!!!
@mizbel101 I went there for regions try outs like in 7th grade and this year at Parsippany hill we did Millie. I was really surprised when I found out I gut the part for bun foo cause I was only a freshman
Truly brilliant!! The dancing was absolutely fantastic and the Millie was great!! Don't listen to all the negativity because it's simply not true! Wonderful job!
oh and btw, what's wrong if they decided to use the same choreography from the broadway show?... what really matters is the fact that was well executed and it wasn't boring and unsynchronized just like a lot of other high school productions...
We're doing this show right now. Our millie is a good singer, but can this millie come teach her how to act? like now? we're in in NJ too! lolz. (hey did you know that Anne Hathaway started at the papermill too :) )
The choreography is fucking amazing, but I feel like the ensemble voices don't blend that well...But the dancing is extremely impressive. I just finished my shows this evening and this choreography is practically Broadway worthy.
@180blackops oh hush! She has a lovely voice! Being a music student I can tell she has quite a nice voice, she may need a tad bit of training but other than that she is quite nice :)
@kevkevshields um might i say something? i am a director and we are doing this and we have been doing musicals for the past 48 years and what ive learned a musical and over all theatre is not about the singing its about the acting and the pasion put into the production thats all that matter (our theatre seats over 900 people we do 12 performances and we still have to turn people away on our final performance because of the full house and our singing isnt that great)
Why is everyone saying this is bad? this was fantastic! It might be the same dance moves as Broadway, and its great that it is. Didn't this show win a tony for its choreography? everyone amazing and the men have suits that fit! at my school the suits are garbage and don't fit anyone. This was an awesome performance!
What high school is this? That's quite impressive for a high school production...especially dance wise. It's really hard to find teenage boys who are able or even willing to dance.
@mizbel101 thanks and the shows a lot better cause the movie has graydon fall inlove with miss dorthy but in the play ching ho rescues miss dorthy so she fall in love with him like that
Wow just as good as our production! Ours got nominated for an awards thing called the Ben Vereens. 2 actresses also got individual Ben Vereen awards. We have for the past atleast 3 years proven dominance over the state
@Ilnoscopedjfk haha guess what? I was did a production of this this past june!!! (so now i know the show...and i agree the show IS better than the movie!)
how did it win best production? all they did was steal the choreography from broadway off a dvd or RU-vid and replicate it. Or did someone who did the show and had permission to re-create the original broadway choreography stage it?
Perhaps read the judges' handbook for the correct criteria when evaluating a production. You'll find that they are to judge on what they see [execution], and not where it came from. I mean, why do inferior clunky choreography when you can do "the best" and perform it competently"? Just sayin'.
