What an awesome build and video showing how its all done, thanks for taking the time to show us all how you did it. And kudos to you for having the skills to pull it off!
Good to know about weeve care doing mine but I'm laying a strip of kevler on bottom so if it scrapes won't damage carbon fibre (F1 cars have kevler skid pads just a idea)
Thank you, I have a four-part video series on the actual build of the box that details all of the items needed to make your own. You will need to look back in my videos to find them however because they are from about four years ago.
Question. Are the chrome inserts removable? Hard to tell from the video. Meaning, could I pop out the chrome inserts, paint them black, then reinstall?
Hey btw i have the same q50, is your q lowered at all? Or is it the front lip and side skirt that makes it look lower? Just curious because i dont plan on lowering my q50 anytime soon but i did order that same side skirt and debating on this front lip you have on or a different one. Please respond and let me know id really appreciate it man!
Right so my car is not lowered at all. It is the all-wheel-drive model and I think a little bit higher than a rear wheel drive is. The side skirts and front lip do not physically lower the body in any way shape or form. However, the reason it looks lower is because it eliminates that under curve that the front and sides naturally have on the car and makes flare out more from the door itself. I have videos on the diy prep and painting of those skirts if you go back in the video section far enough.
That was some great info on the front crome parts, I didnt know just those came off I was going to paint them today too so glad i saw this video haha. Now tomorrow im just going to take them off so I can do a nice job and not have to prep around the car so much!
The very corners of the shroud were overlapping the grille. I removed them as a precaution so the shroud lifted enough to clear the top corners of the black shell and not cause it to misalign while installing.
i don’t know anything about what to do/what products to get for my ABS spoiler i just bought to prevent cracking and rusting etc. do you happen to know the steps for that/and what products i need?! Thanks!!!
So with ABS you won’t have to worry about it rusting specifically. To prevent the hardware you use to install it from rusting, buy stainless steel hardware. ABS won’t crack on its own so make sure you don’t over tighten the bolts when installing and try to not hit it with anything heavy and you should be fine. If it’s a trunk spoiler you might be able to install it with 3m tape and be good to go depending on what type of spoiler it is.
@@Foxcrazeback again🤪🤦🏼♀️ for the sun exposure.. could i get krylon UV resistant spray paint to put on before the primer+black spray paint? and i would sand it first, correct?
@fitness.hanna.579 ahh so if your painting them you would first scuff it till its dull in appearance and clean it well. Primer, color coat, then for UV protection finish it off with 3-4 coats of Spraymax 2k clear coat. They sell it on Amazon and it comes in a can. It’s exactly what I used. The UV protection will always go on last to protect the paint.
Nice video! 👍 Can I use this 2k spray can to clear coat my entire car at once with out doing panel by panel? If yes about how many cans will I need ? I have a 2005 Chevy cavalier.small car
Thank you! So these cans are extremely effective but I would not try running passes across the entire vehicle like you would a spray gun. These cans don’t have enough pressure to maintain that length of pass for that long and not cause the paint to randomly spit. These cans are best used panel by panel and is achievable just takes a bit longer.
If the reflector wasn't broken, would one be able to snap off the top (painted) shell so easily? It looks like the reflector's screw that goes into that top part broke off thereby freeing the top part to be simply pulled off. Is that correct? Thank, super helpful video.
You are correct, it will not come off at all if the reflector isn’t broken. the entire front of the mirror housing top (blue) and bottom(black) have to come off as one piece before being able to remove the top (blue) piece from the reflector housing.
Incredible work man, great time lapse too. Also like how you mounted the amp in the opening for better cooling, smart move. Really awesome finished product, the vinyl wrap looks clean.
I thought so as well. Honestly I think it look better than the rock creek version. since the platinum grille didn’t have the alloy color rings at the top of the grill like the rock creek has.
You can prob get away with two of each I used three cans of clear to make sure it was even all over and didn’t have any dry looking areas after curing.
This was what was requested to be done. That said, some people prefer the visual depth that actual carbon produces when cleared. Some hydro prints do a decent job from a distance and does require less work. But when you get up close the hydrodip doesn’t produce the same visual depth that real carbon does.
Thanks man, i was able to use a long pick tool and popped the secondary release from the inside of the fender. I removed the washer fill tube and was able to see the latch box
