Hello everyone and welcome to Paul's Railroad. I have always been interested in different forms of art. I have a background in graphic art design and photography. During my degree pursuits I was introduced to 3D modeling. This opened a whole new avenue for me to explore artistically. I continued learning about 3D modeling and purchased my first 3D printer. At about the same time my love of model railroading resurfaced and I thought what better way to bring all of my interest in the different art forms than to build my own model railroad layout.
So that brings me to the reason for creating this channel. Model railroading can be an expensive hobby, and I wanted to create my own layout without breaking the bank. I want to share this journey with all of you. Hopefully what I learn will help you in creating your own layout.
Seems my previous comment didn't post or something, I suggest a transparent two tone effect with blue as base and green as a translucent to give it that yellowish hue from different light conditions.
That's what they say. I don't have any way of testing the actual pressure, but it does push some of the thickest paints that I use through the airbrush at that setting with ease.
Of the two colors, I'd choose green. I'd also say fill in the hood area before painting. I'm not an HO racer, but I'd be inclined to round over the sharp inner edges of the tires. I'd hope all those small snap-in plastic parts stay in place after the car sees some use. Otherwise, you end up with a beautiful looking shelf queen. Have you already built other Auto World kits?
I have built several other kits from Autoworld and they are pretty robust. They even stand up to my 5 year old grandson who still hasn't grasped the concept of slowing down for corners yet. LOL.
I am a lady and I also have a tip that works really well and it is very inexpensive. My children had bb guns when they were young so I realized early on through thinning my nail polish and they contained what appeared to be bb's so I just buy bbs because there are so many in the container and will last a lifetime.
@@PaulsRailroad I think you're right. I spent 4hrs yesterday searching for a nizzle even remotels sililar and couldn't find one. Bummer as I do like this Airbrush in how it feels in the hand
Great tips thank you! Going to try wwf in my next paint mix. 😊 edit to add, can i use wwf alone to thin or do i need to use distilled water with it as well?
Just bought my 1st airbrush.Waiting on it to come in the mail. Your video has been super helpful. Especially with the assembly/disassembly of the brush itself. Just subscribed. Looking forward to seeing More videos. Keep up the good work 👍
@kennyrosenyc I thought you could as well. Buti i tried and it does not work. Then I read the fine print on the listing on Amazon and it says that it doesn't work. And that kinda sucks.
@@PaulsRailroad Yeah well. I'm new to this, I think it might be my new hobby as I work from home and often get bored. This might be my first piece of gear. But.... Duncan Custom Airbrush (the RU-vid channel) has a portable airbrush that apparently, he had a hand in designing. So I'm sort of torn. But I think I like this one better.
@kennyrosenyc I like this airbrush kit, but I'm not an airbrush guy. I just use one to paint models, so it's just a tool same as a paint brush. I'd someone is helping to design one then they probably know a whole heck of a lot more about them than I do. His very well may be a better kit than this one. But I don't know the price difference and that may be a deciding factor.
Im gonna try to buy this for my first airbrush kit. My dad and i bought a 1/35 tnk and 1/350 ship. We did not know we had to paint it. Searched what to do in youtube and found u. Hopes this works.
This is great idea and one of the least expensive and quick ways to put up a backdrop. I did this about a year ago with a plain blue roll, cutting it into two two foot wide pieces. Then used white and grey spray primer to make clouds.
Thank you. I tried airbrushing clouds and I just didn't Ike the way they came out. I'm sure I could have gotten. Them down, but I'm lazy and didn't want to take the time. LOL. This will work for now. Thank you for watching and commenting.
Thank you. It's not the prettiest backdrop, but I think once I get the scenery details done most of it will be hidden and blend in and look much better.
I kinda figured it wouldn't work well, but you are saying it won't run the second airbrush at all. Well that kinda sucks. Thank you for letting us know.
nice.... i was looking at carrera website.. i see they have some nascar nextgen Camaro zl1 cars coming soon kinda make me wanna think about getting back in to it..
Just do it. I have so much fun with mine. Heck my grand son was over this past weekend and put almost a thousand laps on my track..... It beats the heck out of computer games.
Excellent review of a beautiful car! A McLaren 720S is actually my track record holder, and all of the McLarens I have are very fast. Other Carrera slot car chassis that always seem to be very quick no matter what livery they're on are the Porsche 911 RSR and the DTM Audi and DTM BMW M4.
Warhammer terrain is so stagnant and boring. Thank God for train enthusiasts, tank heads, and diorama channels for actually having advice worth taking.
I've been getting them from Hobby Lobby. They have some m2 cars that have three sets of different wheels and tires that you can change out. So you get 4 sets of wheels and I believe they are around 9 dollars per car. They also carry stand alone wheel packs. It's hit and miss whether they have then in stock. I buy them when I see them.
Nice shipment and beautiful McLaren, thanks for sharing! I second your words about CarreraSlots (I am not affiliated with them in any way). I've purchased items through many slot car stores, and quickly learned that they have the best prices and best customer service. There is one important key to making a purchase through them, and that is their standard shipping jumps from $9 if the order is less than $100, to $14 for everything over $100. So the best way to order from them is to stay under but very close to the $100 threshold or wait until you have more to purchase and then completely blow out a large order and only pay $14 total shipping for the entire order. Hope this helps anyone reading this!
Okay question, I have the first model, the one he said was a bitch to put back together, I did a deep clean, and the air/paint button came out and don’t think I’m putting it back together right because I’m not getting any air pressure. Can anyone help me?
Yeah, putting the trigger back in can be a real PITA in any airbrush. It sounds as if you didn't get trigger in straight. The bar that is attached by the pin below the trigger has to go straight down on top of the air valve plunger that the hose screws onto. They can fold up if you don't hit that tiny plunger area just right. Best way to tell is to press down on your trigger. You should feel a springing action. If it just feels solid then that may very well be the issue.
@@PaulsRailroad I watched your other video and got it back together right but it’s still no activating the plunger correctly? It pushes down and springs up but still no air
Ok. This may be a dumb question, but just trying to figure it out. Is the air compressor charged up, and does it kick on when you press the power button?
Currently returning mine, no clue what was wrong but it just never worked out of the box. Don’t know if I need to set it up or anything but I thought it’d work out the box. Thing sucks.
Sorry to hear that it didn't work. It's odd that it didn't work this companies products are very good for their price point. Still I hate to hear that something doesn't work, especially since I said it is a good product. Thank you for letting me know though that way if I hear more issues from viewers like yourself, then I will most certainly not work with a company again to review their products. Take care.
@@PaulsRailroad based off all the good reviews I decided to do the return for a replacement option. So hopefully the replacement works?? If it doesn’t then yea it truly is a bad product in my eyes. I’m still hopeful. There isn’t anything you need to do to get going though correct? Just pour the paint in the cup and start spraying? I tried that and no paint would come out, but I could feel the air. Very interesting.
Question. Are you using airbrush specific paints and are you thinning the paint that you are using. If you are using craft paints like Apple Barrel, etc. right out of the bottle, they are too thick to go through an airbrush.
