@gerardobrito3408 jamming only works if you connect with security, and right now both TyrantKabuteri and MagnaX will make sure that doesnt happen 😅 raw dp is just too important to topple a format of tall stacks packed with immunity, so i opted for Tai to help make sure we clear the dp thresholds that are asked of us. Very notably, a Machinedramon backed up by a single Tai reaches 13k which means MagnaX cant safely swing through it and needs another way to trigger his immunity on followup turns
If you ever get the opportunity... on the opposite side of the island of Roatan... CoCo View resort. The diving is absolutely amazing. The resort is very low key. Very "meat and potatoes", but the diving is just phenomenal. Makes the north side seem pathetic. Even has a huge snorkeling area in "the front yard", right on top of the wall. It's known as the "summer camp for divers".
@chrisjohnson4402 Yeah, the diving in Costa Maya was pretty so-so, but to be fair the waves were 3-4 foot and we didn't even attempt the second dive 😅 they had us in a tiny little fishing boat packed with like 10 people, then the storm started picking up even more and we didn't want to risk it. I wound up seeing a sea turtle myself but that was aboutbit aside from the plentiful reef fish. The reef itself was pretty cool though, massive chasms and cracks in the rock formation
ngl, DinoRexMon would have been huge if it had 1 main change (This card is treated as having Tyrannomon in its name) if it just had that one sentence, then it would have been a complete staple in Tyrannomon decks easily as a side mega to Rust for a bit of variation.
Ive made that exact argument before. As it stands he just doesnt have a strategy he fits cleanly into. He still does like... okay? In Tyranno lists but theres very little incentive to play him over other alternatives
Red Hybrid in my experience is heavily slanted in Machine's favor, but its a question of speed. If they cant kill you outright, they get punished hard on the crackback. Its a deck that relies strictly on normal deletion so it plays into Machine's strengths.
my favourite thing about the digimon tcg is how they come up with all these different mechanics to represent the lore like hybrid or xros evolutions and mind links really makes me appreciate how digimon as a whole never limited itself to one formular and keeps coming up with new ideas all the time anyways one reference I like is Ornismon and Murmukusmon interaction based on the Frontier movie!! bt6 Murmukusmon needs 10 Digimon in trash to summon Ornismon for free which is a reference to Darcmon/Hippogryphomon making the humanoid and beast digimon kill eachother to use their digieggs to summon Ornismon. bt17 also comes with Murmukusmon and Ornismon which mention darcmon and hippogryphomon as well as Ornismon getting more dp when another lvl 6 digimon (aka murmukusmon) is in play
Quick question, I know it might be dumb, but my friends takes this as gospel. Can I digivolve into Miragegaogamon Burst mode regularly? My friend told me there was an errata where the burst modes can only burst digivolve.
That is incorrect, no such errata exists. Burst digivolving is just an alternate digivolution condition, it's in the same vein as DNA Digivolving or any of the other such methods. If you meet the special digivolution method requirements you are free to use that alternate method, but as long as there's base digivolution requirements (a colored circle that outlines what you digivolve from on the left side of the card) you can digivolve using that method at any time. Just like if I have bt8 Kimeramon, obviously digivolving through the DNA method is preferred, but he can still digivolve from any color level 4 for a cost of 4
been testing the purple base ukkomon machinedramon people are talking about here, it is indeed way faster than the traditional build. however, i'm just guessing at the ratios/tech right now. wish someone would do a deck profile of one that they topped with
I picked up the materials for purple base and am just waiting to get a few things in the mail atm! I think purple base has a lot of strengths, it just also has some scary weaknesses. If you cant establish a black source you can have a hard time doing much during the course of the game, but Ukko and Demimera can obviously help to hopefully keep that from being a problem
@@AvidHerpetologist yeah, it's rough playing out the supreme connections if you don't have analogman and the opponent has a chokehold on the field, like versus numemon or yellow decks for example. floodgates that prevent supreme connection and or ex1 machinedramon's memory gain is also a problem, and numemon can comfortably run both
Great video, great details. In Digimon Digital Card Battle for the PS1, some digimon cards have backgrounds other don´t, those that have a background can be found in Digimon World 1 in those places.
ahhhh i need found the hoverespimon xDDDD and now the publimon because i hate when enemy use the angemon and put my lv6 in the top security so karma xDD
Idk what it is but my silly inner child just gets so hyped hearing him shout the name of the attack. I get the same goosbumps I do when I hear Omnimon shout "Supreme Cannon". It just resonates in your gut, good stuff 👌
Would have preferred if you'd covered more cards and cut down on the explanation. Literally everyone watching this video remembers the first Arc of Digimon adventure, you don't need to go over it in so much detail
I mean sure I dont NEED to, but nostalgia and reminiscing on those moments from childhood is the purpose of the video! I try to keep my explanations in alot of my content fairly concise, especially when im aiming for a full 10-point discussion, but with this one I wanted to take my time and really explore the references and why they were so emotionally impactful in the first place 🙂 it's a hard balance to try and make it digestable for people who may not have known one particular reference and want to know the backstory, while also giving people who DO know the reference a chance to enjoy and remember the moment itself.
BT16 Malomyotismon is basically full of this. From sacrificing Yukio to be reborn, to "eating" Arukenimon and Mummymon to achieve His full strength. Hell, even the old Arukenimon and Mummymon can be deleted to basically summon Him.
Totally agree, basically every iteration of Malo and the cards around him have been great, id honestly be hard pressed to pick just one and would likely have to discuss them all 😅
i'm using 2 copies of ex3 cyberdramon instead of DP megadra/gigadra because it is all turns, as well as 2 ex2 ryo akiyama for 1k until the end of my opponents turn when i swing with machinedra. since i'm still using commandra/hi-commandra to be immune to chaos degrade/angemon, the ryos basically search like 70%+ of the deck, since i have 'dramons' in every level. for more synergy with ryo's dramon search, a lot of my level 5s are replaced with dramon equivalents, such as replacing st15 metalgreymon with ex1 megadramon for the eggs i am using st15 koromon for 1k all turns when i block, or my opponent blocks, and 1 bt14 missimon to prevent myself from decking out in long grindy matchups by recycling my commandramons/hi-commandramons lvl 6s i'm running 3 bt11 machinedramon, 3 chaosdra, 2 ex1 machinedra, 2 chaos x with 0 supreme connection, but maybe i'll try your idea of cutting bt11 machinedra for supreme connections and more ex1 machinedra since DP neg is everywhere this format.
That approach is def not one ive heard! I like the d-brigade package alot but hadnt considered how well it synergizes with Ryo. As far as top end yeah, I strongly recommend swapping out the machines for connections. Im actually adjusting my list after some more testing, going down to only 7 rookies and 5 champs while bumping up AHMD to 3, its just utterly vital to be able to blitz in EX1 on pivotal turns. Ex1 is by far the best card in the deck right now, ive considered bumping him up to 4 even, but i think that could be a few too heavy on the topend. I will say time and time again Tai is proving to be exceptional this format, the dp boost is relevant in just about every matchup right now. Im still very wary of EX3 Cyberdramon though, there are situations id rather just have the boost, especially in the Tyrant matchup where if its Cyberdramon you cant swing over it unless they choose to redirect, and i tend to shy away from scenarios that put the decision in my opponents hands. That being said, including a copy of ex3 WITH the bt6 pair sounds solid. I even said in the video, db buffs are hugely relevant right now.
@@AvidHerpetologist when you attack with machine, you can suspend ryo to give machinedramon 1k, and when he becomes suspended he keeps your ex3 cyberdramon's DP buff active when you attack, giving +3k in total both on your turn and your opponent's turn, but yeah it definitely can be bad if you don't see both when you need to, i understand the preference of consistency with the DP megadramon/gigadramons
Tbh i love everything about the RK archetype. I need to refresh on the X Antibody storyline before including it in a vid though! But considering Omni went from the ultimate hero to literally attempting genocide, Id say the story is interesting enough to cover 😅
Depends on how you mean. If youre referring to Mother-D, then no, shes unaffected by the effects of your Opp's Digimon under any and all circumstances. But let's say your opp was somehow in a position with multiple searchers on board, yes it would target one and delete them all
My favorite flavor is either the fact that magnagarurumon (both bt7 and the new one coming out) ditches its sources for effects simulating it losing ammo or the fact that a full galacticmon stack has 3 lives like in the game.
By far my favorite video thus far! I know a HEFTY majority of your followers are here for Digimon content, but I have always wanted this sort of video for the Chaotic card game. Those cards have a ton of "flavor" and I always loved just exploring the artwork! But anyways, this brought back some MAJOR nostalgia. RIP Angemon. One of the moments of Digimon cinema that I still haven't forgotten haha
@@AvidHerpetologist also the new Diaboromon win condition card is called “Clock of the End” you win the game by having all 4 of these cards in the battle area. Its the reference to how they had to defeat diaboromon before the nukes exploded
You're just jealous you never got to enjoy Wendigomon jammin to Smash Mouth 😏😂 yeah its campy but its also very early 2000s, it might be cringe, but its still my childhood 😅
@cycle1990 dont lol it really isnt that bad. I enjoyed the 2020 show enough to watch through it twice but my issues with it were more structural than anything. (Idk why they thought it was a good idea to start the show off by copying the Our War Game plot.. the reason that movie was so hype was because of the payoff after the original show)
@@AvidHerpetologist idk about that, do you still do your own music? Or are you keeping the original? :D imo always watch in original dub with subtitles
Haha low hanging fruit or not, sometimes it's just nice to reminisce 🙂 tbh I wish id played Digimon World back in the day, I know there are a ton of references to that game but it's alot harder to catch up on than just watching a TV series 🙃
What a phenomenal, informative and well put together video. Flavor has always been such an important part of card games, and this video was a real treat from start to finish. I really look forward to more videos in the same style as this one.
Digimon Savers/Data Squad probably has the most amount of flavorful representation in the card game compared to any of the Digimon anime. You have things like certain Marcus's being treated like Digimon, or the Gizmon deleting other Digimon (including Lv 2's in the Breeding Zone despite the game's standard rules) to reduce their play cost, but probably my all time favorite is the Burst Digivolution mechanic as a whole. Burst Digivolve appeared in Bt 13, and unlike other Digivolution methods in the TCG, Burst needs a tamer in order to function. This is important because Burst Digivolve is the one of the few Digivolution methods that need a tamer in canon (the only other method I can think of is Bio-Merge). I just think its neat that only Digimon partnered with tamers can Burst Digivolve, and that its reflected in the TCG.
I agree, there are quite a few Savers cards ill likely cover in future entries! Idk how i feel about burst mode in the tcg though... bouncing a tamer is just... odd? Idk how else to describe it lol it very obviously works that way for game balance mechanically, but functionally i dont know how to interpret that action 😅 but yeah, Marcus punching things to create digivolution, the Gizamon cards and honestly even Ravemon hitting and then dissapearing is pretty cool!
I was looking over the Ulforce cards but outside of references involving Rina there isnt much sadly, Ulforce's whole thing is being super fast, which is why most of his cards do things to unsuspend himself, but thats about it 😐 i really like both Ulforce and Examon's support but the cards sadly dont make much in the reference department
Color requirements! At the time of EX2 Leomon was a blue archetype, but once they started expanding it they abandoned blue completely and went into yellow / green / black, so since Leomon isnt named on Fist, the only leos that can use it are the old ones 😅
Using Adventure references like jangling keys in front of people because the longer you go without talking about Adventure the less people pay attention. No no, I'm sorry I talked so much about Beelzemon! Look, look it's Omnimon! You like Omnimon, right?! Keep watching the video!
I mean, Im not really sure what point you're trying to make 😂 they reference Adventure alot in the card game, and as I mentioned it's a video concept I plan to revisit. Why not cover some of the obvious ones in the first entry to introduce the concept 😅 also yeah, people like adventure 🤷♂️ OWG is widely considered some of the best Digimon media out there so why wouldnt I cover it. I feel like I gave plenty of time and attention to all of the entries except maybe Angemon because there was less to discuss, just seems like unusual criticism 😅
@@AvidHerpetologist It's not really a criticism of you specifically, it's more exasperation that pretty much any video talking about Digimon is obligated to spend half of its runtime reminiscing about Adventure because it works better with the algorithim. I don't hate the player, I hate the game.
@@AvidHerpetologist And I do apologize for wording my issue as if it was a direct criticism towards you, that was my mistake. I was making a joke of it, but a poorly worded, misinterpreted joke is a failing on my part, not yours.
@StarkMaximum no worries man! I try my best to take any criticism and feedback in stride so I can improve my craft, I just wasnt sure what to make of the initial comment 😅 I think the point you made is totally valid and ill be sure to diversify a bit more in the next installment 😊
On the topic of Omnimon and Diaboromon I love BT5 Armageddemon being able to stop most effects from Lv 7 Digimon like Omnimon because it's a form Diaboromon took specifically to counter it
@@AvidHerpetologist i know it is early 4kids censorship. i watched that episode for the first time in dutch, and i compleetly forgot that some of the lines are lame. than again, i was about 7 to 9 years old at the time. now i refuse to watch any anime in any spoken word but japanese (the original)
@skullwolff9442 meh, the original series was always extremely campy, thats part of the charm for people who grew up with it. I watched the 2020 reboot subbed and dubbed, either way i still didnt enjoy it as much as the original tbh 😅
@@AvidHerpetologist i fell in love with skullgreymon. when i first saw him, i tought it was the coollest digimon out there, was dissapointed that metalgreymon was the intended. i thought skullgreymon was way more awesome. defently left a lasting impact on me. scary, cool, ferrosios, love it. he is still one of my favorete digivolution lines. together with metalseadramon, and mastemon. 1rst metalseadramon, 2nd machinedramon, 3th mastemon, if you wanted to know where i rank them.
Low hanging fruit but imma say it Ex01 Machinedramon combining the ex01 gang of cyborgs into itself is so cool. Helps that the parts of the Ex01 gang are the parts built into its body
Not low hanging at all! Also to put a finer point on it, Machine was created in lore using the parts of 5 cyborgs, which is why he uses that particular number. And yeah, they just happened to be the 5 the card was released with! Gotta love it 😊
