This channel is all about sports, fun and positivity…and it helps to be a Lions fan!
My name is John. I am 38 years old and live in Glens Falls, NY. I am originally from South Lyon, Michigan and grew up an avid Detroit sports fan with my family and friends. Now I am married with a 7 year old boy working a full time job in Senior Living. Although I spend most of my time managing "life" my true passion is what you find here in this channel.
Please enjoy and have fun. Think about subscribing if you like the content. Go Lions!
Teams lose players each season. I’m not a big fan of taking previously injured players and hoping they’re still healthy enough for your team. Reader Davenport and Davis are big question marks for me and doubt they’ll be available for half the season
You are absolutely right. Huge risk signings with major upside. I really believe the organization understands the risk. In the case of the secondary they also double dip with young corners to build behind Davis. For the DLine they still have Alim McNeil and they like Levi Onwuzurike behind Reader. Insurance if you will. Risky though!
From front to back we are deep. Rakstraw and Branch in the Nickle and iffy, Joseph and Arnold and Bates. Don't forget Robertson as well. Line is Reader, and McNiel, Hutch and Davenport with Houston and God knows who else with Campbell and Anzalone backing them up. This defense makes me drool. The offensive depth has me more worried
You and your team do some of the best editing I have seen, of the 20 or so Lions podcasts that I subscribe to. The flow of your videos and their visual content is incredibly smooth. Great job!
This means a lot to me. This is the honest truth. This “team” is 💯 me. I fully plan, record, edit my own content. It’s truly a passion and a comment like this makes it all worth it.
We were so desperate at the time for secondary help, we reached and signed a couple of has beens with with injuries. This year is a whole different situation, and its going to help so much! One more year of drafting and our secondary will be as good as our run defense. *LIONS SUPERBOWL* *2024/25 IS OUR TIME*
The Lions got the kicker Bates! If he makes the team I think that there will be times when we get the ball back at the end of the first with little time left. An explosive kick return or play will get us to midfield and Bates gets a chance at 3 points that weren't possible in recent years. I think we going to Sizzler!!
@@johnnygazsports Please be the next Jason Hanson🙏🏻. Money from 55 and closer and capable of breaking the record on the right day. Our special teams about to be special as f.
@@johnnygazsports I’ve been saying for the last 2 years that they need to get at least 2 Awsome O Line guys in the draft. But they didn’t of course. Bears need to develop players better. That’s ok. We got D ~ Mont.
My expectations and excitement for this year's team was already sky high. But after hearing Williams speak the other day it's on a whole new level. He's gonna make such a difference for everyone along the front. Hutch will benefit from this the most and finish off more of all those pressures he gets. I think he's gonna challenge for the sack record this year. Can't wait for September
So you are saying he has absolutely no shot and never in the discussion? No more improved play. Almost rookie of the year. Pro Bowler in 2023. 11.5 sacks. That's it huh?
Ya it's hard to be chosen the DPOY, there can only be one and often times it's built off not only stats but narrative. If Hutch fills the stat sheet & the Lions do what we think they can do record wise this year, he can obviously be in the discussion for the award 💯
Not to nitpick but Detroit is pronounced Deh-troyt...not Dee-troyt. As a native of the city, with roots going back to the early 1800s, it bugs me that its pronouncement was co-opted by southerners who moved here due to jobs in the automotive industry, and it stuck.
I appreciate the feedback. My family and I have lived in southeast MI our whole lives. All of my families roots are from Livonia, South Lyon, Brighton, Walled Lake, etc. If the pronunciation is a big issue I cannot promise that is a change I can make. I have been a Lions fans since before I was born and will continue to yell "DEEEEEEEETROIT" until my lungs give out. Go Lions!
Also you must have really hated Pistons announcer and MC Mason because his famous line was....DEEEEEEEEEETROIT BASSSSSKETBALLLLLL!" Would have sounded weird if he yelled "DEHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHTROIT BASKETBALL"
Lol 😂 Fred. I understand the Dynasty thing but not your other comments. But I’m with you brother. Brad Holmes is building a Dynasty. I’ve been saying this for about a year. I’m 100% with ya brother.
Almost half the people I heard talk basically said “they already had Gibbs/Monty when they had Swift and Williams”. Boy what a miss that comparison was 😂
The upgrade was HUGE. People got overly bent on the fact that Williams scored so may TD’s in short yardage situations behind a dominant OLine. Throw a true 3 down back and a superstar like Gibbs and you have changed the dynamic.
Most impressed with your take on the Detroit Lions offense will dominate in the 2024 season. Defensively I think we shored it up nicely see you and the Lions in the super bowl 🎉
He comes from a great program. He played well enough to be a top 2 corner in the draft and was still ascending in development when he was drafted. He’s A future HOFer if he stays healthy in my way too early to say such things opinion.
Yup. And yet, only about half of these moments were the Lions beating themselves. The other half were either bad calls by the officials or crazy bad luck. The Lions didn’t just play poorly; they also had a ton of bad luck and bad calls against them as well.
Davis is an excellent man CB but a poor zone corner. Rakestraw can play inside outside man and zone. Amik can play all over the place as well. I’m not as high on Terrion as others but with time, he has a chance to be great.
I was a big Bijan cat. However after we got D~Mont I said we need Gibbs. But I never thought we would get him @12. Brad Holmes does it again. With the move back we got the best RB/ Weapon and we got Laporta. Absolutely Awesome job from Brad Holmes.
@@johnnygazsports Two questions: If James Mitchell fell in the woods and nobody was there to hear it…? 2: How many HOF’ers are currently on this roster? Obviously it’s a big projection but I say it’s already the most the Lions have put together in the last 50 years. All in there prime…. We going to Sizzler this year.
What I like about these guys is how good they all are in versatility (a staple of Lions players) and run support. Most teams will be forced get away from the run early in the games. The pass rush opportunity should be much improved this season as a result. I agree with most of your statements. However, when it comes to the reason that the Lions didn't bring back CJGJ... I believe that CJGJ didn't want to come back for a rotational role. He came here on a one year prove it deal. Missed the season. When he came back others had stepped up and he wasn't given the role he expected. Not exactly what he signed up for IMO. From the Lions side, they knew who CJGJ was when they brought him here so I don't agree that his personality was a turn off for them. I do think his personality was a turn off for fans, but I believe that's because he missed the season and couldn't contribute to the wins. Fans are fickle, but CJGJ can ball. Thanks!
I appreciate that opinion. You might be right. Certainly only my opinion but he seems like a guy that would have flip flopped no matter where he ended up. Track record. A guy that produces that much and no team to this point wants to offer anything longer than a one year....I question that but there are always other factors.
@@johnnygazsports The 1 year situation is due to the safety market in general (J Simmons is unemployed!!). CJGJ on the other hand is back with another team that knows him and his track record. A team with realistic SB aspirations wanted him back in the fold ASAP. Opinions vary. Thanks again
I completely agree about CJGJ. Elite athlete and great energy, but just not a good fit for the Lions. And I may be biased against Cam Sutton, but I am so glad he’s gone. He may simply have been asked to do too much as CB1. How many times did I see this? : 1. The quarterback completes a pass to a receiver wide open near Cam Sutton. 2. Cam Sutton is about 6 yards away, but he dives to the ground in the general direction of that receiver. 3. Maybe Cam Sutton is trying to make a shoelace tackle, but his fingertips are still at least 3 yards away from the receiver, who races away from him, while he lies there on the turf, gasping like a fish on the beach and completely out of the rest of the play. The futility of watching him uselessly lying there on the ground over and over with something I just couldn’t stand,
I 1000% agree with your Cam Sutton assessment. He is not a man corner at all. Lacks pure athleticism. He is a serviceable #2 at best but I am glad they moved on. You are spot on with your 3 points.
Best running UNIT in the league for sure. Got arguably the best O-line in the league, arguably the best 1-2 RB combo and arguably the best run blocking WRs/TEs in the league. Some teams might be able to argue that they have the best any 3 of those, but nobody can argue they the best all 3 of those except the Lions.
@@johnnygazsports it already was scary last season, I think it's gonna be downright frightening for defenses!!! I just hope the defense is as scary as I think it could be!!!!
They don't utilize them enough, they could use the run more to control the clock better and control the temple of the game, they lead with the pass instead of the run, there were games last season where they totally went away from the run,
My thought is they get much more involved in the passing game this year which could eat into some ground yards but in the end I think they will come up with a good mix. Hopefully they get more from Jamo this year so that they can be used primarily as running and play action threats.
I agree that D Mo and Gibby are the best duo in the NFL and our offensive line is absolutely the best in the league so it has to be a pleasure for all the offensive players that run the ball. #OnePride
That’s one of the reasons I feel good about him going into this year. He is willing to do the little things. Hopefully that means more production this year!
Nah he clearly needs seasoning. I think they're are some fans out there that think he is the answer to something. Time will tell but my argument is dont jump the gun and enjoy what you have!
No more S.O.L...ive been waiting for this team since the 80s..the Lions backed up everything they said they would do and took it to the N.F.L. and will now continue to do so on a higher level that the Lions have ever shown..GO LIONS!!!
Since the 80s..you gotta love the Dan Orlavski running out of the end zone thinking he's going to make a legal pass after running all over the out of bounds line
