We post climbing gear related videos. Sometimes they're simple reviews, other times they're interviews with manufacturers or gear representatives, or you might find stories of people using gear, or how to use gear. Basically, anything remotely climbing gear related is fair game. Enjoy!
It’s perfect! I’d love to see different materials and locking options (screw lock, tripods, etc). I’d like to eventually replace almost all my lockers with these hybrid style
Removing the Magnetic buckle is a huge downgrade IMO. I had my old sirocco for 4-5 years and it was never a problem and always worked well. I had to clean it a few times but that was it. I am "upgrading" to the new sirocco so will actually look to swap the buckles around so I can have a new Sirocco with the old magnetic buckle. You didn't mention the new Headtorch attachment design which was the primary design flaw with the old version IMO, it was always a PITA to get a head torch attached correctly.
So my New Sirocco has Arrived. The new front headtorch clips make it much easier to put a Head Torch on, I can even do it while wearing the Helmet which is nice. The strap can be swapped out fairly easily and is mostly the same as the previous version except the Magnetic Buckle. I will be swapping my straps around. The old version came with a set of spare Foam Pads, the new one did not, although they are cheap its a little disappointing given the price point. The material is also clearly a little different as well, the Foam on the new version is much more densely packed and is less flexible, not sure how this will impact durability etc.
I think a lot of people agree with you. Every piece of gear has advantages and disadvantages, this sewn anchor prioritizes size, weight, and speed over some of the other things you get with a traditional quad, as you mentioned.
Stiffer tho. Bullits has a small midsole under the toes and no 3-Force system. Seems like a slightly softer and more sticky Ozone to me, because of the same midsole, 3-Force System, while having one strap only, toerubber being more flexible but having the stickier Cat Rubber instead of XS Grip
Admitting that they did not know how to make shoes in the past says a lot about the future direction of the company. Keep it up! New designs & innovation looks promising!
Only thing holding me back from buying a pair rn is the HV and LV comparison. Like the drago lv’s fit me well but are a little mushy in the heel so i imagine i need to buy the lv drones? Or since this guy mentioned how their hv’s fit more like other brands lv’s that i should get the drone hv’s? Im just comfused
I know it's not always possible, but with any climbing shoes it's pretty critical to try them on, not just for volume and size but the general last shape. I'm a big fan of Mad Rock but the Drones do not fit my foot shape at all.
Definitely don’t like this feature particularly lowering when there’s high friction like a traversing route and your climber is lightweight, you may need that lever to be all the way open just to lower but with this it might be near impossible to lower under those circumstances, which is not ideal for the less experienced belayer that these are marketed towards. I’m glad I don’t have one and I wouldn’t really recommend this product over the regular grigri. The benefits this ABD provides are all things you can and should learn and train on the regular grigri.
Couldn't agree more. Each gym has their own requirements and if you're looking for a device to use in the gym, you need to determine what their requirements are, for sure.
My hirundos lower tie-in point torn through after 2years & 4months of use (2-3 times climbing a week). The dynema was torn completely and part of the orange fabric underneath too. I tend to fall often, but nontheless very disappointed with its quality to be honest. Mammut uses a plastic reinforcement at this tie-in point. Now I know why! And why a 5th loop? Nobody needs that and it sucks to attach any chalkbag now...
The lower price is appreciated, but the non-adjustable, non-replaceable, non-droppable leg loop adjusters is a deal-breaker. It does look good overall, though.
it would have been nice if they had made the legloop-adjustment similar to the construction that blue ice uses in their harnesses. would result in the same weight, but being adjustable and replaceable!
hey, @jimbo9203 where did you see that the 285g is for the XS? Edelrid has given us these weights for the Sirana TC: XS : 238 g / 8.4 oz S : 269 g / 9.5 oz M : 285 g / 10.1 oz L : 306 g / 10.8 oz XL : 327 g / 11.5 oz FWIW: Edelrid is the most proactive company at posting accurate weights and they often update weights to their website if there are changes between preproduction and production. We'd love to know if these posted weights are not correct so we can update the weighmyrack page: weighmyrack.com/harness/edelrid-sirana-tc
@@WeighMyRack Apologies for the ambiguity. I was referring to the weight stated at 3:01 in the video. I think most reps will usually give the weight for the Medium size, unless they specify otherwise
Thanks for your perspective. I'm curious which types of devices you currently use and feel comfortable with. Honestly curious, not trying to bait. Just trying to understand how people are perceiving the risk of the Pinch over other devices. Thanks!
Would you be willing to explain your thoughts? I'd like to hear how people are perceiving the risk associated with the Pinch compared to other devices. Thanks!
