Lots of backseat surfers out here Dude was getting rolled, totally out of control, the surfer was in control and had all the time in the world to see, prepare, and dodge the kook.. but didn't. If you don't understand this, get out of the water.
The cinematography is beyond excellent. This is a must-see film. I need to find out for my friends and I when this film will be shown. I live in Newport and used to bodysurf the wedge on the big days. I grew up on the beach in Laguna. But when the surf was right and the swell was NW, we'd drive up to Newport and hit the wedge.

A lot of people get tied up in this situation and when you’re not the rider basically not much you can do except try and make it over . Same goes for rider

EWWW GET OUT OF THAT!!! That foamy stuff!! YOU DO NOT WANT TO KNOW WHAT THAT IS! 🤢 think of the grossest thing in the ocean… and that’s probably what’s in there! No lie. I grew up on the beach, and lived there all my life, and someone told my best friend and I what it was, we didn’t believe it, and we asked another friend’s dad bc he was a scientist (can’t remember what they’re called right now, but they test soil, even chemicals in nuke plants, water (rivers, water reservoirs, etc for toxins) to ensure water is safe, and he told us to get a sample and bring it to him… and we’d find out, like a mini science project. so we did… now if there is that off white almost yellowish thick foam in the water, I don’t go. Like I said anything gross in the ocean you can think of is in that stuff. Small traces of Some kind of gas/liquid from dead matter (maybe methane not sure), semen, ecoli (shit), urine, decay of dead marine life, acids (probably vomit), etc etc… I remember the ecoli/fecal matter, semen, urine, and juices from the dead.. I can’t remember what else, probably at the time, I had no clue what he was talking about… lol. He couldn’t tell us for sure where it all came from, but he said he was pretty sure it was all marine life.
I used to boogie board the wedge & fish those rocks for halibut & Bonita in the 70s 80s 90s , a few times I’ve almost broke my neck from wave crashing hard on sand but I kept doing it cuz I loved the surf . If you ever visit & think you can body board or surf or even body surf the wedge you are mistaken you could get severely injured or much worse! Respect the Wedge !
