Thanks for your answer guy’s most of my flights are below 90 minutes so that would be good for me, but usually i’ll climb to 500/100 ft for my flights and i do fly a fast wing so am wondering how it performs for those conditions. Currently flying a corsair black devil with a lot of power. I have flown a OpenPPG sp140 with the 4kw battery, but i only get 40 minuten out of that so that is not worth it for me yet… hope the batteries keep evolving to more power to weight ratio.
@cloudpandarism2627
@cloudpandarism2627 3 месяца назад
@@arjankars5819 if you fly faster wings and treat an EPPG same as PPG the benefits you get flying electric wont be that big. of course you can always strap a bigger battery on but there is a limit what most people are ready to carry. a fast wing and playful flying style will problably not give you 90 min. but i think a solid hour with a bigger battery pack, lets say 4.7kwh, should be realistic and not adding too much weight. i also flew a blackdevil before. it was smooth and nice but not enough thrust for me. i will try get more tests done as soon i can

@cloudpandarism2627
@cloudpandarism2627 3 месяца назад
cheers mate, so the time you see right beside the battery gauge is counting reverse. means if you hold trottle lets say at cruise for leveled flight this timer will tell you how many minutes you have left at this power until the battery is empty. its an old display and this is usually used as battery caulometer for solar battery setup in your camper van or house. if you turn on things there this timer tells you hh:mm:ss you got left until battery is empty. its not a timer for how long we flew. 🫡 pilot used low throttle at landing and the displays last calculation shows that he could have flown 28 more minutes at that low throttle

@@cloudpandarism2627 I would be happy with 45 minutes of flight time with affordable batteries so that I could have at least 2 batteries (charging one while flying one) I like your idea of faceplant protection! Also, the stopping the prop vertically to reduce drag is a great idea. The big benefit I see in going electric (besides reliability), is the ability to glide silently (Ridge soar?) and power up when needed! I am 80 kg, so I am probably a candidate for your larger motor… Very excited to see your finished product… 🍻
@cloudpandarism2627
@cloudpandarism2627 4 месяца назад
@@RikToffen i see you know what you are talking about. the main idea is to have a set when i start sell it. i want 2 batteries included. 2x 30min packs.so the pilot can either choose to fly ultra lightweight for half hour or add another battery for longer flight time but having the benefit of more power and more flight time and with that also more weight. OR you can fly one pack while charging the other pack same time. since charging time is around 20-30 min only you can land. swap packs and go back up. like that people can fly the entire day instead of just flying one time and then wait for 4-6 hours for that single pack to be recharged. i am not sure yet how much of this will make it to production but i try to do it as planned. FPP mode is good for beginner or the occasionally mishap where you accidentally bump throttle while motor is sitting on ground. after you get better this feature can be turned off if pilot choose. prop stopping for better glide ratio is something i am proud off. that bothered me alot before and i am glad this is working so good already. yes i got a pilot here before who took the small 19kg unit up with the smallest battery, flew 5 min over to the mountain and stayed up for 2 hours, using the motor only couple of times to get back into a good thermal cycle. he landed with 80% battery left after that time. not on video. the medium sized motor will do but if you like to have a bit more punch the bigger motor is perfect. oh and yes battery price will also be lower. plus maybe even an option for a low cost pack around 500$ only. it will be a bit heavier and less capacity. but the advantage is you can get 3-4 packs for the same price as 1 big expensive battery. like that the lower cycle life also doenst matter much because you can swap packs and have 4 times the cycle life in theory. i post updates here as soon i can. meanwhile i am continue to work on the prototypes here. ps: do you have an electric car with power outlet? i read you say charge a pack while flying second. or is your field ready for 230V outlet?

Hi Panda, loving your work - thank you 🙏. Came across it whilst researching before my first PPG course. Quick question re regenerative energy. Does the potential for a regenerative battery function from windmilling make it worthwhile to include in your v3 or onwards?
@cloudpandarism2627
@cloudpandarism2627 4 месяца назад
cheers adam, good question! but answer is, absolutely not. we want stop windmilling to get a better glide factor. so i programmed a brake function in the ESC. letting go of throttle will stop the prop in 1 sec and keep it behind the pilot to reduce drag. but even with former versions the windmilling effect is so slow that there is zero advantage. we fly too slow for that to make a noticeable difference. if we would be 200km/h fast and hold that speed for 1 hour by having a regen setting build in the ESC than yes. its possible to charge the battery couple of %. happy to see you like what i do. 😅

I’d put in an order for a kit with 32.5 x 11” prop and 90cm cage. For tiny people.

the shortest pilot is 164cm here and he can fly the lightweight unit no problem mate. forget the tiny prop size

@@cloudpandarism2627 I fly a 32” prop - 90 frame it’s the size I can handle nicely and have fun with. After more research I can see that the battery’s are little too inadequate for my liking. So sticking to my MiniMot-G2 for the moment.

@@cloudpandarism2627 from what I have read, DJI batteries are very well regarded...and have a built in battery management system available...will look forward to more info in the future.

How about a bluetooth wireless throttle ? Would love to get rid of the cable and have a wireless throttle attached to my glove.

@cloudpandarism2627 4 месяца назад
look closer. its a waterproof hallsensor throttle with dedicated wireless connection which can be bind to any unit and not interfere with others. build in cruise control and remote strobe light button.

@@cloudpandarism2627 Will you share your design? This can be used on gas engines too if you use a servo on the throttle.

@@user-wo6zt1hf9q sure. you can buy this exact throttle from maytech and install a small BEC for powering it up. i tested it with moster185 before and it works very well compared with metal geared powerful servos.
