@@bobparsons77 It was an adventure for sure...and one that I wont forget anytime soon. Now i have my waypoint saved on ONx i can get back in a lot faster thats for sure. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Great accomplishment. It sure looks like a very remote lake. Cool echo at 12:55. pretty crazy bear encounter. Blitz sure does great with that off trail bushwhacking schmuck. And he doesn’t go off chasing the grizzlies. I would hope Journey wouldn’t do that either, but she sure loves chasing squirrels so I worry. Lol.
@@waterfallmadman oh man Blitz loves the squirrels we almost have the deer thing figured out. I ADDED extra echo and cranked up the audio on that part. there is a great natural echeo there but regular audio didnt do it justice. Yeah that hit me hard...i have personal stuff going on to...so it kinda came to a head. Thanks for the kind.words Madman.
Congratulation! Well done! It looks like a very lonely lake. Do you carry an air horn? It has worked for me in similar situations with various critters. Great video! Thanks for sharing! Hike on!
@@pilowespo Thanks for that my friend. Well.intell ya...that situatiin makes a good case for an airhorn doesnt it. A lot of near misses with the bears or other animals this year...so its just a matter of time before i have a run in...if i keep going into these places. Thats why i try to be extra loud.
Yikes! Hiking in the Cabinets can be stressful! Congratulations on achieving your goals! Hope the burger tasted good. Appreciate you bushwhacking to places that I will never go (for good reason! lol.)
@@darrenkwalsh Yeah it was the most bizzare situation to date..well except what happened at Cabin Lake years ago. Yes my pain is your pleasure! LOL! Glad u enjoyed...burger was decent.
You must have gone by Double lake first? When I did Double/Wishbone 20+ years ago, we were up above the creek, wasn't too bad. Over the years a lot of people have hacked blaze marks, but I don't thing there has ever been an official FS trail. As always, a fun watch. Keep it up.
@@keithmeyers1720 Doing Double Lake next season...gonna take that ridgeline that is to the left of Klatawa and drop into Double Lake. Gonna try to do 12 more (trips) lakes in the Cabinet WILDERNESS ares in 2025 and that should do it for all major and most minor lakes in the WILDERNESS area. Then will turn my attention to the Purcells and Vermillion in 2026.
@@hyoh-wu Done upper Bramlet?? Would be a good day hike. I've never been there. One of my fishing buddies swear he caught a fish in UB, he is not prone to fish stories either.
Yeah been to UB a few years back ...before i started documenting everything....was a big ol GRizz print in the snow. Wish i would have went up to Carney Peak for a view.
@@mountainwanderer Thanks Travis. Lake Osakis is now one of my favourite Lakes in the Cabinets....Pictures and videos just dont do it justice. Now that i have all my way points in OnX it will be easy to get into again...took 8hrs going in and only 4 hrs out
@@mountainwanderer and All drone footage was filmed from the ridgeline before i entered the wilderness boundary and dropped down. For anyone who wants to know.
Great video! and what did I say when you called? Intuition comes out of the silence, ego monkey mind comes out of the noise. If it's truly your intuition speaking to you, you better pay attention. You did the right thing.
WOW thank you Jesse 👊 what a beautiful heart shaped lake, and thanks for the Kick-Ass video adventure 😁 hell of a hike, always be proud 😎 I'm proud of you 👊
Fabulous! Nice work completing that list. On both attempts, I was expecting Bindlebag Joe to come out of the trees. Must’ve just been a bear. And sorry for your loss.
@@Olympic_TryAthlete Yes it was not a bindle bag..was definetly a bear saw the silloute when it turned sidways and left the first time...probably a very curious juvenile cub. Thanks.for the kind words.
@@TedNemeth Hell yeah brother...would love to meet up..and depending on the time of year I will take u to an amazing place we coukd take the jeep to and u could get some banger shots of the Cabinet mountains...will Email u in a bit with my contact information.
Nice quote from blitz there. Good company with Mr. Idaho. That was tough. Watching. 😂😂😂 Love the shot at 4:00. You definitely need to go back to those waterfalls in the spring.
@@waterfallmadman Yes will go back if u guys remind me ...since i made a mental note foe my viewers to remind me. Yes i love that shot to and thank you kund sir. Means a lot. Also Blitz is well read in the teachings if Nietzsche. lol
Watched this first thing in the morning. Now I’m going to be tired for the rest of the day. And my hand hurts from that devil’s club 😂. Reminded me of a traumatic experience in the Olympics one may as I was bushwhacking over snow. Stood on a snow covered log and my foot found a nice, hidden snow cavern beside it. Fell backwards with a 60lb pack on. Reached out and grabbed the first branch-like thing my panicking eyes saw - you guessed by now - and it was devil’s club. Barehanded. Was a nice edition to the face plant I did earlier in the day when my trekking pole telescoped. Those waterfalls are fabulous. I bet they’d look pretty fabulous frozen as well - if you could get to the trailhead. At any rate, thanks for sharing another adventure.
That was quite the bushwhack! It looked as difficult as trying to bushwhack in the southern Appalachians. A mile an hour is about the norm is those conditions. Here's a tip: take Himalayan Pink Salt. About a 1/4 teaspoon after a hard day like that works wonders and the relief is immediate. Absolutely great video!
I tend to get leg cramps as well. I might actually try a pinch in my water bottle. I’ve seen mixed stuff on Tums as well - supposedly the calcium helps. I also wonder if the antacid may help reduce the effect of lactic acid buildup. At any rate, some people say it works for athletes.
@@BryanDeLay Will pick some of that salt up today and throw it in the pack along with some liquid I.V. Yeah bushwhacking definetly makes you earn your calories for sure...and thats even if u feel like eating. What u dont see on the video vlog after we got there was i broke down and was crying out of pure exhauasten. Whats crazy is the SEALs say once u have reached that point you still have 40% left in the tank.
@@hyoh-wu Himalayan Pink salt is a full spectrum salt with 85 minerals. Normal table salt if first boiled to take all the minerals out. Second it's bleached to make it white and finally they add anti-caking compounds to keep salt from clumping. Also I eat dried bananas as a snack when I get to camp to increase the potassium. So basically I'm replacing the electrolytes in a natural way. Nothing to be ashamed about. For about 17 years I cycled with a very competitive group in Knoxville. We did this 105 mile organized bike ride in the North Carolina mountains. Lots of climbing with the last four miles being very steep. One of the guys that was riding with us played football at the Texas A&M and was a triathlete who had done several Iron Man races. He was a little out of shape for the ride. When he finally finished he just laid on the pavement and cried. Congratulations on finishing this bushwhack. From the video it looked very challenging.
@@Olympic_TryAthlete Check out my reply to Jess. Low electrolytes and dehydration can cause leg cramps. I've never heard that low calcium can cause leg cramps, but it may.
@@pilowespo Oh man ...it tested me for sure. What u dont see is after i shut off the camera when we 1st got there i started crying...seriously have never been pushed so phsically hard in my life...i wish now i would have recoreded the last 800 yards getting there...it was hell. But when you are in the fog of war the last thing ya want is a camera in your face.
@@cmv29 The dichotomy of hikes like this is. your tired ,exhausted beyond belief and dont even wanna record. But somehow when the camera turns on you still can laugh and find humor in things even though its the last thing u wanna do.
@hyoh-wu I'm related to the Duttons, Youso and Pecks.. My grandparents "Dutton's" had a place out on Bull Lake for years.. Love that area.. You're very blessed to have that all in your backyard.. My girlfriend and I hike Leigh last year when we came for a visit.. Absolutely amazing
I am sure blitz thinks you’re hilarious. So was that a grizzly, a Sasquatch, or just your wild imagination,? You were not too happy with the map though. I could tell. 😂
yeah i was peeved! I dint mind bushwhacking when im expecting it..but when ita not expected and the road basically just ends...uggh...yeah i nirmally dont leave alot of cuss words in but it helps convey my frustration. Yes there was something big in the woods...i did add audio sounds because the original audio u could barely hear it. My guess it may have been that moose that evntaully showed up at the lake and was snorting at me ....that made me sacred...backed up to the water with my 12 gauage (thinking it was a grizz) and was prepping for the worst case scenario...and that big SOB jumps in the water and takes a swim...not once but twice. Sorry for the delay in response phone got destroyed over the weekend.
Was up there a couple times years ago, I recall one spot was easy to miss where the "trail" crossed the crick. Did they have the old road cut out? The times I was up there had to climb uncountable trees in that old road. I did swing by after the fires and check out the carnage at the trail head, do you hike through the burn at all? Need to do this one again, thanks for the video. BTW, an old gentleman from Troy told me the lake used to be a lot smaller...thus it's Wee name.
Yeah it really ticked me.off ...the road just kinda ends..and ya try to follow the ONX trail and it just disapears...Finally got smart and used the drone to search for a resemblence of a trail. Had i known it was gonna be a linger hike inwoukd have left earlier.
Gorgeous! And once again, all to yourself. Those “campsites” tell it all - not many, if any, visitors at all. That’s too bad about OnX. Thought about making the switch from Gaia, but now I don’t know. Gaia has always been spot on for me, but it does go through the battery on my iPhone if I’m tracking myself. Perhaps it’s the combo of using my phone for my video at the same time. Just got back to western Washington last night. How does 10 days go so quickly. Sorry couldn’t get together. I barely was able to get a 3 hour day-hike in. Hopefully things can settle a bit with my new schedule and I can get a couple more Montana trips (long weekends) in each summer. This last one was quite the family get together with all the kids and stuff.
You young people with your technology. All I had was maybe a guide book and route finding skills. But hey you have go pros and the ability to have videos. All I had was a 35 millimeter camera and my memories which are fading.
