A Remote Homestead, Off-Grid Living, Log Cabin Building, Survival Skills, Summer Camping, Winter Camping, Hunting, Fishing, Mountains, Rivers, and Glaciers, This is my Alaska!
I grew up at a remote Alaskan lodge. We had no indoor plumbing or electricity. We heated only with wood. My father trapped and my mother homeschooled us children. That was over half a century ago. I am a grandfather now, but I am still in love with Alaska, and I want to give you a glimpse into my family's simple lifestyle here in the Last Frontier. We still spend much of our time at our remote cabin. It is still off grid.

t Dick Proenneke. He was an American naturalist, conservationist, and writer who became famous for living alone in the Alaskan wilderness for nearly 30 years. Starting in 1968, at the age of 51, he built a log cabin by hand near Twin Lakes, Alaska, and documented his life through journals and films12. Proenneke’s cabin, which he constructed using simple hand tools, is now a popular attraction in Lake Clark National Park2. His story is an inspiring example of self-reliance, simplicity, and a deep connection with nature.
That was absolutely beautiful! I would happily sit down with this talented builder and just listen to his adventure. The Antler "shandelier" was a great touch too!!
I concur with all of the most positive comments on this man's extraordinary talent, creativity, and skills. Unbelievably amazing!!!!! I salute you! I wish you I knew you about a year ago, and were available to build such a cabin for me in Maine.......Well Done!!!!🤗
