Is your well a 110 volt pump A 220 volt pump has three wires a 110 volt. A 110 volt and a ground there’s no neutral wire If you want send me a picture of your system Pictures of the pressure switch with the cover off What if the breaker in your power panel Is it a single or double breaker A 20-30-40 breaker?
Thanks a lot, I was thinking about doing this after our power went out, my generator worked great except for the well. My bladder tank is under the house and this would be an easy fix. Luckily our power is back on and now I can get the plugs and fix it so we will have water the next emergency. But if I hit the Powerball, I will get a Generac. But really Thanks for a good common sense fix
Yes doing well We are a 30 miles south of the major flood We had ours 3 years ago Being one of the few prepared ones in the community a great test of my place now just helping others
I can’t appreciate it enough my man. Just gave my family water after 5 days of no well water. Helene can suck it! Love this knowledge and willing to share!!
Hey ol buddy, I just ran across your channel today. I’m near by in southwest va. I’d like to send you some videos and see if you can help me out with my water system. Me and my family live in an off grid cabin and water is my biggest issue that I would like to solve. I took some videos this evening that I’d like to share with you and hopefully you can give me some ideas. Thanks
I’m fixing to go back on my spring water and happened to stumble across you in researching for this very thing. I will be building me one of these for my spring box. By the way I’m in WNC myself I like it when I find channels from our area to watch.
Good seeing you boys getting it done. Cows will appreciate you this winter. Doing good here. Envious of the big fields. Jackson County area. Thanks for sharing.
This year it’s been hard here a lot of rain this year. Not a big amount just rain every day just enough that you don’t want to cut hay But it is what it is Here this area is a tempered rainforest we will get 60-70” of rain per year How’s things in MC
@@basecampwnc1745 Thank you sir. I am using the same system on a beautiful spring I discovered on my wife's family's property in Pennsylvania. I originally packed it in with clay from the site of the spring but it has started to seep and I'm losing pressure. I will try again with the quickrete 🤞
@GiliusThunderhead I use two products to seal spring dams one is Bentonite clay this is used to seal the top of wells to keep surface water from entering a well Then hydraulic cement because it will setup underwater. This is what they use to seal cracks in concrete swimming pools and concrete water pipes It’s sold by Lowe’s and Ace Hardware as leak stopper A 10 pound plastic tub is about $22.00
@@basecampwnc1745 Thanks for the information. I may need to pickup some clay to seal the top of the dam. Right now it's just filled with rocks and then I put a plastic sheet over top of that, and then mud/clay mixture on top of that. Pure clay would probably keep ground water out better though.
At 3:41 time stamp he talks about his idea for the interior walls using OSB with wallboard compound mixed with paint to make stucco. Adding the paint to the wallboard compound will be like plastering and painting all in one step instead of two. Sounds to me like another great Idea from Mr @basecampwnc ! Thanks again!
At the 2:45 time stamp there's good visuals and explanations for attaching the Screen wire on the underside of the building to cover the gap between the OSB outside wall and the floor joist. This gap will help the building to be ventilated so condensation does not collect and create rot and mold. You need the screenwire on the underside to keep critters out and let air in. Also, shows and talks about installing the foam board insulation
The catch dam is covered with plastic sheeting and covered with dirt to keep surface water out If needed a trench above the spring diverting water around the spring site
Thanks again for all of your "How To" Vids for the "Arch Shed Build" I'm following them closely and am making good progress on my shed build! I am adding timestamp links to my comments on your vids so I can easily find the spots in your videos that I need to re-watch while I am out working on this project. 1/4" Thermo Ply installation is explained at the 2:12 time stamp in this vid. at the 3:30 timestamp he shows the screen wire on the outside of the floor frame joist. It's hard to see how he attached it on the underside so critters can't get in. I guess you just bend the screen under somehow and get under there with the drill to put a few screws into it and the floor joist to seal it as best as you can.
I don’t know if thermo ply is still available I have used 1/2” styrofoam now it’s a little harder to work with because it’s brittle to bend into the truss I have tried to look it up and can’t find any
@@basecampwnc1745 thanks for checking on the thermo ply! Yes it seems be gone from Home Depot website. Looks like there are some other similar products out there though. Thanks again!!
Hi, great video. I just built one and the 20 micron filters i have aren’t passing any water. it’s barely a trickle. all the water is exiting the overflow. is that normal? really hoped it wouldn’t restrict flow that much. Thanks!
You must have a lot of sediment in the water May need to go to a 5 or 10 micron filter Then if you can place a spin down filter before the water enters the cistern
@@basecampwnc1745 there’s not much sediment and the filters aren’t clogged or anything (brand new from Lowe’s ). i wonder if these filters usually rely on inline pressure after a pump or something. i’ll look into a larger screen or the inline spin down. thanks again!
@@basecampwnc1745 it’s project source #5225358. (YT won’t let me post the link). I bet that’s my problem. The package/website doesn’t say what material but it has a springy/plastic feel. Thanks for making time on your sunday morning!
Millennial here. I have a question. My well says max 19.2 amps but my generator say 30amps. I'm a little ignorant here, but does that mean the generator produces "too many" amps for the well or that it's just capable of 30, but a receptacle and capable of 20amps (and 240 volts) would be okay because it's within range?
Could you explain how to do this in a freezing climate . It gets to 0 degrees here a lot but I have plenty of springs on my property and want to do this
Best if you send some pictures of your spring My email is Carolinahomesteadplanner@gmail.com Tell where you are located and then we will get together on the phone Looking forward to hearing from you
My static water level is 248'+4", have to make mine 250' will be ok Submersible pump is 390' Your pump looks easy to make I think it will work on my well Having a stand by well is a good idea while repairing well and you still have water, I think being prepared is a good idea
I agree with its best to be prepared The 250’ foot will probably work the pipe is in 20’ lengths so 260’ At that depth you are lifting a water column 250’ and the weight of the rods will need a handle of 4’ best 6’ to gain leverage First price out all the components then look at solar pumps You can buy kits for a $1,000 You can have 2 pumps in a 6” diameter well and still useable with the grid being down The world has changed if you price out something like a simple pump, you can put a solar pump down the whale a lot cheaper nowadays with a whole lot less effort to get forward to 6 ounces per stroke, coming out the top of the well Price them out and let me know your thoughts And I do realize there’s a lot of satisfaction out of building it yourself
Thank you so much for this! This is perfect for what I need for our pump house. I'm just a newbie at construction. I've built a few tiny things, but can you please tell me how you measured for where to drill the holes that the bolts go into? Thank you so much!
My well pump is a shallow well pump above ground. It's a flotec. Right now, its hardwired into somewhere with Romex. We had to get a new meter pedestal and no electric to house. We have to plug everything in the pedestal. My question is, can I just put a regular 125 volt plug on the end of my Romex wire and plug it into an extension cord for temporary? Like with a high quality plug? I just was wondering if that was considered safe to wire Romex to a plug?
Thank you so much dor your videos and easy instructions! Im a single woman but have basic knowledge and understanding of plumbing and electrical. Your videos really help clear up any questions i have. Ill admit ive been hesitating because for some reason cutting the pipe for strips to set it horizontally just makes me nervous but i can do it! Otherwise ive been pumping with a small submersible 110 pump when i need to. I see some great ideas in the comments too!
Sir, this video has helped me a ton. Thank you very much. I have the same plug receptacles and need to splice in to get the well going. Out of power day 5 now.
And that is the reason I have gone with a deep well pump in the tank. If you can place the pressure tank in the house or basement that’s taken care of Yes you can build a building and use heat tapes and that will work as long as you have power When the grid is down then you need a propane or kerosene heater to protect for freezing It’s easier to use a deep well pump in the tank
