I think the Fender sounds SLIGHTLY better with the tube power section but not nearly enough to justify the weigth. I just got a Monique and am glad I did
eq knobs at noon on a fender or on the orange means a bass and treble boost and mid range cut, because of the way Fender passive tone stack functions? So it’s not truly comparing flat EQ on all 3? The Ampeg would be the closest to flat at knobs at noon. a little bass and treble boost and mid cut on the Ampeg might bring it more towards the tones of the Orange and the Fender with knobs at noon?
Will listen with headphones later but what do you think, and room sound vs close mic’ed? It’s maybe silly but the black corners on the VB cabs irks me, visually… I guess chrome corners would be easy enough to swap…
@@peepsieD I will try the VB live tomorrow night and get a better opinion since I know this stage well. At first the VB is a bit more precise and articulate. VERY LIGHTweight. On the other side de Fender Neo is a bit more open in the mids and gritty-er. For now I give the upper hand to the Fender. We’ll se after a few shows :)
In headphones I think the Ampeg has more clarity but still very full sounding, richer sounding than the Fender. I have a Fender Pro Neo 115 too, I believe the Fender Pro Neo cabs all have the same crossover that I think is a 2-way which attenuates some of the highs out of the woofer to make the cabs more uniform sounding with different speaker configuration (410, 610, 115..,) and also to shape a signature Fender tone (more scooped than a signature Ampeg tone). On gigs with my Fender Pro Neo cabs I always feel there’s something missing in the mids that I find in spades with my SVT112 AV cabs… very curious how your gigs with the VB cab go!
@@peepsieD The VB115 was very cool on a live situation! Full! All you can expect from a 115. I’m very pleased! I wonder if the cab construction will last trough years since it’s tiny. Very, VERY lightweight! Kinda expensive and both speakon connectors are loose and offer a bad connection. Made in Malaysia FTW!
Well. Sounds like they put a great speaker in the right size box… with poor construction, and possibly not built for longevity? Maybe with some maintenance and care it will work out… cheers!
@@geraldcalifornia5923 unfortunately I don’t own any Bassman 100. I don’t have the SB no more either :(. Here is a vid I made with the SB and old SVT. It’s the closest I can get for your request. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9f8Uv91R6No.htmlsi=T9wXaNUHUGPgyJN3
@@johnp.3225 First, this is a preamp recording. They share the same preamp schematic. The B18 have 2X6SL7 and the small black preamp 2x12AX7. No power amp involved in the clip.
hey Jo… I’m considering buying a Trinity Trip Top but can’t find any reviews/feedback on it verus a vintage 60’s B-15N ? What are your views on this amp compared to a vintage B-15 ? Chris Toronto, ON
Hi Chris! Nothing can beat a vintage B15. The cab is part of the deal. On the other side, the Trinity is really close and more powerfull. Plus, it’s new! If you are not ready to spend 4k on a vintage one….build one and find a cab to match it.
The Orange AD200B MKIII is my favorite by a wide margin. The Fender Super Bassman is my next favorite. I’m quite impressed with what I heard here. Oddly, the Ampeg SVT comes in third place for me. And I LOVE SVTs. I’ve owned two of them many years ago. I’m now saving up to buy an AD200B MKIII.
There is a level difference between the different D.I.s, that does make it hard/unfair to compare. I do appreciate the comparison. But even a difference of 0.5 db completely changes your perception.
It's wierd - the Demeter was my least favourite in isolation but I think it sounded the best in the mix balance; the Ampeg ran a close second. I think the Noble is my overall favourite though.
Hi, love the channel! I’m a guitar player that’s currently looking to get a really good bass setup. Any recommendations? Is the trinity worth it for home / recording / gigging vs say a noble preamp and a good power amp?
Thanks! Humm, the Trinity is great but doesn’t have a DI (XLR out) and is not reliable for live situations/ output power. You could get an Ampeg Pf-50T with a great cab (Aguilar db112-115 or Bergantino). Noble is great but overpriced/trend) as power amp, lots of options available/$ you want to invest…otherwise I so sell B15 and Fender Bassman tube preamp. Haha! jonathanchouinard@videotron.ca
The Bassman had a bigger bottom end but I prefer the aggressive in your face tone of the Ampeg. Both sound great I think it would just be a personal preference
Orange sembra essere un buon compromesso qualità prezzo ! Che valvola di pre monta ? o quale cosiglieresti per migliorarlo ulteriormente ??? Grazie per i tuoi video e per il canale !!!
Another killer video, really like these. Your vids helped convince me to get a PF50-T, actually. Would you consider doing a comparison with the Arkham Oracle or Zephyr?
If I can come across an Arkham preamp!? Hell yeah! Micha at Arkham don’t produce Zephyr anymore. Quite rare. Would love to try his new version of the Oracle.
I’ve watched all your videos and they are all great, especially liking this one, I nearly bought a Jule Monique a while back but didn’t really think I needed it as I use an Ampeg V4B , so not sure, I’ve subscribed to your channel too, thank you for sharing your equipment
