I don't do unbox videos, everyone knows what a box looks like. I don't cut test on camera, unless it's to show some geometry problem with the knife. All knives can be made sharp enough to cut paper and cardboard. I don't weigh or measure during the video, I'll do that before hand so we can keep the reviews moving
Shortcut reviews focuses on high value, Every Day Carry (EDC) item, especially knives that are suitable for a suburban office environment.
The Titanium Overlay is nice for a budget knife very sturdy handy and compact knife and flip is really crisp and maybe even a little too agressive because it requred no added little flick of the wrist i mean it was like blame here ya go which could wear on the internals after a while but at 32 bucks new i was happy...this is my 2nd Kershaw i wanted to start low and work my way up i qm gonna buy one every year and then see where im at in 5 yeatlrs and which is my go to ...but this onle is about where I like to be as far as workable and reliable and quick and I like the all steel and its got a sturdy feel to it not a cheap feel to it at all
Just got one of these the other day, is being discounted by most retailers as they've now hit the discontinued list for 2024. They still advertise it as BD1 but mine came in BD1N steel , which for me is a good additional upgrade and after putting my own edge on it is staying super sharp. I'm having the same experience with the sticky/clicky lock bar and the pointy corner on it - I find this lock bar gap also has pinched my index finger doing a two-handed close so I have to be carfeful or use another method. The machined edges of the spidey hole (or "comet" hole as spyderco calls it) on mine were very sharp so I ended up softening all the sharp and pointy edges/corners with some 320 grit paper and it's much nicer. I've also been fidgeting with it for a few days now and it's starting to get pretty fast and a little smoother. Definitely happy with this knife overall seems like a bargain compared to a made in USA comparable.
I have been wanting to replace those washers! I need to find that specialty bit in the correct size. My couple EABs have a little bit of pivot play and the nylon washers never help that. What size and what bit would I be looking for? I'm sure that it's a spanner but is it a number eight or which? Thanks for the video ! Very cool mods
The base bugout model looks so cheap and so disgustingly flimsy that it's just beyond acceptable. So for me it's not fair to compare in the way you did. I actually have s90v CF bugout but it almost $300. May be if you take the 20cv delica with a LYNCHNW MOD 2 TITANIUM SCALE KIT it will be more fair. But I think that the result of such a comparison will depend only on the preferences of the person comparing.
Can I use the higher mAh capacity fenix batteries, with 850 mAh, for my Fenix E15 (2016 Edition) flashlight without damaging it? I love my Fenix E15 (2016 Edition). I wad very lucky to purchase the last one available in Brazil, several years ago! 😂
I tried the same screw and washer mod but my blade wasn't tight. the sound it made moving around and the way it felt just made it feel really cheap. The screw head has to fit into the hole and clamp down the blade.
Has anyone figured out what's causing the upper portion of the blade housing to bend? It almost looks like they designed it to fail in that spot. 🤔 there are 2 scores on both sides near the pivot that are not necessary. The scores can be seen at the 1:30 mark.
I have and old bear stainless version i bought months ago. Stored it in its original box and left it on a shelf and now opening it is so damn hard that I had to use pliers to pull the blade out. What to do?
By far my favorite knife ever made. I lost the one I had because I was walking into a concert and had to throw it away. Finally found a new one on eBay.
I had the pm 2 and the compression lock would sting my hand on opening, just like you said it would hit my finger on closing. I sold my pm 2 and got a Benchmade 940. The axis lock kills the compression lock in all aspects. I am a Spyderco fan, I own a few of them - but for me no compression lock, just not a fan of how it stings my hand on slow opening, and when closing.
I wasn't carrying a utility until I was given one of these 2 months ago. I've been carrying it along with my regular set of knives and tools and it has seen more use than anything else because it is convenient, unobtrusive, and I don't care if it gets sticky from cutting tape, etc., but I didn't know how to change the blade. That's what led me to your video. Thank you for showing me how to change the blade early on in the vid and for your valuable insight. Appreciate you.
Streamlight ProTaclights are better. They are programmable for high strobe low, high only or low high so it works for whatever you want. Also, it’s lumens…not “lumes” that is wildly annoying.
What was your life like before pocket clips? Seriously, I have never had any knife (even cheap ones) open in my pocket. I do wish that the clip was reversible because I prefer tip up, but I wouldn't call that a deal breaker. For all you folks that feel that this knife is not right for the job makes me giggle, "I wouldn't carry it because there's something about it that encourages me not to use it, but I'll take two to stash in drawers/tackle boxes". Why not have a better knife AND a better screwdriver in the drawer/tacklebox? Not carrying a tool never makes the tool better. To me, this is a perfect form factor. Just right as glorified box opener (no razor blades to throw away), with just enough tool functionality to start a troubleshoot. Adding bits by having something like a "bit vault" on your keychain really extends the usefulness for me. Full-size comfort normally isn't convenient.
Not even the Raider with 500 lumen has enough candela to really blind someone. Therefore I would suggest at least 15.000cd. So I wouldnt really call any of your lights "tactical".
Eab lite destroyes this. Don't modify. I have both but unmodified the eab seems like a microtec vs this. Less blade area. No safeties, rough action. It is less weight but that blade rattle. Eab lite with no mods. Dude made an excuse that two handed open was ok after he made his eab unusable modding it for one hand open.. bro...
@@jimmywarren6685 Ok, you have a defective light. These things happen, get it exchanged if you can. It’s not “the light does not step down”, it’s your defective light does not step down.
I ordered mine the other day and it should be here soon! I don't know why but I really like that Orange, and I was going to purchase it a while ago and just kept putting it off but then they went off of stock for a few months but just saw they were back in stock and I thought for $44 I couldn't pass it off anymore.
that detent wears in, also tuned the pivot on mine so the blade is centered, drop shutty now, it's a sweet knoife not perfect like you pointed out but still lovin it stay sharp my friends.
1. Lanyard 2. New bushings; no better than the Teflon ones that come with it 3. Bigger screw for the blade/acts as thumbstud 4. Grip tape 5. Jimping (looks like a pain in the ass)
The Delica is great, but watch your index finger. Not as safe as the newer models Native5 or Para3. Still loves the Delica 4 to bits. Its great if you are careful :)
I don't get "Tip Up" carry. I can't count how many times I've cut myself on a knife that has partially opened when in that position. Tip down is my preferred carry. I have this knife and I can agree with your points of what you don't like except for that one. Tip down is fine with me. The pocket clip should be changeable. I'm forced to carry in my left front pocket due to this but not that big a deal.
maybe bend over the lockbar a notch. that should improve the detent. or maybe the detent ball is not in the lock hole exactly. edit: i have two and their lockup is good. out of the box.
