How does voice scrambler work? It seems to be enabled by default but other radios without scrambler enabled seem to receive audio in the clear?

These radios are pretty loud / shrill when close together. Is that normal for radios? They don't always remember the channel they're set to when power cycled.

thanks for the reviews i have a new RETEVIS RT-19 from amazon ..do i need to program it first or i can used it from the box right away is this a FRS/GMRS radio or ham ? i just want to make sure before anything is this legal FRS here in california

art uro yes, the RT-19 is programmed for legal freqs out of the box

Cant save and program as you suggest. Comes up as a data file. No asci text.

keith mckenney that would really suck if they changed it, maybe a previous,version of the software. Clearly it worked when the video was made

Can i use this straight outta the box to communicate with my midland? Or will i need to program it?

You will need to program it. He states this in the video. However there is a work around for changing the frequency they use.

Do you have an idea of setting up the VOX on the RT19?

Amanda I’ve never done it but the manual says that it can only be set by using the software setup program in windows

Amanda did you ever found out a way to set up VOX on the RT19? I have the software but it doesn't seem to be communicating with the walkies with the supplied USB cable.

All the "scramble" columns have a "1" in them. Does that mean the device is configured to scramble on all channels by default? Seems like the software has moved. The resource center just redirects to "contact us": www.retevis.com/contactus#
