I use Ronan lettering enamel, thinned with a lil mineral spirits. The brush is a Mack 00 “king 13”. And I sketch the design with a “ Stabilo all pencil “. Thank you for watching 😎
I appreciate that you show how you correct those small variances ☺️ so many only show their “best” work and it can be intimidating to a newbie, thanks for that New subscriber, thank you for sharing your talent ❤
THAT RIGHT "THERE" MY FRIEND - WAS TOTALLY MOTHERFUCKING "BRILLIANT"..! THE BEST HOUR I'VE SPENT IN MANY YEARS, AND THAT INCLUDES FUCKING..! YOU ARE A MASTER, "YOUR' SENSE OF ACCOMPLISHMENT @ THE END OF A JOB, ON THE WAY HOME MUST MAKE YOU FEEL LIKE KING KONG... I'M SHARING THIS...
Awesome job man, love the clear precise instructions, matching each side to each other and the different pressures seems like the key and self confidence to just try it!
Do you have or could you show a video of what to do when you need to clean off a line? Ill eventually be doing a lot of long, straight lines on my car and i know ill need to do it at least once! 😂
I’ll try to. But in the meantime, let’s say you make a mistake…you take a rag with a lil mineral spirits on it and remove the bad spot. Then re do it. I still make mistakes. Have fun😁
🤭sorry. But , I can help anyone get better at pinstripes or lettering by telling them one word. “ Practice “. That would make a pretty boring video. So the best I can do is give tips on how to practice. I never had the internet when I was learning. I couldn’t watch anyone doing it, how to hold the brush or mix the paint. I just know that I wanted to be the best I could be at this. For a novice this might seem out of reach. But it is possible to achieve with practice. So… are you ready to be the best you could be? Just start doing it and you’ll get there! Thanks for watching 😎
I usually put 2 coats of clear on. Wait 24 hours in between coats. It can be waxed … but I would avoid pressure washing . I tell my clients not to pressure wash. Thank you😎
Rick this is amazing! I am also going to paint a truck soon and am wondering what paint you use for this and what you use to seal the paint so that it lasts?
Thank you. I use Ronan lettering enamel. Thin with mineral spirits. I don’t use anything to seal the paint . Just make sure the surface you’re working on is clean, and wax free. Use wax and grease remover to clean surfaces. You should get a nice dry squeak when you rub your fingers on it. ( I don’t letter or stripe anything that has been ceramic coated) the trucks I do are parked outside and after 5 years they still look good. Have fun! Thanks for watching 😎
@@rickbendi8709 Thank you for the advice, I appreciate it very much!! I will try that out. I just found your account as I was researching the best way to go about this project, but your art is so amazing and I will just have to continue supporting your channel!
I use a blue Stabillo All pencil for light color cars and a white Stabillo All pencil for dark color cars.( for sketching the design). Then I pinstripe the car. After the paint dries I use windex to remove the sketches. I hope this what you mean. Thanky for watching 😎
The glue ,or “sizing” is like a varnish. I use DUX quick dry sizing . The paint i use Ronan lettering enamel . Then I put a coat of the same Dux sizing over the top of the gold leaf for protection. Thank you for watching 😁👍
Super clean! With graffiti letters I used to copy “Mr cartoon’s” style until I got comfortable with the flow of things and then started doing my own thing once I understood how make proportionate or symmetrical letters. Worked out ok for me so I’m going to do the same with pinstriping. I know you all asked so there it is lol
Will leafing over paint with a clear coat affect the longevity of the leaf? Is it safe to rough up the surface before applying? Will using the dux glue work as a finish or should/can you use clear coat? Thanks for the video! I'm thinking about doing custom work to my motorcycle!
I’ve only done leaf over clear coat. When you do your bike , you can paint the tank base coat clear coat urethane. Then wet sand it with600 grit , do your leaf and art work. Then re clear the tank with urethane clear coat and it will last longer.
Hi rick I started to search the almost 400 comments to find out the color of blue on the car?. I appreciate the tutorial -I am planning a silver leaf on my number panel on blue also. Again what color blue please. Regards
I’m sorry, but I did not paint the blue on the car. But off the top of my head i would say it’s ether marina blue ( a GM color from the 60’s )or Iroc Camaro blue from the late 80’s. Look at those colors, I think ether one is a great color. And a good background. Silver leaf with a black shadow and red or light blue outline would be killer. I hope that helps. Thanks for watching 😎
Nice work. I'm just trying my hand at pinstriping. Wow me respect for you guys! Tried some alphanamel and both a kafka stroller and mack 000 10 brush. The alphansmel seems different from bottle to bottle. What paint do you recommend and refucer/flow enhancer and I'll try that. I can't get a decent solid line 😕 thanks. Jeff
Hi Jeff. Thanks for watching. I use Ronan lettering enamel . I’ve been using it for years. It’s good quality and more reasonably price than some. I only have 2 colors in my paint kit that are “One Shot “ brand. . It’s metallic gold and metallic silver. I use a little mineral spirits to thin the paint . I don’t really use any flow enhancers , so I can’t recommend any. Don’t forget to keep your brushes oiled when not in use. I’m excited for you.! I remember the passion I had when I started out! Keep on practicing and have fun. You guys have the internet now. When I was young you had to struggle on your own by trial and error 😬😎
