Shes an early girl with no liftpump mounted on the injector pump. Still great engines regardless. Is it a 40hp engine or a 60hp engine?
@garethifan1034
@garethifan1034 Год назад
Early E1a Majors were all 40hp. The last Super Major 1963-64 was 54hp..
@matui6983
@matui6983 Год назад
Mark 1 engines are all vacuum governor units and are either 40hp or 60hp. Look at the sidecover of the injector pump SPE4A70 ( 7mm elements) 40hp SPE4A75 (7.5mm) 60hp Rebuilt too many injector pumps and seen too many on engine dyno's over last 40years for that to be wrong. Mark 2 engines are mechanical governor units and are all 60hp unless derated which is pretty unlikely.

There's something 'Major-ly' wrong here for a Fordson 4D to be so hard to start..

@@markcasely1673 Hello we Just bought a ebro super 55. Where can you find spare parts for these pumps? I think it got air in the system. It ran high stationaire and didnt react to throttle ten died. When checking the fuel filter was dripping. So think it is air but to be Sure i already look for where to get parts. Thank you for the upload

Thanks Mark. The full fuel button on my '54 Fordson Major pump was broken off a long time ago (I've owned it for about 2 decades), and I didn't even know it was supposed to be there. I pulled the unit apart and welded a cut-off bolt to where the button should have been. Works great! I've had to use one squirt of starter fluid since I bought the tractor... No more!

It was the pump . The timing was out by 180 degrees because of the way the coupling works . I had noted the timing mark but whilst the pump was off i had moved the crank around . After a while realised and put it back where it was and it fired up . As in will it start part four . I taje it u have seen my resto vidio

@@markcasely1673 I had wondered that. We did that years ago with a Major engine in a loading shovel. There was clearly plenty of fuel with yours. It started instantly when corrected just as the old Majors should.

Take the plug out of the middle of the injector pump right below the injector lines and prime it up till it has fuel coming out and also you're too far ahead in time

Yes I've got it running now it wasn't the coupling it was in time with the flywheel but the crank was one whole turn out as the valve speed is half of the crank . Next video shows it starting but I can't see for smoke . Also not sure if timing is 21 or 26 degas tdc.

no it was dry but that isn't good they were originaly oiled by ford as they self lubricate with diesel with time as the elements steart to wear hence the run_off pipe. message me at markcasely@gmx.com I rebuild pumps .
