I'm Ben, and you're not watching Disney Channel. Here I talk about character design, worldbuilding, and transmedia content in popular culture, and experiment with different devices and tropes in storytelling. Movies, video games, TV, literature, and/or none of the above are welcome here.
It changes the entire character and in ways I think it could have better I think Welles brings and more elegant tone to the Vader character that would almost make you question how much control Sidious had over him however I think that elegance comes at the cost of the intimidation James Earl Jones brought to the role ... Jones had such a deep and calm voice that it made it very clear that this was the guy you didn't want to mess with it was pure masculinity
Honestly, it's kinda hard to feel fear from someone who likes to hear themselves talk. Orson Welles, gives me the idea of someone you've never met before and seems to have a lot on his mind. The only scary thing i can think of is that we don't know how dark his words are until he responds physically. James, is very commanding and gets everyone to remain silent with every breath he takes. He's seems more scary when he doesn't say anything as he makes an appearance . you just know that whatever is on his mind can't be good for anyone among his presence.
This concept would be an interesting use of AI, at least for a short video. You'd probably have to redub the voices with a decent Orson Welles impression, then use AI to get the actual voice. That way we could get a more accurate sense of Welles' delivery, with the actual dialogue written by Lawrence Kasden and Leigh Brackett
“I don’t know what you’re talking about. I am a member of the Imperial Senate on a diplomatic mission to Alderaan.” “This is a lot of *shit*, you know that?”
I would be very upset if Zampanó was ever given an actual likeness. That man needs to stay a ghost, including if there was ever a adaptation for the screen.
FUN FACT: Not only Mifune declined the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi, he also declined for the role of Tiger Tanaka in the James Bond movie because of the film Grand Prix, and also Mr. Miyagi in Karate Kid due to his low English skills
Haven’t started the video yet but I was discussing this with my friend awhile back. I think you adapt it with a few movies and a mini series that all drop on a platform the same day. You don’t brand them as related (the internet would spoil that quickly) and you don’t imply a watch order. You make the fake documentary as a film, you have what actually happened to the family as the mini series, the old man’s story is a film, the tattoo artist is another and maybe a final surreal film (it’s all gonna be surreal, I guess) that would make more sense when you watch all of them. I wouldn’t go full ARG but the audience should work for it.
Probably for the Best. Mifune would have been seen as too ethnic by most western audiences of that time. It could have cut the movie's appeal and popularity.
This is horrible. Everyone saying this is better or more menacing is trying way too hard. You're also lying. Maybe if the voice Welles used for Unicron was sampled it could sound cool but this is just goofy.
ive always thought that after The Navidson Record begins that we should leave Johnny behind and just stick to it with the idea that it is a "recreation" of a lost documentary.
I think you should make a LORA for Orsen Wells and have it speak the lines that Vader does in this scene using A.I. as a fair comparison....Orsen Wells voiced Unicron from Transformers the movie and his voice for that with the added bass is Incredible....
Honestly, I'm surprised no one has considered adapting JUST The Navidson Record as a standalone horror film, use Zampano's written word as a source of truth and leave Johnny's story out of it. It would be incredibly interesting to see the The Navidson Record filmed in a found-footage type of way, and would work as a standalone film. Then create a Sequel titled House of Leaves which follows Johnny, and in any promotional material DO NOT mention that it is a sequel to The Navidson Record (any cast interviews etc inform them to act confused about the existence of a prequel movie called The Navidson Record), but reference The Navidson Record as if it only exists within that movie's Universe, and use photos from the first movie as "evidence" that Johnny finds while reading Zampano's analysis. It would add that extra layer of meta-commentary as if The Navidson Record itself has been somehow wiped from our universe, like the House is trying to hide itself.
The closes of having a House of Leaves adaptation we have is “You should have left” the movie and a DOOM mod called My House.wad. At least with My House.wad there’s an Easter egg of being able to explore The House of Leaves maze.
If Mifune played the role, I imagine either Takuya Kimura or Hideaki Itō would play the role of a younger Kenobi. I would've mentioned Hiroyuki Sanada, but I think he would've been considered 10 years too old for the role of Kenobi for Phantom Menace.
It sounds cool, but you really can't copy the way that the text in that book mutates and warps. Maybe if the film randomly warped, popped and rewound you could get close?
A YOUNG Orson is the wrong voice...,should have used the older Orson, the one who voiced Unicron in Transformers, THEN, put that voice thru the Vader Voice synthesizer.
Orson Welles as Vader, threatening Leia: _"For a time I considered sparing your wretched little planet, Alderaan. But now, you shall witness... its dismemberment!"_
