Any RPG's player's worst nightmare... the threat of petrify! Also, Vlad just blowin shit up with Fireball is awesome. I think this is the farthest you've gotten on this floor on YT! If I remember right.
These honestly remind me that I really need to beat Pool of Radiance. I’m “stuck” on the big battle with like 40 orcs and hobgoblins, and I definitely caaaan beat them all without losing a party member, but that’s a lot easier said than done. If I’d known more when I started, I’d have two wizards in my party instead of just one, for sleep spells and maybe an extra fireball.
Book of exalted deeds: "Mages who read it lose one point of Intelligence unless they save versus spell. If they fail to save, they lose 2,000-20,000 experience points. "
The Book of Exalted Deeds is only of use to "virtuous and goodly beings", the only ones able to get any benefit from the book. I've heard it is possible to attune yourself to the book if you're something like a paladin under oath, and you can make several oaths to the book, and in exchange you will get divine/holy powers. So being some random mage, Vlad probably wouldn't get anything out of it. Also, if an evil creature attempts to read the book they are struck down with intense radiant energy. Beings of moral ambiguity can read the books pages unharmed, but will gain nothing from doing so. Got this info from the wiki page.
Book of Exalted Deeds- Cleric of good alignment ONLY. - Will gain 1 point of wisdom and experience to put him halfway to next level. also the dust removes curses
I think the dust may remove curses? I found like, the only online strategy guide for dungeon hack and that was the only dust listed. Oh and the chime it looks like can either open doors or be cursed and lower your hunger bar to “almost 0” whatever that is.
It would be nice if spells displayed the damage they inflicted. If I were to guess, I would assume that the difference between a throwing dagger, and an ordinary dagger may be in how the weapon is balanced. But I have no idea if that would really make much of a difference.
In the context of this Video Game, it probably gives one LVL Up to the Good Aligned. I base this on the fact I have found other books in this game that require a certain Alignment and give you one LVL Up if you have the correct Alignment. The Opposing Alignment gives the Reverse though and Neutral gives nothing. I assume there is a book for Neutral Alignment as well, for One LVL UP and I also have found books in this game that improve a stat by one once, those are not based on alignment though, Unlike the LVL Up ones. I am mostly sure the Alignment based books give a Full LVL UP no matter what, if your alignment is correct. At Least I believe it works this way, I have done some major testing in this game so I think it''s 99.9 Percent chance of being correct in this video game.
Some hints It's a good idea to give yourself 18 str too, even as a mage. Because you can hopefully find a ring of shocking grasp, or just cast it, and it adds a bunch of damage to your unarmed attacks. Not only that, but you can open your spellbook, unequip it, then you can use both hands and have 2 attacks. I actually think the best class for this game is fighter/cleric/mage. It just makes you so OP. You can fight, you can heal, you can fireball... the only real problem is taking 5 minutes to cast all your protection spells after each rest xD
So I did something I find myself often doing. I saw you playing this game and thought "Hey, that looks fun!" So I downloaded the entire AD&D game package on steam. And holy shit... have you tried Menzoberranzan? It might be the worst game I've ever played! I barely got through the character creator, and when the gameplay started I thought I was going to puke. It's like a horrible amalgamation between this and the doom engine.
Yes, you do need bombchus in OoT... In exactly one location. At least, one required location. The others which may be more convenient with bombchus are all doable with bombs i think. That would be in ganons castle for one of the trials.
The Book of Exalted Deeds artifact Not to be confused with the WotC book, Gary Gygax described a powerful magical artifact of the same name in the original Dungeon Master's Guide in 1979. The original item raised the Wisdom ability score of good clerics who spent a week reading it, and also granted them a new level of experience. The artifact has subsequently appeared in every new edition of D&D, although with varying powers source: Wikipedia
