This is incredible, I'm using Obsidian but I didn't know that this app was so powerful for productivity, I'm from Brazil and my English isn't very good so I'll watch your video again later to understand better. Do you have a playlist about obsidian for me to binge?
In Intro section, you show a Habit Tracking Dashboard. But it's not covered later the the videos. Where can I get more info on how to create such dashboard, please?
Thanks for the Media Notes plugin, I tried using it but the you tube video isnt embedded I only get a link which opens in the browser, is there an additional step or a setting that needs to be adjusted, any help and feedback appreciated.
It should create a new note when you use the Javascript bookmarklet add the following code at the top of your note: --- media_link: (URL) --- Do you have the Properties Core Plugin enabled? Since it is metadata, that might prevent it from opening the video if you have it turned off.
Hi Mike, I want to use the new remote calender integration in day planner and I put my calender link in it (all as described in the set up section from day planner) but my icloud calender entries just will not show up. Do you have a solution to that? Couldnt find anything online. God bless!
Thank you for the shoutout to Note Toolbar! I'd love to hear if you have ideas for features you would like to see added that would make it even more useful for your use case(s).
I was looking for an in-depth, up-to-date course (introduction), but, sorry, it's just a "sales video" with the familiar information that's already been posted on RU-vid many times. I couldn't download the "free" Vault example either, instead there's an introductory course for $17 (instead of 99) with information I've already consumed for free on youtube. Unfortunately ...🤔
You should have received a confirmation email after you signed your for the starter vault that takes you to that (maybe check your spam folder). I also shared the entire course listing on the sales page for Obsidian 101 page so there were no surprises. However, if you’re still unhappy, just email me with the address you used to purchase and I'll issue a refund.
i love beautitab, adds so much personality! and writing goals works so well for novels also is it a flex I found some of these plugins before I found this channel?
Great Idea with Tasks in Canvas. Mononote ist bugged (Outlink Mentions). Share Note is very useful. I didn't know about Soundscapes: Thank you. I tried it and now I am using it all the time. Great Plugin for me. I didn't know Pinboard. I am using Omnivore and I am super happy with it. Great Video. Thank you Mike!
I wish there was a shortcut to fold individual headings; I know there's "Fold more" and "Fold less" (I think even those come from a plugin, but I'm not sure). Those commands act on the whole document, but I was hoping for a shortcut/command for individual headings in the document
This has been SO helpful Mike, thanks. For me, there's a couple of stand-out plugins I never knew existed, but which both will help immeasurably. I use Obsidian to journal in, but it's more free-form than the bullet approach you take. But one of the first things I do is open up RU-vid or Tidal and grab some focus music to journal to, so the SoundScape plugin is incredibly helpful. But also, being a relatively new person to Obsidian, I was not even aware of the fact there are different callouts...so now I can visually make a distinction between callouts which are prayers, and callouts which are bible passages, particularly when it comes to creating sermons. So, thanks very much for those plugins. The only frustration for me, is that I don't use a mouse, but I use a Wacom Tablet, and Obsidian currently does not support the pen drivers, so I can't really use Canvas, or else that would be super helpful.
Wow! thanks for sharing all this. If you ever created a more in depth video where you demonstrate some of the more rare gems which dont already have tons of online tutorials on youtube I would be all up for that.
Glad you liked it! I did do this video on some less popular plugins: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GcsTvY5Luz0.html But if there’s something specific you’d like to see, let me know 😊
@@MikeSchmitz yes I know. And it’s great! so no need to cover those. But the rest which has not been covered elsewhere or where you have a unique workflow would be really cool to hear about.
Fun fact, obsidian already has a way to change callout types without having to manually change the syntax. Just right click on a callout and choose the Change callout type option. From the list you can freely switch between the different callouts
I feel like the tab navigator is a bit redundant. You can achieve the same effect by clicking the down arrow on the right end of the tab bar. There is a list of all open tabs and you can click on the one you want to jump to.
I use almost exactly the same custom hotkeys Personally for the left and right side bar i use the ctr + [ and ctr+] respectively. Because they make visual sense to me as sidebars.
Thanks for the content - very helpful! Is there a video on sketch noting in Obsidian? Would love to do that but have no idea on how to sketch in Obsidian. Or do you sketch somewhere else and then just add an image? Very curious.
I sketch on GoodNotes on my iPad then bring the images into Obsidian. I don’t have a video on my sketchnoting process, but maybe I should make one 🤔 If you want to sketch right in Obsidian, Excalidraw is probably the best option.
Great video. This resonates more with me than PARA, wherein only the “projects” portion really was useful. Keeping all my interests under Areas still left me a mess in terms of moving from info towards actions and output. I love the concept of a greenhouse incubating the information consumed into ideas. Also, im surprised you dont use Obsidian’s canvas or excalidraw for mindmapping. Ive switched over from Mindnode and its been great. After getting over the initial hurdle of UI, being able to link the mindmap to actual notes has been invaluable
Thanks for the kind words 😊 I use MindNode when taking book notes on my phone, so doing it directly in Obsidian is just too much capture friction I’m afraid. But there are certainly some great tools for mind mapping directly in Obsidian.
Already been mentioned, but many are added by plugins with a few shortcuts. You can control what shows up though in Settings → Appearance → Ribbon Menu
