No subject in the history of business has been made so needlessly complex as employee engagement. The topic has been researched to death except for one question. Despite the exponential growth of survey science, HR Tech, EE/EX experts, seminars, books, webinars, and billions invested, it is impossible to find examples of anyone having transformed EE/EX to the extent business metrics were improved. Here's the simple truth, the EE/EX services providers and HR executives cannot discuss the following with CEOs. When pitching their EE initiative, could you answer these questions? "Where have you done this before, how long did it take, what were the results, and how were they measured. Were the results sustainable, and what impact did your initiative have on the income statement & margins? Can you reisk your fees/bonus on the financial results?". If you don't have the answer to these questions, you don't have a solution, you have only, " research says" unsupported by examples. The needle hasn't changed despite all the research, science, HR clechês, and money invested. In the attached example, HR was not involved, and the fees were based on the income statement. Their stock was $19 before the pandemic; it was recently $90.
