A curious observation I have made with many of the razor shaver reviews are done by geezers who haven’t had a shave for a week which does in my opinion impact credibility - just saying, I have never heard of this brand razor before and I like a good DE as this reminds me a bit of my One Blade single system which goes a good shave and is difficult to cut yourself with.

In these Inflationary Times. HERE IS AN EASY WAY TO DO IT MY FRIENDs Use any hard Bar Soap, Tallow or Glycerin based Soaps out there? To fit in any Mugs or Cups? Like" (Mitchells' Wool Fat or Arko Sticks. Just to name a few of them?) You can mix and match your old Soaps? Cut up the soap on a paper plate, pour your soap chunks with the shavings from the Paper Plate into a Mug, cover the soap with a small amount of water, and microwave your soap. For about a minute or so? Place a paper plate under your mug in case it bubbles out of your cup? If it foams up, STOP. The water keeps it from burning itself up. (DON'T OVER WATER YOUR SOAP??) Easy, does it? Let cool don't want to Crack the Mugs or Cups you're using? (You just want it to Congeal in your Mug or Cup') it is very hot and watery'''''. let it cool in PLACE'. after it cools, put it in a Sunny Window, until the Soap hardens? When using your soaps, use Dry Brush Less Water. It thickens the soap, making it easier to use on your face. Save your Money, spend it on your wife, don't listen to the shave Mafia. It saves me time and Money. Wheelchair Larry Happy New Year. Your Mileage may vary?

Been rocking double edged razors for a whole two months now, so the Rex will make an appearance once I have improved my technique. Thanks for the tip on blade choice!

Appreciate the question! I'm doing well, just haven't gotten back into posting content. Henson, unlike most of the products I discuss which are small-scale, had a very visible social media campaign when they launched so it helped generate views as I was one of the first the posted on the product.

After 7 years of the Feather AS-D2, I found the Henson is a better design, the feather blade exposure wasn't consistent, sometimes I had to unscrew and re-center the blade in order to get a symmetrical blade exposure on both sides, the Henson fixed that issue, I don't have to think about it anymore. Also it is very forgiving, I couldn't get away with sloppy technique, when I was in a hurry with the feather, with this I can be a little sloppy and don't pay much attention when I'm in a hurry and generally can get away with it. I have the thickest beard, shave everyday and the mild works just fine, just make sure to get the correct blade for your beard/face. Only thing I don't like is the weight, Perhaps the titanium version is a little heavier but coming from a heavy stainless steel razor this takes some shaves to get used to. Hope this helps someone.

Is it possible to get a close shave with this razor. I got mine a couple of days ago and have found the cut is not as clean and smooth as advertised at least to me. Any suggestions?
@TheShavingTulsan
@TheShavingTulsan Год назад
Not much I'm afraid 😔 I would try using a sharp blade, like Feather blades. Otherwise you will need a more efficient razor. If you are just getting into the hobby, you can run to your local Walgreens and pick up a King Gillette safety razor. Shaves MUCH better, and Gillette blades are also pretty good.

@@TheShavingTulsan Thanks for the honest reply. I wasn't looking to start a hobby. I was hoping to get a better shave and save money. I found it to struggle both with 6 and 1 day stuble. And it takes way longer than cartridge razors. They got me with their advertising. Again, thank you kindly for your reply.

I don’t have many razors, - the Viking Chieftain, Merkur Futur, and the Feather AS-2DS I bought the Ambassador XL as soon as it became available on the UK market. The XL is so good it’s made my other razors redundant. The XL is my go to razor and every shave is just pleasurable. The price can be a little off putting but I would recommend this razor to everyone. Nowadays with the likes of PayPal, Klarna etc you can even spread the cost. You won’t be disappointed. The first blade I used was the Astra SP. I’m a practical guy and it was the box I had open at the time. It was a great shave. Now I mainly use a Feather blade dialled up to 5 - 5.5 and it’s awesome every time. For some unknown reason I decided to put in a Voskchod blade last night and it blew me away! It literally felt like there was no blade in it at all. 3 passes, alittle touch up here and I was done. I used some alum block to check I hadn’t overdone it but there was no stinging,perfect.

I've been using several razors for a while, but once I got my Henson razor I've only used it. I LOVEEEEE the mild design, and the way it avoids nicks and cuts. I also like its light weight. I find it easier to manipulate than my heavier razors, so much so I just gave my son my Rockwell 6s razor as I no longer used it. I didn't like having to fuss around choosing which part to use (e.g., 1, 2, 3, 4, etc.), and I didn't LIKE how heavy that razor is. To each her/his own, but at 84 years old, yet fairly new to using these kinds of razors, I'm VERY happy with my Henson black razor....

The Meta-4 is SS.. you still prefer the Prismatic to that PAA offering? If so, why?
@TheShavingTulsan
@TheShavingTulsan Год назад
They both shave very differently. Though they share similarities in their design, they are very different in size and comfort. The Meta-4 imo feels/looks unwieldy on most handles because the head is so wide. The prismatic is smaller, more traditional in its head size, and I felt much more efficient.

@@TheShavingTulsan so I have estimated 30 or so razors… including Konsul, and the Sailor and it is astonishing to me just how excellent the Rockwell 6s shaves… comfort, efficiency, and with minimum blade feel. I would have to also say that about the Razorock Superslant🤷🏼‍♂️. Love them all.. but just sayin… So what is your current FAV ? Just curious if it’s changed?
@TheShavingTulsan
@TheShavingTulsan Год назад
@@The_One_BABA I have more razors then I could bother to count at this point lol. For me it usually depends on the mood, but my two favorites are the Razorock Lupo SS and the Rockwell 6S. Very smooth shavers, very efficient. For when I’m feeling nostalgic, either the Gillette Fatboy or Gillette Tech. When I want to shave off a beard or mustache, Prismatic. Rockwell 6S is usually my go-to recommendation for anyone. Newcomers it’s the 6C just because it’s cheaper (and still an amazing shaver).

I have the medium model and like it. I find it less prone to cause nicks compared to many other razors. Also, I find it easier to work around the under the nose area. Of interest as a Canadian my specimen came in a smaller box and a paltry 5 blade pack of blades made in India which I would rate as the worst blade I ever used. This razor is very blade sensitive. As for the author of this video I suggest trying the medium razor.

I didn't like my Henson. I asked for one for Christmas. I wanted to try a safety razor and Henson seemed interesting. Besides, it's made in my town and I like to support local businesses. But, I had to lather 4 times to get an ok shave. THEN I watched this video. I tried the trick of a half twist back. It completely changed this razor. Thank-you for this video. Now I can confidently recommend this razor.

Hi Tim, what a fantastic review! I love the honesty and lack of bias that you have shown in your assessment of the Henson razor. What would attract me to the prospect of investing in this shaving tool is the thought of a perfect shave, or certainly one superior to the Gillette Fusion five blade I am using. Based on your review, I just don't see it. Plus, the Henson appears to require too much in the way of adjustments. I am going to pass.
