Tree Removal with the ECO Land Rover Discovery | RARE 1 of 28

Today we spend some time with one of my favorite Land Rovers. Yes, the Eco Challenge Discovery. This is just 1 of 28 that were built off XD model Discoveries to support the Discovery Channel TV show.
I had a tree fall on the house, over my ravine and in a precarious position. I'm not a skilled tree removal guy so we use the Eco Discovery to assist in the matter.
We also had to figure out why we couldn't shift the transfer case into low range, and we create a few more problems along the way,

Look at all the work on the ECO, as just being a preparation run for your next adventure out in the wilderness with the old girl 🤣. With regards the chain lubricant, every day is a school day and you have to start somewhere. It turned out to be a great job as nothing managed to get broken which is always a bonus, plus the ECO is now in a far better condition, bonus. Keep up the great work.🍻😎

I’m definitely in school every day haha. It’s funny what little things you don’t know if you aren’t exposed to them. Nice few hundred foot shake out on the eco haha.

Like everything else in my life, I bought a project house haha. I just can’t start with something nice for some reason haha. On the roof front, the repair hasn’t leaked in the last couple months so that is good. The house will probably come down to the studs at some point. But I’ve been weighing back and forth on just plowing it and started over with a new design that doesn’t require 50 custom sized replacement windows.

HAHAHA that was perfect way to make my day. But hey nothing bad happened really and good thing the house went now and not on your trip. Oh check the coolant too. Oh and bar chain oil hope you mix the gas too for the 2 stroke too.

That’s what I’m here for haha. No, it was good to figure out the few small things before taking the ol’ girl out. Hey now, I was smart enough to know that much haha.

I have the same shifting issue on my D2. The linkage is great and the center diff lock goes in fine but I can’t get it into low. I’m going to check my switch before taking the transfer case out. Thanks for the insight. Really enjoy the content.

Check that and check the solenoid. The solenoid is a little more common if it has it.

@@LostCauseRanchI got it fixed. Ended up being an internal issue with the transfer case. I had a spare one off of my parts disco and just swapped them. Works great now.

always pays to have an electric fan on a landy when sitting still especially a v8 they get hot ,i have two on the go when i am towing a heavy load with my 300 tdi
