Great! Your three tips you gave us are very helpful. But i think, in addition to your advice, it would be better to avoid translations from our native language by pretending not to know it and learning to deal with only of what we know of the English language even at the cost of making a bad impression which must be taken into account at the beginning. Sono l'esempio calzante di ciò che hai descritto e sottolineato in modo chiaro. Penso che hai centrato il punto. Abituare i bimbi già dalle elementari alla lingua inglese è essenziale. Aggiungendo in un secondo step le regole.. e la grammatica, magari alle scuole medie potrebbe essere un'ottima soluzione. Completamente d'accordo con te.
Years ago I was dating an American female teacher who often told her daughter "shut up!", particularly when she was giving her an enema with a large natural rubber pear. Her daughter instead told her "enough!" repeated several times. Are these expressions exclusively American or are they also used by English people in the United Kingdom? A scuola ci insegnarono che in inglese la data va indicata con un numero ordinale (May 1st, April 2nd, January 3rd, July 4th and so on): mai ho ricevuto una lettera in inglese con la data scritta così!
Desde hace varios años contamos con empleadas domésticas y cuidadoras sudamericanas (Perú y Ecuador en particular). Todos pronuncian las marcas extranjeras como las leería un italiano si fueran nombres italianos. Por ejemplo, para decir Leroy Merlin dicen "leroi merlin" y así sucesivamente. Aún no he entendido si esto es normal para un "hispano hablante" o si es simplemente cuestión de no saber francés e inglés.
Da parecchi anni in qua abbiamo colf e badanti Sudamericane (Perù ed Ecuador in particolare). Tutte pronunciano i marchi stranieri così come li leggerebbe un italiano se fossero nomi italiani. Ad esempio per dire Leroy Merlin dicono "leroi merlin" e via discorrendo. Non ho ancora capito se è una cosa normale per un " hispano hablante" o se si tratta semplicemente di non conoscere il francese e l' inglese
In the UK when they ask you how are you they expect a positive super short answer such as very well, l am fine, just to get the conversation going especially at work...it's just a formality you don't have to answer the truth if you're not well....not sure what the Americans really mean - the Brits can be very polite but false...😊

Never paid attention to the sound of my p’s before this video. I suspect I pronounce them the Italian way most times. I’m going to puff from now on, it’s never too late!
This is one of the most difficult pronunce even I fear to say them because the wrong way create embarrassing situations. I think you have explained it in the best possible way. Thank you and please, forgive my mistakes 😅
This is just perfect! However no one dares to express this hidden evidency. I'm convinced since ages, that grammar brings to nothing, if not only for a correct official writing. I speak Italian as my mother language, and German as nearly another mother language because of my primary scool in Zurich and also French because of my law studies in Geneva. One day I became aware that I never think about grammar before speaking nor writing. It's almost the same for a skilled musicain who never plays by reading music! Well done Miriam!
Grazie per queste precisazioni, molto utili. Mi permetto di dire che il termine “plus” è latino e andrebbe pronunciato PLUS anche dagli inglesi e non PLAS, anche se non lo faranno mai.
Anch'io dicevo che parlavano troppo veloci 😁 Come credo di averti già detto altrove, riesci a razionalizzare i problemi che noi incontriamo con l'inglese ed è davvero molto utile!
Mi si arricciano i capelli quando sento pronunciare in inglese o americano alcune parole latine o greche. Come noi cerchiamo di pronunciare bene la vostra lingua, voi sforzatevi di pronunciare bene le parole dei nostri avi. Se non altro per rispetto alla nostra millenaria civiltà. Grazie🥰 🥰
Ciao, non penso che qualcuno lo possa intendere come una scelta politica. Penso sia una pura questione di piacere personale nel sentire un determinato suono, come accade anche per i vari accenti o cadenza dell'italiano. Comunque preferisco l'inglese americano, mi piace la pronuncia della "r" che non hanno gli inglesi e soprattutto per me il British suona così vetusto da non piacermi proprio. Diciamo che io "sfigato" e fortunato ho fatto sia alle medie che al liceo il francese (nella mia zona si usava così negli anni 90), quindi quando decisi per i fatti miei di imparare l'inglese scelsi subito quello Americano, per una pura questione di gusto personale nella pronuncia. A scuola penso che insegnino il British, dalla grammatica, alla pronuncia. Oggi però con la possibilità tecnologica di ascoltare tutto quello che si vuole, non si pongono più muri e paletti linguistici che ai miei tempi sicuramente c'erano. Tra RU-vid e lingua originale sulle varie piattaforme si può scegliere quello che si vuole nella lingua che si vuole. Ps...ho amato The Windsors su Netflix perché lì il British rendeva tutto ancora più comico e sopra le righe.
Hi Miriam! I’m an Italian native speaker but let me comment in English to be tuned to the channel mood :) They had taught me English in the way you described, and this didn’t helped with my language proficiency. I’ve learned the language more in a 3 month stay in UK at University than all the other years together. I clearly remember that I started to dream “in English” while I was there! I basically agree with your approach, but I’m afraid that it could not be enough, as kids today have 2h/week of English lessons, while when they come to school they have already been exposed to 6 years of Italian language 24/7. It can’t mimic the the learning process kids went through to get their Italian language skills, it would be just the equivalent of some months. Long story short: currently both method and timing are unsuccessful, your proposal would fix the method, but still the time dedicated to English at school is just not enough, there are not short paths, it’s just a matter of hours spent. The only successful approach I see is your proposal AND embedding English in everyday’s life, with movies, short talks and so on… Btw congrats for your lessons! Very well done and the added value to have a native Italian language coach is unique, to look from an inner perspective on mistakes that Italians do speaking English
You are absolutely right. This wouldn’t be enough! That’s why I published another video (before this one) where I explain that the number one reason why Italians aren’t fluent in English is because everything is dubbed in Italian so kids don’t have the chance to listen to English every day like they do in those countries where people are bilingual.
Great! A video is the visual and auditory recording on electronics devices of events of any kind and duration, than can be watched on computer and television screens as many times as desired. Thanks for your advice.

Comunque tutte le lingue in Europa derivano tutte dal latino e greco,se i Romani non avessero conquistato l'Europa penso che la lingua inglese,tedesca e francese ,a quest' ora tutte queste lingue non sarebbero nate ! E quindi tutto il mondo deve qualcosa a l'Italia!!
Of course I do agree with you. English should be spoken since we were little children. But this can only happen in bilingual family where there are parents speaking italian and English as well. In any other case is almost impossible if parents or other relatives don’t speak english currently. Always thank you for posting this very interesting videos.
