Welcome to my channel where I will be sharing my model making journey with you all. Its a humble beginning that will hopefully develop into something more substantial that will be both informative and fun.
@@stregasplasticcartel812 I really appreciate that mate! I'm 61 years old and want to get back to modelling, The last model i made was in my teens so wish me luck but there is so much info on the internet now to help one get along!
Late to the party, but thanks for an excellent build series of this kit. I've been wanting to do this kit, but the number of decals is putting me off... 🤣
Hi Les. Thank you! Neither. It was a NATO exercise being held over 2 or 3 weeks so we knew this aircraft was operating daily. A long drive but we'll worth it to hear those lovely JT3D engines howling away. Thanks again and hope all is well?
Who's a silly boy then, making a error like that😃😃 such is life we all make mistake in this hobby, as long as you do not beat yourself up over the error, the F4 is looking absolutely fantastic, I really enjoy any F 4 build videos, best regards from a Kiwi living in Australia 👌👍👌👍👌👍
That paint scheme is quite something. I phinished my Tamiya Phantom a phew weeks ago. It took me about 20 months to phinish. I lost my mojo for awhile and I just couldn’t get motivated to work on it. I phinally decided to just push on. It took maybe a month or so to phinish after I got started again. I think I was too focused on trying to make the perfect kit, and when it didn’t measure up, I got deflated. I’m so happy that I pushed on. It is probably the best result I’ve ever had. It’s an F-4B with USMC markings and a Royal Navy tail flash (aftermarket Dee-cals 😂). I even placed all the stencils which thankfully were not as numerous as your kit. Anyway, enough running on about my experience. Great effort on this kit. I may have to try that decal set. I’ve yet to find a solution that I’m really thrilled with, so maybe this will be the one. I appreciate your outlook on this hobby, and enjoy watching your videos. Best wishes from the Colonies.
Hi. Thanks for the comment. I see what you did there😂. Some times chasing perfection can cause more problems than it solves. I often go down that rabbit hole will varying degrees of success. Glad you have completed your F-4. I still have a good way to go with this one and can't rule out starting another in the meantime 😜
First off sir, for making suck a c--kup with your camera card, yoh should be forced to go out and buy another kit😊, as for the live or voice, you do what ever is easier for you, great video, I never tire of a F4 build, and never apologise for other events taking over from modelling, best regards from a Kiwi living in Australia 👍👍👍👍
Hey, so good to hear from you. Hope all is good down there. I think doing voice over is easier so it's less random rambling. Thanks for the kind words. Hope you enjoyed the episode 😊😊
Nice to see you back, I was just checking the other day yo see if I'd missed any vids. I do enjoy getting the landing gear on a kit but my favourite bit is peeling off the canopy masks .
Great video! I'm about to start painting a MiG-29 in ukraine digital camo with Foxbot mask set FM 48-002. Haven't figured out how to use them because there are in some masks different colours right next to each other within the mask, so to say. All these sections have been precut like in your mask but in my case there is not just one color, but several. Hard to explain but if you got any tips on how you would do this, I will appreciate it very much.
This is definitely on my list of kits to build. You've done a cracky job and thanks for sharing, looking forward to the next ZM F-4EJ. Hope you're doing ok?
Hi Al. Thank you for the kind comment. Things have been rough here the past few months but I'm hoping to get another video out fairly soon. Thanks again 😊
Your F-4EJ is looking good so far, ZM kits look pretty nice. I've just started an older Italeri 1/48 F-4E/F, not a bad fit but some soft details and raised panel lines. So long as you're still enjoying the modelling the next video comes when you're ready.
@@Al_Edwards Thank you, appreciate it. Actually your comment got me back to the bench today. I have been doing the metal work and it has almost driven me crazy, each aircraft looks different. I have also decided to completely re-work the fuselage paint. I wasn't happy with there not being any variation is the colour, looked too toy like. A new video will be out in a week or so I reckon
Hey @@stregasplasticcartel812 I do remember you commenting on the paintwork, similar colour to the plastic etc, totally agree. I look forward to seeing what you came up with. I'm just finishing a Fairey Gannett, I keep looking at the paintwork thinking I want to strip it and repaint it, but I end up doing that with most of the models I build, I'm never completely happy until completion. Glad to hear you got back to the bench. Have you got anything planned after the F4?
Hiya. Funny you say that about stripping the paint. I did exactly that yesterday to the f-4. I will cover it in the upcoming episode. I'm nearly at decal stage now on the fuselage, I'm almost to scared to start them as don't want to screw it up. Awesome news on the gannet. What a machine that is, only ever saw one fly. Hmmm next up... Thinking Tamiya F-14 in the sundowners colours.... I must be mad 😂
A bit of a late comment but I’ve only recently bought this kit in the UBM version.I did a search and found your build which I have now watched and made notes and will watch again when I hopefully start later this tear.
Oh I’ve ordered the Mig29-C from GWH. Do you have any links to the photo resources gou referred to. I’m a returning modeller as it looks like I’ll not return to work after getting covid badly and then last year I had daysurgery which left me critically ill and took a month in hospital before I could go home. I now need more surgery to try to fix the problem. The wife has let me setup in the dining room as I can’t get upstairs.
Hi Mark. Firstly. Very sorry to hear your not so well at the moment. I wish you a speedy recovery. I simply googled the aircraft and printed out the photos I found of it. Nothing more. Also just Google which aircraft type your building for reference. That's all I did. I hope your build goes well and look forward to hearing how you get on. Thanks again and I hope you enjoy the series.
The anxiety flowed through me watching you apply the first camo mask, quickly followed pure satisfaction when you removed the dark blue mask... Looking damn good! Definitely made my mind up with the next build,
Thank you so much for the very kind comment. I get huge satisfaction from inspiring people to get building or buy a specific kit and make it their own. Let me K ow how you get on plz
@@stregasplasticcartel812 Im planning on going with the flat gray color's BUT I'm going to add a little flare to the tail fin. I plan on adding the u.s. navy Sundowners rising sun decal instead of the ones provided, sort of a recognition of the WW-2 style
F22’s with drop fuel tanks. Wtf! Never seen them wear those. Terd must want to shit away as much money every flight he can. Those make that bad ass American made plane look so stupid.
We've had a pair of F-35's flying very low over our farm in the Yarrow Valley this week..they sound fantastic and like nothing else, often followed by a pair of Typhoons. I thought the F-35's were Raptors at first but I'm pretty sure they have a single exhaust outlet so F-35 right?
The Phantom is coming along nicely now. It is a beautiful kit, I've got one on the go as well. It's actually been put aside for a wee while but you are inspiring me to get going again. I have found that the tail planes are slightly warped, which is a bit of a pain. Anyway, keep up the great work and I look forward to seeing the next instalment.
Hi Martin. Thanks so much for your comment. It is a lovely kit, I'm glad I am past the internal stage and now onto wings etc. Enjoy your build and thanks again
Very informative, thanks for the video (and I am looking forward to other parts of the build). About the filling with sprue goo - I prefer black CA for that kind of job as I can't be bothered with waiting for sprue goo to harden and shrink usually. I like it even more for places I need to sand and rescribe after as the sprue goo takes ages to harden inside it seems (atleast for me).
Greetings my friend, the F4 is looking great, I am looking forward to the next installment, I never get tired of a F4 build, best regards from a Kiwi living in Australia.
@@stregasplasticcartel812 Correct, spring, but the weather here is not great, but such is life, parts of the country are still having flooding, take care and keep safe.
Great to see the latest episode of the series, really giving me some top tips for when I get round to building my own ZM EJ KAI, I have the "Go for it!! 301st" scheme in the stash, cant wait to see how this will look with all the vivid decals on.
Love the video as I have this exact same kit and also the Foxbait masks which when reading the instructions I couldn't understand at all what they meant or how to use them! Btw do you have a Instagram account for your builds?
Hi. Thanks for the kind comment. I am glad you enjoyed the video and hope it has helped you. I do have an Instagram account but it's not updated too often. It's 'strega plastic cartel'. Thank you again and happy modeling
@@stregasplasticcartel812 That's funny we are already following each other but yes you haven't updated since 2021 lol. I did see your Flanker build there. 👍
Hello my friend. Thanks so much for the very kind comment. Trust me you can do it. Its fun and looks awesome when you finally peel away the masks. Enjoy it and let me know how you get on. Thanks again
Just come across your videos and I have got to say they are some of the best I've seen. Very informative, great narrative and there is no showing 100's of pieces being removed from the sprue
Hi Shaun. Thanks so much for the kind comment. I am delighted your enjoying the videos. Welcome to the channel. I try to keep it light but informative. I too don't like seeing 100 of bits being taken off sprues etc. I'm trying to find the balance between being light hearted and accurate. Thanks again, really appreciate the comment
Hi Mark. Thanks ever so much for the kind comment. Means alot. Glad your enjoying the channel. A new video will be up in the next few days. Thanks again
