I first watched this video years ago, not long after I started playing Minecraft. I loved it then, and I love it even more now. Minecraft is practically unrecognizable compared to how it appears here, but none of it matters whenever I come back to watch. Somehow a old video using a old version of one of my favorite games is one of the most relaxing, calming, and soothing videos on the internet for me.
If you really think about it, Minecart Interstate doesn't even make sense. It's a rail, rail's aren't interstates. There's no exit ramps or on ramps. I basically lied to people's faces 14 years ago. But I also just needed a title to post the video and go to bed because I had class. 😅 Also Hi Bruce

Dxtory basically hasn't been updated in years and doesn't work on most modern games due to newer tech. Sadly, Dxtory just isn't usable most of the time.

I think I came across that model, but can't remember why I decided on the Trendnet one to be honest. Could be something as simple as choosing two units from the same brand in the end.
Actually turned on my server for the first time in a few months to sync my backups and got 9.6Gbps sustained read. Leading to about 1.07GB/s. Most of this video was about writing to the server since it's job is holding finished projects and backups. I don't edit off it or anything. But this is the fastest real SMB file transfer speed I saw.
This video was the first time after Indev I remember Minecraft really catching mainstream attention. It's insane it has so few views, as I remember this getting tossed up on Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, 4chan, etc... There's a clear defining line where this video was made, and Minecraft really took off. The nostalgia in this video is palpable.
This is actually the re-upload. On my original channel it's over 2million views. Because I got denied monetization at the time back in 2010 even though I got permission from Notch and Mindthings to monetize the video. So I decided to make a new channel and try to go into RU-vid content more seriously and do more with the platform as well as monetize the video with a reupload. Previously my old channel was just something I threw little experiments on without much consideration. Next year It'll be 15 years. I have thought about doing yet another "remaster" since I now use one of the fastest PCs around and modding and tools for Minecraft have gotten much further along. But many other channels have evolved the idea much further than I ever could. I don't have the time with my job to do a large project like that. I'd rather just throw computing power at making something pretty.
Crazy to think how much stuff has happened in my life since I first watched these. It's always nice coming back to the originals and this video to think about how much I've grown/changed. Glad these are still up :)

@@vtrandal I had an assortment, but it was what I had. Cat6A from my desktop to the 10Gb switch. Cat6A from server to the wall. Cat6 in the walls. Cat6 between the switches. I'm moving in a few months so maybe I can play with Fiber then.
The specific colors of the green foliage against the background in the Colorado scene was what I was aiming for in Acid Interstate V3. Glad to see this video format making a comeback, I used to muse about driving from LA to San Francisco just to film one of these in the California central valley.

I'm interested, since these are sped up so much, can you generally get away with lower frame rates? I'm thinking from the perspective of saving storage space because this must've been heavy.
This dashcam can record at 4K 30fps or 1440p 60fps. I went for 4K. Also using more frames and blending together gives the smoother look that I like. As if it's real motion blur from a long exposure. Almost wish I had more frames to make it smoother. Some sections can look noisier because of gaps. Smoother blur = better compression usually too Frame rate doesn't really affect the storage space of the source though since it targets 60mbps on the camera regardless.
talking about cinematics, check the game Satisfactory, a lot of the community creations there look amazing, and the latest update adds Unreal Engine's Lumen renderer which makes some shots look gorgeous!
@@SirCrest I skipped Factorio and went straight into Satisfactory 😅 (thank's to the "Let's Game It Out" videos) It's really well-made, and the studio is really (really!) good at communicating with the gamers. It's an early-access game where you forget that it's early-access due to its high quality.
I have a synonolgy 1821+ with a dual 10GB fiber NIC in each of my NAS and computer. Using multi-channel, I´m up to around 1.4 to 1.7 GB a sec because I´m using both ports at the same time. I´m using Ubiquiti equiptment
Which system are you talking about? The server shown in the video? Those are mostly SATA with some SAS 6Gbps thrown in there. For the SSD Server I'm planning, most of it is already SAS 12Gbps but being on 10Gbps only takes a two-wide stripe to be bottlenecked easily. But I do have access to a lot of super cheap enterprise SATA ssds I'm thinking of bulking it out with. Just putting a few M.2 NVMe drives would be easy. But I already have the SAS enclosure.
Tp link switches a priced very well. I like the managed ubiquiti stuff but their 4 port is a little rich for my blood right now. Maybe I’ll go for a direct peer to peer connection first to see if my in wall cable can even handle the additional bandwidth. After re punching down of course.
I feel like we're finally at a point where higher speed networking for the mainstream is finally on the upswing. These are silent and really efficient boxes. Sure you could find old enterprise stuff on eBay but you'd be dealing with a ton of power usage and noise. People recommended me the direct path option but because of the server not being near the network closet or near my PC. This was the next best thing. As for your cabling, you may be able to just negotiate down the speed to like 5gbps and it'll improve things a lot.

This and a few other videos like your's started my whole world in this game. I don't play it anymore, but Minecraft is the only game where I can look back fondly on the whole adventure. No regrets. Only emotion.
I went through the same thing as I wanted to make an homage to this but couldn't pin-point the name. I remembered that I liked the music so downloaded it on to an ancient laptop at the time and was able to find it and search for the song name +"Minecraft 2011" and found it that way!
