After 2009 the wings declined, they were still elite and playing good from 2010-2013 but by the way they were playing you could tell they were in the early stages of a decline
It isn't the fact Quenneville got fired since I personally did see it coming, it is the timing of it that was questionable. I mean I honestly knew his job security was in jeopardy and it is never good to see a guy lose his job for any reason but if the hawks really had to make a coaching change I would've waited until the half way point of the season to do it like i early or mid January 2019 rather in early November 2018 just 15 games into the season. Doing it after just 15 games seems very unfair to me. After 42-43 games would've been a bit more reasonable in my eyes but it is what it is. This video is quite funny though man lol
I’d say the most overrated tbh. Absolute giveaway machine.. people like to say that he is a defensive dynamo but his defensive stats don’t reflect that narrative in the slightest.
It’s unfortunate now because the Canucks are staring in the face of another rebuild with the trade rumors surrounding Boeser and you don’t know what happens with Pettersson. Bruce and JR did nothing to stem the tide in the bigger picture. At least you dunked on the Blues?
As a Detroit native and someone who's always lived in the metro Detroit area, I only watched the Red Wings in the 90's and early 2000's. I was growing up in the Probert/Kocur era and started going to games at Joe Louis with my dad when guys like Sergei Federov, Steve Yzerman, and Darrin McCarty were just starting to become big names in Detroit. I used to occasionally see Scotty Bowman at a local coffee shop called "Bean and Bagel" in Farmington during the 90's and I actually talked to Vladmir Konstantinov once after his accident when I saw his wife pushing him in a wheelchair in the Home Depot I worked at back in the day. They really made the community feel like we were part of the team so it was a lot of fun to watch them, all my friends in school had jerseys of their favorite players or some kind of octopus related Red Wings t-shirt. They were HUGE, and deservingly so with how good that team was in the later 90's into early 2000's. I was just glad to see them win 3 cups and get the best of the Avalanche at the end of that rivalry, that whole era of hockey is really nostalgic for anyone who grew up around here.
