Iv done it hundreds of times. It will only catch fire if there is a short between the positive and negative sides, for instance if you poked all the way through. Iv gone into more detail in the past

yeah the SSD will drain more battery. I would recommend to use an iflash adapter with an SD card for better battery life. And a 2000 or 3000mah battery as well if you can
Hello! I have a question. Do you have an Ipod nano 4th generation LCD frame? I started to open my 4th gen, and I messed up the frame in the process because the battery was pushing up on the screen. I want fresh hard drive for these, new updated ones. Hard drives last longer. You let an ssd sit for a year or two and it loses data, let a hard drive sit for 10 years it still has it all. They only sell ssd upgrades for these now.
if you type the hard drive model number in on aliexpress or ebay you may find a replacement. Or even just search for 2.5 inch zif hard drive you should find something
asking another question because i'm about to do this mod here pretty soon, i don't plan on doing the power switch mod, but does that mean the bluetooth board is going to be on even if the ipod is completely shut off? is there a ground point on the ipod i should wire up to to avoid that?
yeah it will be powered on at all times if there is no switch. I wouldnt recommend it as it could drain the battery past the point where it wont charge back up. You could cut a hole in the rear housing to mount a button although it may look to DIY. But you could also use a Bluetooth board that has the ability to be turned off by holding down the pair button. See my ipod classic 4th gen bluetooth mod to see how to do that. Or my speaker mod video i mounted a switch next to the USB-C board.
I love how so many people refer to that ipod model as the "Ipod Classic". That's definitely not an ipod classic... if I'm not mistaken, when those models came out, they were simply known as the "Ipod". Or to not be confused with other models, could be referred to as the "Video Ipod" ... then, later on, apple had released a newer model ipod under the name "ipod classic" which were just like the previous ipod-video model, but they featured the newer menu interface & came in either Grey or black & had 80gb or 160gb storage capacity's. Slightly different material on the front as well, more resistant to scratches & other damages... Regardless.... THAT Ipod, is a white 30gb pod video model, not the "Ipod Classic"

And the best part they probably didn't destroy the data on it. Because all the regions untouched by the dents will still be readable. Just do a format people just do a multi layer format just do an encrypted over right and resell the darn thing stop making waste.
