Thank you! Great stuff. Do you think focusing on dorsiflexion when running can improve the running form? And stop you reaching forward with the lower leg?
Paul, you may say this on the site, but how long should I work on a single cue, or can I work on many cues at once. I've had a lot of people try to help me, still can't get relaxed and balanced.
It’s a great question - it matters. He is more frequently injured and as a result of his movement patterns has to work harder for the pace he’s running. No doubt Kitata is fast and doing a lot right, but you can be elite and still be able to improve aspects as well.
BTW Paul, I was so intrigued by the marching matching drill I have signed up for your online content. Looking forward to working through the cues to get there.
Mental in terms of thinking through the technique change and being conscious of the shoulder position when running, but the actual change should result in being in the neutral physical position, which will slowly become part of your normal running technique over time.
An elliptical movement is not too far off but I wouldn't describe it as circular - in our most recent video you can see some footage of his arm swing as well. Normally I describe an ideal arm swing as a pendulum motion from the elbow, and Eliud is pretty close to that.
Haha maybe I didn't quite go to max! I actually think that the question you can hear was cut into the video from a little bit later, I definitely took some time to gather myself after struggling through that test.
Have the same issue with pain in my right hand side going all the way to the back. Will try the only forward swing and see how it goes and feels like. Great insight.. Wished you could put out more of this stuff in order to help many others who struggle with similar issues... Blessings 🙌🏼 🙏🏻
Brett and Paul, really liked watching this back and forth process. Loved how Paul was asking Brett how all the changes felt and was using Brett’s feedback to help guide his facilitation process. A prime example of a case study where enhanced body awareness and movement refinement has dispersed load and helped a great deal. Thanks for putting this out, fantastic work both of you!
I've been recently feeling sharp pains on my right shoulder at the end of every run, and I am 99% sure it's because I close my shoulder blades. Will try these tips soon, thanks.
@FixFilter would love to hear how you go! We also have a video up on hand position that may help as this is often all connected. Then in the online program we go more into depth on a cue on arm swing, scapula position and rib position if you are still experiencing any discomfort in your shoulder.
Great tips here I am starting a video series about training for a 50 km race in September. Seeing your video is really good motivation to keep me going. I'm looking forward to the next video
