I’m looking for an all around engineer boot for both a daily and motorcycle wear interchangeably. Any help is appreciated. Found out my Iron Rangers aren’t good for riding due to the toe cap but I love them. My Origin Coronado hybrids are perfect for summer riding and daily wear.
I find that the Iron Ranger is not ideal for riding mostly due to their mini-lug soles tend to not have enough grip. In terms of engineer boots, any Wesco boot is pretty darn good.
Typically size down 1/2 size from your brannock measurement. That being said, I highly recommend that you try a pair on if you can. I find the last to be very narrow. So, depending on your feet, you might want to stick with your actual brannock size.
@@themancaveclub Thanks and much appreciated. I contacted the folks at S&S and they also recommended sizing down 1/2 from Brannock. I pulled the trigger and will see how it works for me. I wish that I could try on a pair, but not reasonable in central Oregon. Keep up the great videos. You two do a great job and much appreciated.
You're comparing apples and oranges. The deck jacket is made for inclimate weather, extreme weather conditions which the army jacket is made for milder weather, hence the lack of water repellent and durable materials and insulation.
I was a late comer to vests, I always though what is the point of layering something over the top but not have sleeves? But sometimes you want to keep the shoulder mobility, sometimes to want to wear it under a larger jacket for that working man's waistcoat look. My favourite vest style is a shearling vest. Put a jacket over the vest and you can pop the wool collar over it to make any denim jacket into a sherpa style.
I have these boots. You should mention that horse hide is really stiff. It will take a lot of time in these to break them in. I also have the JLB deerskin. The deerskin is very wearable right out of the box
Vintage is trial and error... I think for trucker jackets it is still better than a new cardboard iron heart. Weird smells can be defeated with lots of washing, bleach, soaking... repairs can actually add to the look.
I’m about your measurements - maybe a little under 170 pounds. I recently bought their dyed coverall jacket in medium and it fits well. Some space for layering. Don’t want it too snug. I’m not certain if the denim coverall jackets are cut with the same measurements as the dyed ones but I’d still guess medium for you.
I have the green denim coverall jacket style from Tellason and I liked this jacket but you cannot find a sizing chart for this particular jacket on the Tellason page

With Iron Heart it's all in the numbers, ignore the tag size. I find I cannot size down to the work shirt from the westerns, the difference in fit is, for me, not that significant.
Love the channel but please change the name from Man Cave Club, it sounds so regressive and cringe. I’m not trying to escape women and talk sports. I want to learn about men’s fashion and I don’t need a “safe space” from the women I love. Y’all are so much more sophisticated than the name Man Cave Club. Just a minor complaint. I got black horsehide Horween Mr. Lou's last month.., I'm usually a 9d and got them 8d., like you mentioned you had.. they were tight at first but they're loosening up.. def smaller than White's 8d.. lol, but I dig em.. You guys pushed me to it haha
Good luck ordering anything from Wesco. I've been waiting 18 months for a pair of Jobmasters in my size and nothing special about them. I said that's my last order with Wesco, period. They are to concerned filling orders for their fashion hores. I probably have 8+ pairs of Wesco's. The super size ones are 1 pair of 36 inch shaft Boss and 1 pair of Harness in 36 inch shaft.
Sorry to hear that… definitely a long wait. But, it seems almost all bespoke boot makers are going the way of made to order boots. Some have longer waiting times than others. I missed those Attractions boots, now it’s at least a year waiting. Oh well… these are good problems to have compared to some.
Damn dude that sucks!! They have to be short staffed. No other reason to take that long unless they're simply taking their sweet ass time to make em'. I waited 8 months and 2 weeks for a pair of Nicks boots. I was pretty sure my brother's girl was going to have the baby before I got my boots,lol.
@@RogerLoera I checked the status in January 2024 and it showed they were being built. Two months later it showed they were in the production queue to be built. WTH is that? I am almost inclined to go back to the credit card issuer and demand a refund. Sorry Wesco the purchase order never made any mention of the wait time in January 2023. I told a friend let me put it in my will what to do with them after they arrive after I pass away. Not only that no email reply when I asked what was going on.
That’s crazy. Back in 2017, I bought a pair of Stock Wesco Boss engineer boots for $390 that arrived in 3 weeks. I did buy them for fashion/winter purposes but I never thought there would be such a long wait. Luckily they are all I need from Wesco. They will outlast me.
I’m really interested in the Wiesmade vest. Could you tell me if it wears smaller or larger than specs would suggest? I’m 5’10” with a 40.5” chest and am usually between a small and medium in most outerwear. I know the small is a 41 in the chest, which might be too snug.
Great video! Your The Flat Head is amazing! I recently had the privilege to visit Tokyo and I was surprised to see a Lewis Leathers shop as well as a Schott NYC shop there. I've owned two Lewis Leather jackets for about 20 years so I thought I would stop in to check out their store. They make some beautiful stuff for sure. When I was leaving I walked right by The Flat Head store! I had no idea it was there. I came really close to buying a jacket (it was $1,600 US with the current favorable exchange rate), but I knew my wife would skin me alive so I passed on it. I also visited the Schott NYC store. I still think it's amazing how the Japanese have taken to this mid-century (mostly American) style.... so cool. Anyways, thanks for the fun video! Thanks for the video. I would never do that with Brian's boots, but everyone is free to do what they want with their money. I would have sold them. I think it's the most expensive way to get a pair of custom boots, but hey, if the owner is happy, there is little to say, except that he enjoys them.

I like the stronghold chore coats…..they come in blue,green,cream,brown…..stronghold is based in California…..Lee 101 chore is nice….I like climax a brand out of Thailand very similar to iron heart
Isn´t it that Shinki gets shrunken by almost 30% during the tanning process? Which is why the leather has this honeycomb texture? I prefer the amount of texture seen on that specific engineer rather than the devil´s ones. I own a pair of M-43s and the natural CXL engineer. Once you get past the price point, clearly my favorite shoemaker.
Wesco runs a little big. Usually order 1/2 size smaller. But, I would highly recommend double checking your size. Pull on boots are really tricky. If you can try them on - that’s best! I actually made a mistake and ordered these too small. I don’t know if my feet are changing or what. But, I had to use a stretcher on these. The best advice I can give you is to take your brannock device size- and go 1/2 size down from there. You might even want to order your actual size… if they’re a little big you can always use an insert. Good luck!!
@@themancaveclubthank you that is helpful. I’m an 8.5D in the mister Lou and I’m being advised to go a 1/2 size down to 8D because the no heel last is 1/2 size larger. Just nervous being it’s a pre-order with almost a 2 year lead time. Did you go same size in the short stack as your mister Lou?
@@justinm7621Yes, I would go same size as Mr. Lou! You definitely don’t want your toe touching if the boots are too short. Best to go same size if your other Wesco’s fit you well. Let me know how you did!
The boot that I have that fits me the best is the Viberg 2040 in size 10E. I'm looking for an engineer boot that has a round toe. Normal instep. Any recommendations?
Hey Brother, I know Iron Heart Germany has a pair of 10.5 in their “custom” Boss boot available. I just got a pair from them. Nice old school round toe biker boot. Grab them while they’re still available!
Yes, I'm pretty sure it is. The only difference is the VP has zipper side pockets - Gunner does not. But' I'm sure you can order it that way. The Two Lane Brown-top is an exact copy, only in brown or black.
