I watched him when he was a Yankee. He swung at anything, no matter if it was out of the strike zone or in but usually out. He was a sucker for offspeed pitches, change-ups, breaking pitches and high fastballs above the chest. He killed rallies, he never moved men around the base, he often left men on base in scoring position because he whiffed more than anything else. Never saw a batter like him. Unreliable. And I never saw him try to make adjustments in his batting stance, he kept doing the same thing he'd always done, which made him very predictable at the plate. Pitchers could close their eyes and pitch to this guy and get him to swing at crap.
I used to take pitching lessons from joeys dad, Tony gallo he used to pitch in the majors himself i believe with the expos, but joey thru mid 90s in hs with a pro pitcher father so i can see why they thought of him as a pitcher but when i played against him he hit a 400 foot bomb over the houses across the street in right field with a wood bat 😂
What do Joey Gallo, Chris Davis and Rougned Odor all have in common? They came up to the majors under Texas Rangers hitting coaches. .150 batting averages and all rhe hits home runs
Great point on ‘walk inflation’. Add in ‘highlight bias’, fans create a mental model that doesn’t match the monotony of K’s and BB’s night in night out.
just like your entire existence. overrated since 1988? thats dumb as fuck. they win in 88 and not again until 2020 and they are overrated? best team in the regular season still matters. they are also going to be more healthy this year than last. dodgers haters are idiots who got missed by covid entirely. bet your mom would get on her knees for any dodger
You are not gonna tell me to “just forget” Yamamotos first start just because of what he has done after, that first start dictates a lot and for a lot of people he will be known for getting knocked around in his first start
the first start was in korea. not in america. so that first start where he got lit up isnt a tell of anything. dudes incredible, one start being bad and the following starts being much better, suggest the first start was a fluke and not the norm. his following starts showed what kind of pitcher he is. your comment in not accurate. fans arent experts on games they dont play. playing baseball as a child doesnt make anyone an expert as an adult
after going 8 innings giving up one run on the first pitch of the game? fans arent experts on sports they never played. if you werent pro your opinion on players in not ever going to be accurate.
Ignorant mob is losing the sight yet again. It’s amazing. Doesn’t matter if the Dodgers are better than you thought or I thought. I can care less if they win every single game from here. Last time I checked, West division title is not WS ring. Unreal
lets see when it comes this post season when the dodgers are healthy and nearly at full strength. dodgers are scary as fuck for every team. nobody who thinks az is going to do anything this year is thinking clearly or intelligently. az last year was no different than the giants winning 107 games and then getting knocked out of the playoffs. dodgers haters are fucking morons. dodgers never did anything to anyones team in the last 30 fuckin years. get the fuck over it
I won’t lie I was originally one of the ones who thought Yamamoto was bad mainly because the first few games he pitched and lost cost me my parleys on draftkings
betting on games is idiot shit. not smart. willingly throwing money away at bets is stupid. not intelligent. his first start was in korea. not america. his first start he didnt get smacked around. one start and then multiple dominant outings including 8 innings pitched his last start suggests people that think that one bad start was how hell be are incorrect. fans arent experts on sports tehy never played
@@nomercyinc6783 bettings won me over $500 lol yeah it was just a bad start but after being hyped up and having a terrible start of course people were gonna think he was trash
thats not likely in all honestly. he got offseason surgery to strengthen his elbow. he literally got a strip of elbow armor surgically installed in his elbow. they call it armor. its unlikely hell just randomly start breaking down after being healthy for the first time in like 5 years hes stated. fans/customers arent always right. they are only right in context of taste.
are you one of those idiots that thought they should have gone far with no pitching last year? this year its dodgers time to be good and healthy. what came before isnt a tell of the future.
@@nomercyinc6783 no I’m one of the idiots that laughed at them when they got swept by my team and if they spend millions and millions just to lose again I’m the playoffs would be the icing on the cake 😂
yeah. when they are injured. if they arent injured this year where it matters they wont collapse like they were expected to long before the post season. the team last year had no business winning 100 games and nobody expected them to win the ws. fan takes are idiot takes.
Whats insane is alot of fans, especially new fans forget that this teams always been an absolute unit. 2017 - 104 wins 2018 - 93 wins 2019 - 106 wins 2020 - 700+ win % 2021 - 106 wins 2022 - 111 wins 2023 - 100 wins In that span, they've made the World Series 3x and won 1. Have made the playoffs every year since 2013, won the division every year in that span minus 2021. Have made it at least to the NLCS 7x. Just the list of stars that have worn that uniform just in thay span is ridiculous. The # all stars, MVPs, and other awards achieved is insane
They are the best team money can buy. A far cry from their bankrupt days in the early 2010s. Being forced to sell was the best thing that happened to LA. The new ownership has invested several billion in payroll offering mega deals to every star free agent. Tbh, having only 1 ring during that span is underperforming, but it must be nice to be a Dodger fan. The $tars definitely are lined up and the luxury tax loopholes help too.
@wsol80 yea their previous ownership was absolutely decimated the franchise. Gotta realize that their first big free agent signing was mookie in 2020. Prior to that it was ENTIRELY home grown talent, resigning then current players, bargain bin pick ups, and trades. Since then their only big money signings have been Betts, freeman, ohtani, Yama, glasnow, and bauer.
if they can run paxton out there at 35 theres no fucking reason to run kershaw out their at 35. they pitched rich hill till he was like 40 and he still didnt retire when they released him
freeman isnt why players from other teams went to the dodgers in the offseason. ohtani is. ohtani betts will smith kershaw freeman were all in the yoshi meeting. theres a reason they gave will smith 100 million and 10 years. smith is one of the best catchers in the game. either league
I’m writing this on Monday 5/6/2024… Treinen returned yesterday and pitched really well against the braves. Helped the dodgers sweep them. Walker Buehler returns today against the marlins. I’m really looking forward to this game. Saw his first rehab game against the Tacoma Rainiers, pitched a solid two innings before kinda falling apart, but again…it was his first game back from Tommy John surgery so that was kind of expected.
Buehler will not start in the postseason, maybe in relief. Dodgers will play very safe with him coming off TJ. IMO starters will be Glasnow, Yama and Miller. If using 4 starters plug in Kershaw. I just hope our bat will get hot in October
