Should We Be Worried?

Yoshinobu Yamamoto signed a 12-year 325 million dollar deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers during the offseason. Fans around the league have been excited to watch him pitch and so far things haven't gone great. He had an 8.38 ERA and had command issues in his 2nd and 3rd games which started to get some fans worried. But in my opinion, Yamamoto got relatively unlucky and I think he'll bounce right back when the year starts. His strikeout numbers were really good during spring training despite the high amount of hits and walks he gave up which is a good sign too. How do you think his season will go?

I was sitting behind the plate at the start v. the Mariners. Not at all worried as a Dodger fan. Lots of change happening in this kids life, professionally and personally. Great video my man. As a Dodgers fan, it was disappointing seeing our “325 million dollar Ace” go out there and get somewhat tossed around, but it was understandable why. Not only was he adjusting to the different feels from MLB compared to the NPB, but he was also tweaking some things mid game in terms of pitching from the stretch. His strikeout numbers were elite which is obviously a good sign, and his breaking balls were some of the nastiest Ive ever seen. With all that being said I do think there’s a chance he starts off slow, but once he truly figures out the competition and pace of the MLB, the league is definitely in trouble. Again thank you for the video. Can’t wait to see this channel blow up

Of that soft contact, at least three, maybe four, should have been outs if not batted to Gavin Lux, who has had a ridiculous case of the yips (optimistically). That's not only extra outs, but tons more pitches and pitching with pressure. Probably not a bad thing to practice in Spring Training, but it definitely skews his numbers.

I really dont like oaying attention to spring training stats because of palyers are woking on things, getting in shape, building up for a 162 game season as most dont really go 100%, but having said that regardless of his amazimg stuff and potential this is the MLB these are pro hitters and can make an elite pitcher or an ace look silly. Its a new country for him, culture, language, food etc as well facing someof the best hitters on the planet. He has to adjust and he still is a rookie lets not forget first full mlb season. Just because you jave amazing stuff and throwing gas hitting 97-100, 102 woth the heaterr doesnt mean success especially in the MLB. Perfect example.of that is D Cease, an era over 4.5 got rocked, Strider got rocked last year woth his era at 3.8 H greene eith the reds amazimg stuff but gets rocked as well. Just a few examples that MLB hitters can rock you regardless of stuff.

I wasn’t impressed with anything major in his spring training debut. The announcers were raving about his performance, but I couldn’t see it. Supposedly the bottom drops out of one of his pitches, but it just looks like he spikes it.
