Welcome to my channel. Here you will find a mix of educational fishing videos, bee keeping videos, and underwater footage from my various free diving adventures. My aim is to promote conservation and clean waterways. I hope you find my content entertaining and informative, I'm always open to video suggestions so please leave a comment.
the best way to fish spoons, spinners, jigs is from shore, dry land. You will get double the bites within 10 feet of shore. Have had many coho bite as I am lifting the jig out of the water.
I can't say that I like the fishing scene there. The majority of people at the bridge are long leader flossing and some are outright snagging. The vast majority of fish getting caught are sockeye which are not supposed to be fished for at all. I get my news of the place second hand, but the gist is there are 4 or 5 chinook caught there every day among the 20 or 30 people trying. I don't call that good fishing.
I suppose it gets easier to find the queen with experience but what kind of tricks did you use at first to find the queen so easily? Or was that just a lot of editing? It seems like all of you bee keepers can find the queen in a matter of just a few seconds.
Over time it definitely gets easier. She is far more likely to be on brood frames where there is room to lay eggs and you start to key in on those. Also the queen moves in a kind of spidery way that is different from the other bees and she often has a circle of bees around her called a retinue.
Hi Petr. I’m looking to go salmon fishing for the first time this fall and I’ve learned a lot from your videos. I will likely be going solo at least sometimes, but I’m not sure what is the best way to net a fish when you are by yourself. Could you do a video on how you do it?
so whats going to happen in 2024 fall season? anything different? more people would be my guess. Better enforcement? I believe the problem is a monster far bigger than what a small number of enforcement officers can clean up from top to bottom big issues and general problems. So no change there other than surprise closures etc. Thankfully honest people post good info to help those that want to learn, thanks for that, and it can put a shine on the vedder to attract people that may otherwise go to smaller streams
There are long term trends. It used to be that any kind of snagging was not tolerated on the Vedder by other anglers. Lately I find that there are some places where everybody is doing it and there is no will to stop it. Check out Ebi Fisher's channel and his video. I stopped by that spot later in the season and the same thing was happening. ru-vid.compqbCnOLOYI0?si=mrfdd_w3K7FeX04Q
Small ones are there throughout in the summer, but the big ones are almost entirely above the fishing boundary. They are quite sensitive to fishing pressure and stay where they are mostly not getting bothered. All the bull trout are seasonal visitors, they come down from the lake or up from the Fraser to eat salmon eggs and fry.
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 6:23) Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. (Matthew 11:28-30) I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. (Luke 13:5) For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Romans 10:13)

You are correct. I don't remember ever saying anything about retaining wild coho, in fact I often advocate for not removing them from the water at all, just like wild steelhead.
@@petrhermanadventures9509 Nope, you never said that. I just wanted to clarify for my own knowledge as I will moving to the coast next year and am just getting prepared. Thanks.
Awesome video Petr, thanks for all the work put into the Vedder and trying to make it a better fishery. Congrats on the Steelhead season, I caught my first one after trying for a few years. Had to enlist the help of a guide from Pacific Rivers Outfitters, well worth it and for what it's worth I think guiding would suit you well, I'm sure a lot of folks on the river would appreciate the opportunity to fish with you! All the best.
Whatever people think about flossing, it's inappropriate to harass people that are fishing legally. Those who are against should direct their efforts at the authorities to change regulations. Bullying anglers will not achieve the desired results
It's most accurate to look at flossing as a legal loophole that circumvents the intent of the regulation. I don't mind people flossing, despite the problems I outlined in this video, but I have a huge problem with people snagging and will call them out every time. These fish belong to all of us equally and we don't need to tolerate poachers and cheaters.
Hey!! I had a question for you. You comment a few times about preserving the Vedder fishery. Do you think it's headed to being a fishery that no longer produces?? Similar to Capilano?
The fishing pressure on this river is enormous. We have a set of regulations that somewhat level the playing field and give the fish a chance. I'm referring mostly to barbless hooks and no snagging. If we get to a point where a lot of people are snagging, the balance shifts and the fish will be wiped out in a short time. As things stand now, there are some places on the river where almost everyone is snagging, but most places are ok. I'd hare to see snagging become the norm.
Always enjoy your videos and appreciate your focus on legal practices. I love fly fishing and basically only target trout and whitefish. Have seen many treat the whitefish as a nuisance and throw them on shore to die. Whitefish are a sign of a healthy river, they are a part of the salmonid family, and they are fun to catch on the fly.
surprisingly good to eat as well. Many people have a hate on for Northern Pike Minnow and can't tell the difference from a whitefish. Both species are a natural part of the ecosystem and should be treated with respect.
The gold reel is an Islander, the blue is a Luhr Jensen Legacy. The Islander is better quality, gut I prefer the feel and handle location of the Legacy. I broke one of the handles on the legacy, which is why I've been using the Islander lately.
Well said .I do look forward to your videos and do appreciate you informing others on some better fishing practices. Thanks and I’ll probably see you on the river petr
That's pretty good on the starvation stick. I found a few good spots, about 1/2 of those fish came out of maybe 4 spots, the rest were all over the river.
Awesome. I have found since the flood there is a ton of fishable water. Especially for the fly. Shouldn’t be saying this in July but I can’t wait for winter. Dying to get out again haha
Historically there were pinks all years but many years ago the even year fish crashed and were over fished just about destroying fraser even year pinks never came back
I must agree with you I saw an increase in snaging. Love what you are doing and appreciate your effort. Education is the key. Hope one day I see you on the Vedder.
This should be put as a Mandatory course on the website before giving away a salmon License! I don't fish the Vedder but I make sure to tune into your information videos.
we appreciate your time in these reports and videos. Even more we like that during the winter time those who know know ;) steelhead don't exist anyways. Def not worth your time if you want to get meat.
Yup, If I'm honest about the gas and tackle and steelhead tag, each hatchery steelhead costs me around $200. Maybe less this year, but over all the years for sure.
We need a good lesson of HOW TO READ THE FLOAT when coho bite because a lot of people missing coho bite! I know it's not only bobber down that simple! I just caught a Coho on Capilano River yesterday and the float didn't go down, the float was moving unusual and I set the hook, fish on!! We need more tips about reading bobber while coho bite!! Please 😄
@@petrhermanadventures9509 oh I know but we can't let that stop people from doing the right thing and at least attempting. Best not to get involved physically but take all the footage in the world. It's about all we can do.
Christ 50 steelhead. I hope that one day steelheading clicks for me. I was on the river alot last season and I didn't even get a sniff. I consistently catch coho but I just don't know what I'm doing wrong steelheading.
