Hi! My name is Maegen and I'm so glad you found my channel. I live in Nashville, TN and I have been married for 14 years to my best friend. We have two furbabies named Happy and Pepper. I learned to cook when I was a young girl standing at my Granny's side. She passed away when I was 13 and cooking helps me to remember her and feel close to her. I enjoy cooking for others as a sign of my love for them. I make What's For Dinner videos, grocery hauls, and cooking videos! I hope you enjoy and subscribe. You can contact me at maegenskitchen@gmail.com or you can find me on Instagram under maegenskitchen.
All looks good but I would be pretty annoyed if I had to make separate meals for different people every meal. My kid can't get away with skipping meals and neither can my man.
Are you serious, with what Publix charged you and what you alleegdly saved that haul would have been like $55?? For one pizza, a sauce or dresssing or condiment or two, some noodles (even though pricey noodles) and some ice cream drumsticks? I'd say the $27 or whatever would be not a rip off and about par for the course, no big deals but at twice the price? No way. That's insane. I work somewhere that is not a grocery store but we have a fair amount of groceries, don't carry all but we carry all these things and it would be about $22 to $27 normally, it would never be $55. Seems like stores like Hobby Lobby that are always 40 percent off on most things because they hike it double to begin with. Is what Publix is like. I love your channel, your variety each week adn even when you just don't feel like cooking, your simple or your I'm not cooking tonight. But saying you saved 1/2 at Publix as if that was not what the typical price would have been at any place that doesn't gouge I'm not falling for. They are just claiming what you saved over what they are CLAIMING they could charge instead AND they wouldn't have any customers if they did charge double that is all I'm saying...
Publix is higher than other grocery stores around me, but I don’t see it as price gouging. Publix is more of a “premium” grocery store, you know that going in. That’s also why I usually only get items, especially name brand, when they’re on sale and I don’t do my normal shopping there. I can’t justify the cost difference on our everyday needs. As I mentioned in the video, those Momofuku noodles themselves are regularly priced at $11-13. Not just at Publix, other grocery stores and even online. So half price actually is a really good deal for them. At my Walmart (which tends to have the cheapest prices for my area), the Home Run Inn Pizza is $7. I paid $5.30 for it at Publix. The Duke’s Mayo is $4.44 at my Walmart. I paid $2.84 for it at Publix. The Campbell’s soups are $1.26 each at my Walmart. I paid $.80 each at Publix. I wasn’t misrepresenting my savings and certainly not wanting anyone to “fall for” anything. I can only afford to buy these higher priced, name brand items on sale, so when I find them on sale, I like to share that with others.
Hi Maegan - our Walmart has been so low in stock of Chicken! We do have the opportunity to shop at the Commissary as my hubby is a vet. But, the Great Value Popcorn Chicken is very good. I air fried for 6 minutes and then put in wok with veggies, teriyaki sauce and sweet chili sauce..yummy.. Granny hugs from Biloxi, MS
Great grocery sales! I will have to check out our Walmart cold rotisserie chicken! The pork loin dinner sounds so good. In fact, all the meals sound delicious!
That’s sweet your hubby spends quality time with your brother. Your meal out looks so delicious! I’m in the pacific nw and we don’t have anything like those places.
I remember how a year ago you decided to leave your comfort zone in cooking to tackle recipes that seem to complicated and Asian was a big one .I'm so happy you found the confidence to do that now you can cook you and gary Asian when y'all want.❤❤❤❤❤❤
You're so sweet to remember that! I was actually just thinking the other day that I need to get back to that. I feel like I've been sticking more to what I know lately and I need to get back to trying new things.
Thanks for the pad see ew. I was one of the people asking about it. It looks easy enough, and living in Houston, I shouldn’t have trouble finding any of the ingredients. Thanks, Maegen! ❤
Love your channel and all your cooking inspiration! I need to come and Nashville and visit you instead of a restaurant, I think your cooking would be amazing 😊
I love sugar snap peas with ranch or vegetable dip but for whatever reason it has never dawned on me to sauté them! They look delicious 😋 will be trying them. Hope you have a great week
Hi Maegan - Today I made meatloaf for lunch. I just can't seem to get the taste I want. I use the basic recipe - pretty much like yours but I wonder if it is the hamburger meat itself. Do you think hamburger meat tastes differently than it used to?? Hubby says they are growing beef fast to sell and the cows are getting the same food... I am def going to try the Southern Biscuit mix. I watched "Collard Valley Cooks' use it with buttermilk and they looked so good. Hope you have a good week. Granny hugs from Biloxi, MS
My mom and I were just talking about this the other day. We were both saying how pork breakfast sausage from the store just does not taste like it used to. And how several items don't and we weren't sure if it's just because we are getting older, or if the products themselves have changed. It wouldn't surprise me that products are changing, because there's so much corporate greed. A lot of people think the crazy high food and grocery prices are because of inflation....and although there is some truth to that, the majority of it is greed. Companies want to do things as cheaply as possible so they can get the most amount of profit possible. I agree with your husband, they pump animals full of who knows what to get them to grow bigger and faster. So I'm sure that impacts the taste of the end product. Anywhoo, sorry for my little dissertation there 😉. Hope you enjoy the biscuit mix!
I like to use ricotta and cottage cheese, we like cheese! Whatever the measurement calls for, for each of them. Basically, double the ricotta cheese amount with both.We like it.
Love your ideas for Halloween! If my son comes down with his kids for Halloween, I will definitely be using your recipes! His wife doesn’t make lasagna so it would be a perfect excuse to make one!
