If you want to do a fair comparison, you'll have to bridge that 20 year technological gap. Get that 500 engine worked and you should have around 65-70 rwhp. The cool thing is that since these bikes are in such an anemic state of tune stock you'll still have a reliable machine with that kind of power on tap. Only thing is there won't be much point in a drag race as it'll smoke the 450 like it's standing still.

I started out on a 03 CBR600RR, no rider modes. I put over 36,000 miles on that bike and im still riding my R1 to this day. Worked for me, and I was just a lazy Nerd who played World of Warcraft everyday /shrug
Put my 4 stroke diesel by mistake after do days using I didn't the new thing happened that same smoke coming out I end open the engine and the diesel come out .same engine can start even 30 % compression. But don't do it

Try this again on a 4 stroke with the leanest jets they make, diesel AFR is 18-24:1 compared to gasolines 10-13:1. The fuel is running fine its just 2x the amount of fuel needed and with diesels slow burn its snuffing out the combustion.
Does your bike start right up with the choke pulled when it's cold? I have the same bike and when I want to start it I have to pull the choke hold the starter for 3 seconds then let go and wait 2 seconds then press starter again and it starts in 1-2 seconds but it starts instantly when it's warmed up. I see guys that just hit the starter with choke off an it starts right up. It still has the original gas that I got it with when I got it from the dealer so I'm hoping they didn't put the wrong octane gas in it or something stupid like that
I had an old 91 kx250 back when i was a young teen that i rode basically everyday alongside my buddies. The first day i brought it home and rode it the silencer fell off and for the next couple years i left it that way lol. Easily the loudest most nasty sounding bike ive ever even been around. And i straight pipe damn near everything! I miss that kx. U could hear it a couple miles away on peaceful country night. Cops hatedddd it. They couldn't catch me and even if they thought they could as soon as i turned the corner it would echo off everything so loud u couldn't tell which direction i went lol.
