You are supposed to use Racing Castor when running a 2 stroke on Alcohol,Methanol, Nitro or E85 so it mixes...that stuff will separate in the tank and carb and gum up the jets if you leave it any longer than about an hour.
Run the everclear mixture a little richer to the engine. Your throttle response is bogging out bc it’s too lean(too little fuel for the amount of air it’s receiving) you can do this by pulling the choke out a little until the engine wants to run decent. It’s alcohol and will eat up the brass jets in the carburetor. Alcohol requires 30% more of the fuel to be added. The choke way is the easiest without tearing the carb apart to richen it up by changing jets to a bigger size. Good luck if you wanna try it again doing what I said above.
Listen to this guy; your carb wasn't dialed to the gas-mix before anyhow, let alone alcohol. You could have raised the needle one notch or two to begin with. My 2-strokes hardly smoked, of course I rode them like they were meant to be ridden as well. Don't be scared of the clutch and gear them appropriately. KX's were and evidently are still undergeared; YMMV.
yeah my friend had moped that ran with e85... i think he had to up the carbs jets by 50% but he god it running lot lover with high cams and yeah felt more powerful(could be placebo) it was 110cc 4t engine in 70kg wet weight bike
Let's go! I have wanted this video for a while! I honestly think it would be better in a 4 stroke, so you don't have to worry about the oil separating. So yes, I do want to see you put it in a 4 stroke.
Alcohol will work in 4 stroke but we used a cooler plug than ghe book say's. Just buy the eight plug with the next lower number. So if its a GK6W buy a GK5W. Proper valve seats are needed because it burns hotter in the chamber. So i believe.
the stochiometery of ethanol is about 200% that of gasoline. you would need to put much much bigger reeds and run a colder plug. take some epsom salt, bake it at 350f for like 2-3 hours untl its rock hard, then add it to your alcohol fuel mix. it will absorb all moisture and the water wont form emulstions. ethanol is miscible with 2 stroke oil, its the water thats messing it up.
You need a pilot jet that's about 6-7 steps richer, a needle that has a MUCH richer taper (or sand the one in it by chucking it in a drill), and the main jet can either stay relatively close (10-30 numbers bigger) or need to be quite a bit bigger depending upon the needle. I've ran my draw-thru turbo setups on E85 and even with a wideband 02 sensor, it takes a solid 2 full days to get it right.

I felt good when my friend convienced me to change my clutch cable ( i dont know much about fixing engines or bikes ) but ya youtubed it and it was easy. I stalled it once I think I wasent used to the clutch being harder to pull back but ya if you learn and i love to learn about it you can fix things yourself and learn yourself with a friend and SAVE money big time because in Canada I think a bike tech guy is like 80 to 140 a hour or something. I just found multiple 125 2 strokes for sale for $1500- $2000. With Women and bikes it's better to have one that isn't perfect rather then not having one at all. Im assuming your young because compared to most toys, bikes are fairly inexpensive. Id recommend buying anything you can afford and riding. When your older you'll have the money but not the time to ride.
Higher compression dome, advance timing, and jet way up and it will likely have more power than you had on gasoline. Also, Klotz Benol racing “castor” oil mixes really well in alcohol…

i found your channel recently because im getting into dirt bikes and didn’t know how intricate they are. love the videos too. production quality is well above where your subscribers are at. you’re definitely going places edit: yes get high octane. love to see a comparison as i plan on running a 100+ octane mix when i fix up my 250 as standard. would be cool to see if 87 makes a difference
Put NITRO in a 4 stroke!! A 2 stroke would be great too, but I am dying to see this! The channel Cleetus McFarland just did this in a single cab chevy silverado and it started at 280hp, and by the end of the video it pushed 457hp!!! All from Nitro, and changing the timing lol! DO IT!!
Thing is burning nitro and making big HP requires burning unreal amounts comparable to gasoline. That would require probably a large capacity fuel pump, an ignition coil that you could weld with, and someone like Ronnie Mac to ride.

If you use klotz benol castor oil it will mix with alcohol. Ive had a cr125 running on methanol this way. Double up all the jet sizes and it'll run normally
You must run castor when running alcohol/merhanol. Mineral-based oils will not mix with it, and the oil will fall out of suspension in the fuel. Also, run some gasoline through the bike before putting it up for the night.

And you also should’ve adjusted the afr screw to run richer because ethanol has a a <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="541">9:1</a> afr instead of <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="841">14:1</a>
That's exactly how i figured it would've ran. You didn't drain the carb so it ran fine to start then once it started burning on the everclear it started running lean because alcohol needs <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="121">2:1</a> jetting.
I tried running a mild mix of E85 (1/4 tank) in my Yamaha WR450 and it dissolved the carburetor needle in 15 min that was made of plastic and the bike would not run anymore...
I can see this happening. We use to buy a pint ( I.believe at that time NC only sold pints , 190 proof if my memory is working. We make a gallon mixture with frozen lime juice and called it GGD. The first letter stands for Green. Garenteed to get you inebriated, cause heartburn on a level not known before, and leave you with a hangover that lasts two days feeling like someone was hitting you on either side of your head , occasionally moving to forehead with the round end of a 4 lb ball peen hammer while a marching cymbal band plays nonstop. I mean really , what did ya expect. You can stick a lighter to open.end laying flat and a flame a foot long lasts a second and never aim 6" away from a mans nipple and light or so I understand is a painful experience. Such person may try to drink more than 3 shares. NOOO.
I love the Dominator oil in my 1979 maico 450, it screams with this oil, the Bean oils that maico recommends is good and smells great, but it doesn’t pull hard, Dominator at <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="1921">32:1</a> pulls the elastic out of my underwear
So, from what I’ve heard the old class cause they used to make one of the KX 65 and the KX 85 and then there was the 125 and again I believe it might be in Yamaha or Suzuki had the 110 and then I think I’m not 100% sure, but Kawasaki came back out with his 112 and it kept up with all the 125s I think I’m not 100% sure but I have seen people beating and winning races on the 112s rather than the 125s just seems like that new technology play in the horsepower out delivered to the wheel
Most alcohol is close to <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="481">8:1</a> stoichiometric as opposed to <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="841">14:1</a> fir gasoline. Jet up! And need alcohol safe oil.
So I've made this comment before but glow fuel engines run on a mix of methanol nitromethane and 2 stroke oil. I don't know if methanol mixes better with oil or if it's just the special oil or both. But you can run alcohol in a 2 stroke with the right oil and as he said one re-jetting the carb.
That's pretty lame seeing as how Everclear costs close to $100 a gallon and produces only half the horsepower of gasoline. The premix oil probably made more horsepower than the Everclear. This reminds me of Wolfgang Von Goethe's famous quote: "There is nothing more frightening than stupidity in action."
I have my doubts that jetting mattered much. But that looked like way too much oil. Proper premix proportions are imperitive for peak performance. It's no surprise it ran exactly the same at first, since it was still running on the fuel that you didn't drain from the float bowl. I've ridden several miles without ever opening my petcock; just burning what was left in the carb.
Alcohol and chip fat was used as fuel all the time back in the day it runs fine just not properly also chip fat is for Diesels don’t try it on petty bike 🤣
