Seed was pretty trash in my opinion. Like we get it.. something is wrong with Charlie. I was 66% through the book and they were still just talking about how something was wrong with Charlie. It wasn't very creepy to me, and it seemed to just drag on.
Thank youuu❤ I felt the same way about this book but every book review I see on the internet is raving and hyping up this book. I feel validated rn. And this review was SPOT ON
Gothic horror you say? Eynhallow sounds interesting! You're the second person on RU-vid I've seen that hated Horror Movie with a passion 😂 I've never read that author's books, but I'm definitely not reading that one because I would probably hate it as well. What a waste of a good book cover. I love your lipstick color btw! (I'm currently on the hunt for a good red lipstick, so that's why I noticed lol) Hope you had fun at the comedy show!
Ugh what a waste is right!! The lipstick is a Bite beauty one I don’t remember the shade name. It’s actually a sample I got but I’m obsessed with it lol the comedy show was amazing!!
Maybe my tolerance for poo is really high but I keep waiting for Cows to get more gross. I feel like he could have done more with the details thinking Zola level. Again maybe my tolerance is way high. Love your channel.
Absolute agreement with Horror Movie. I used Libby and when I got to 40% thru I thought, there better be an amazing reason this film nobody saw has a cult following and big budget reboot (or whatever the major director called it). The aura to the film built a wall of disbelief that the story couldn’t climb over.
Please please don't feel like you have to finish books you're hating for a video - we appreciate a DNF rant over here too! Life's too short for bad books <3
Your review of “Horror Movie” expresses exactly how I felt when I read the overhyped “We Used to Live Here.” My reaction can best be summarized as “ugh…” I’m now reading the new Riley Sager and, 100 pages in, I’m so bored with that pedestrian suburban mystery that I may just DNF it. Going forward, I promised myself that I’ll go back to the basics and read only books from authors I know and trust. Go through their backlist and stay there, knowing that it’ll be a fabulous time.
Sooooo many people keep telling me to read We Used to Live Here. I’m very skeptical on hyped horror books now lol That’s exactly how I feel too I’m just trying to read similar authors right now
OMG if you read “We Used to Live Here,” I’m afraid RU-vid will block your channel after you post your review. 😂😂😂 If you enjoy those “what the hell is going on” books to then get to the end and realize that the author doesn’t know either, then by all means read it. The initial premise is creepy and interesting, but the story is not about that. It didn’t scare me at all. Perhaps the movie adaptation will be more compelling if there is actually closure in the end.
I have the same opinions about Horror Movie that you do. I listened to the audiobook and just talked about it in my June Wrap-Up video. I'm definitely interested in picking up Eynhallow and Because You're Mine. Great vlog!
Definitely listen to audio of horror movie. Because reading the script in the book is weird. However, when you do the audio, they have different voice actors for all the characters and it actually sounds like an old radio program. I tried to read it and I was like absolutely not.
I liked horror movie. Found it refreshingly different. I liked the post modernism when the script would break down the fourth wall. I do agree there was a lack of character depth but I dug the sense of dread throughout.
DNF'd Horror Movie, it bored me to tears. One of the new horror releases I've loved is We Used To Live Here by Marcus Kliewer, I think you would like it! The audiobook for it was great too.
so I haven't read Horror Movie yet, but just hearing Meg talk about it was so boring that I fell asleep in the middle of the review and had to re-watch the entire segment. that book sounds TERRIBLE. Horror Movie, Diavola, and Sally Rooney better make the year-end worst list 😂
I definitely want to read more of Wrath James White. I read his book Master of Pain and I could not stop raving about it. I'm so glad to see a book about BDSM where being kinky isn't demonized and where the author accurately represents the community. Him and Kristopher Triana are becoming my new go-tos for extreme horror/splatterpunk
Congrats on your Patreon!!! ❤ Just wanted to comment in solidarity that I also have social anxiety. I tend to join people's Patreon's, but then struggle to comment in live chats for book clubs because I get self conscious. 🙈
Thank you! Ugh I completely understand. I’ve isolated myself on a little island because of social anxiety so I’m trying to branch out but it’s scary!! I do okay with texting though it’s the live shows that are going to be scary for me hahah
I understand how you feel. I had 4 laparoscopies for endometriosis. The pain of endometriosis is terrible, and I wasn't diagnosed for years, so I thought that was how all women feel. Dumb, I know. I hope your surgery gives you relief, and that it doesn't come back. 💐 Vivian
Not gonna lie, you're the booktuber who I was hoping would do this one day cause you'd be such a fun host (kudos to pushing through your anxiety for this). Can't wait!
thank you for inadvertently kicking me back into my job search! i've been bummed the last 2 weeks bc i haven't heard back abt a position i really wanted, but now i'm on the hunt again cuz i told myself if you get a patreon i need to be there 💗 love your content & the tier names!!
I am so glad you finally did this. My Goodreads won’t let me comment on people’s post and there have been plenty of times where I’ve wanted to stop you from reading a book because I just knew you would hate it 😅 now I can finally intervene!
It’s been really fun to watch you evolve. I also have social anxiety (in large groups) and watching you… I get to laugh and feel heard! Congrats on Patreon!
oh! i have an idea 💡 I'll register 20 accounts for the highest tier, and vote for the shittiest books i can find 😂 then everyone there will be forced to read them 😂😂 🤣 yesssss, profit! 🎉
