Doesn't mean it's over. Maybe they've just ended it for now to be on the safe side. Maybe they can still work it out legally and negotiate something. Second scenario, the war ends, but yeah could take 1 year but also 15 years. Well, if sanctions last 15 years, BL32 might be over... In any case, it hits me hard for now. I only fly 3D and that's why I bought 3x BL32s in Q3 2023 but have only now got around to installing them. And unfortunately it's probably with 32.9. And according to ZoeFPV there are dsync problems and cogging with 32.9 and 3D. And BL32 is supposed to be the best for 3D and is also the only FW that has this soft spin direction change. Well, I definitely won't flash an AM32 on it because then you might not be able to get BL32 on it anymore. I'd rather buy new ESCs and keep my BL32 in the closet for now to wait and see what happens. (I buyed BLS ESC yesterday to replace it with BL32 if it has bugs). You can also see in the latest Chris Rosser video that BL32 can rev the motor almost twice as fast as AM32 ! And that is important for 3D. Well, 50% of my quads are under 5 inches and with BLS. So I had to deal with finding the optimal Bluejay settings for 3D anyway. I will now first repair my 2-3.5 inch copters instead of build up my first 2x 5 inch quads with BL32 as I originally planned for this summer.
Very interesting topics on this stream. Missed it live, but just sat down and watched it. Similar to a few commenta it does worry me how much of this hobby is going to get affected with sanctions, especially companies like motors, radios and even FC's. Currently stocked up on hardware for my rc plane incase. Lets hope i dont crash it too many times
Now that T-motor is banned in the us it affects more than just uas. Some electric cars had t-motors in them. Extreme flight used T-motor in thier high performance RC planes. They were the motor of choice for extreme speed wings. My question is what about FC controllers? What manufacturers that are compatible with inav that is not a potential sanctions target? A lot in videos from the front lines feature radiomaster radios and DJI headsets. Im afraid that this is just the beginning of a larger ban on drone parts and hobby parts for us that just want to fly for fun. I dont know of any drone part that we use that ISNT manufactured in china. These sanctions have the potential to be catastrophic to our hobby and now that they took out a leading motor manufacturer and software provider are there alternatives to Chinese parts available to keep us going?
I would recommend stocking up. Personally, I bought my products for the next two season 6 months ago. This is just the beginning. Side note, T motor is a shady company. I bought some ESCs directly from them. It turns out the website was inaccurate. When I tried to return , they refused and denied the inaccuracy on the website ever occurred. They DID update the website, and tried to use that change to show me it was never wrong, but they were so dumb they sent me a screen shot of what the website said BEFORE they updated. They still did not accept the return. Maybe they knew the ban was coming and their customer service reflected that.
How do you think drone parts can get banned? All you need to become drone part manufacturer is to buy some pick and place SMT machine set with oven that costs roughly 5K$. I dont understand is 5K$ a lot of money for business? I have seen America has a lot CNC machining companies. CNC machines cost few times more. Make your own electronics, reach to chinese manufacturers to give you board schematics. Then you can place orders for custom PCB designs locally, at least here in Europe. Also BGA rework machines are more affordable option. Those are meant for repairs mainly, could be used for small prototype production, not for quantities. Maybe do something if hobby really means so much to you. It definitely means a lot to me and I am steering to direction of actually doing something. Maybe turning hobby into business one day. Not yet, cause we can still buy and prices of components are low it would be hard to compete and get investment pay for itself. Hopefully i am not only one being in love with this hobby so much. We depend on China too much. I mean what exactly do you define as drone part? FC-s with Inav can also be used for RC rovers. If they gonna ban RC system (radios, receiver) Ban IoT devices also? Btw those use same Esp chipset as our hobby utilizes. Ban FPV system? Could as well install security camera with 4G modem, except delay, good enough for cinematic flying. And brushless motors? Copper coated wire, CNC machined alu housing, shaft, two bearings, C-clip and neodium magnets. That is the whole science. They gonna ban everyday materials or what? I know for companies who have motor winding machines. Can also wind by hand. It is not a rocket science lol. Unless gov somehow manages to ban chip imports (wont happen, wont shoot themselves in foot), the diy hobby wont die. I have seen a lot of such paranoid comments. Seems like a lot of fresh people in the hobby whose just started the hobby and dont know the origins (fixed wings, multiwii days) and didnt track its evolution over the years. Just went watching old FPV quadcopter videos from 2014. With Naze32 and ordinary PWM esc protocol, performance is good enough for kamikaze use on battlefield. Point is that kamikaze drones dont need fancy firmware on ESC-s and things like bidirectional Dshot. They can use ESC-s with Silabs FW, whose are widely used in every other RC category. You name it: RC cars, boats, etc. BLheli shutdown is pointless. I am not worried about software much, as most projects have been forked and downloaded multiple times. There is also mediafire and TPB. Long live FPV!
It's ridiculous how they use military usage as an excuse to shut down access to even Blheli_S. If the Russian/Ukrainian use Odrive or VESC in their drones, do they also have to shut down as well?
This same process - the same metaphorical "levers" - that was used to stop BlHeli AS can't be applied to Betaflight, iNav et al, but they can be shut down. Or more correctly crippled. Do you remember back to the 90s when cryptography export was still being under weapons export control laws? A gov can declare the firmare a weapon and control it like any other weapon. They have thousands of different levers (legal and illegal) that they can use against companies and individuals to stop or disrupt development, distribution and exports, They can go after the collaboration and distribution mechanism, like GitHub. And yes you can easily builkd your own central repo, but they can easy shit that down too. They can issue orders hosting companies or ISPs. They can go after key developers - poor Pawel IS probably on a watch list. It would not be surprising to me if Pawel was on a travel watch list or if his communications were undergoing a higher level of scrutiny - not neccessarily having a human read his comms, but maybe getting priorisited for scanning. They can go after retailers and wholesalers. They can stop components at the borders via customs. None of these methods are totally fool proof, although targeting key contrinbutors to projects and shutting down their distribution.collab tools would be very efffective. The fact that there are hundreds of thousands of people who could - if motvaited - work on those codebases doesn't help if they can't communicate and dsitribute their work. And of course we Kiss/Fettec users need to be really afraid - the only thing that is saving us is that Flyduino/Fettec/ALex's products are probbly too expensive for Ukraine/Russia to buy - as long as Betaflight/iNav anf free ESC firmware is available. Othewise the fact that there are comnpanies that own the IP for those firmwares makes them just as vulnerable to the same levers that shutdown BLHeli.
a business that has fallen under politics in principle cannot be good, high-quality and reliable! I would ask the inav developers to add normal icons for the osd dji instead of symbols, but don't say here that this is dji's task. while you argue with each other, we have to do it ourselves with each new release of inav
And of course one of my esc aren't being recognized and I have to reflash my 4-1 and i cant. I hope they come up with a solution because as of now I havea brand new esc that I can't use!!! Bullshit!!!
BS Heli is NOT doing this for the right reasons. they can always release their source code to the open source community but they're not doing that are they
China does not need BSHeli software, they have way more advanced sh** of their own. how long is it going to take the Russians to spin up their own infrastructure? two day? I bet they have something in place already, they'll just switch and improve. The people though are fkd because a corporation decided to cease business
I'm sorry but I just don't get it. If I'm buying a 1000 drones and I can save 4 dollars on an esc (these things are usually one way kamikaze drones) for a cheaper alternative - say... one that runs BLHeli S, I'd save 4 Gs in expenses. That's around 100 more escs. And I'm just pulling these numbers out the air as I imagine they are not buying them at retail price. It would be nice if they could set up a server in US where each account could update the software on 2 -3 escs a month.
This is so stupid that it’s impossible to even find words. You blame Putin for the side effect, but he is not the one imposing sanctions. These stupid sanctions only bother ordinary people. The conflict continued despite the fact that sanctions were generated endlessly, and they were so stupid that it was even interesting how someone had the brains to come up with such a thing. This only emphasizes the narrow-mindedness and inconsistency of some politicians. First of all, our hobby will suffer and someone will have a financial hole. I'm sure BH will just fork or change the code and use it under a new name.
@@FPVUniversity I understand you and your opinion about who was the impetus for this. But remind me who is introducing insane sanctions that do not solve anything for the conflict, but only bring problems to ordinary people.
Fizycznie trudno mi znaleźć coś do poprawki. Czy ustawienia dynamicznych filtrów by coś poprawiło?
@@FPVUniversity that's wise, next step - buy blhely32 licence owner company for cheap by Chinese, US or Russian company. But I think there is no big deal. There are a lot of other ESC software to do the job.
@@FPVUniversity Good, neither do I Pawel. I’m just a sarky git who lives in reality. Perhaps if more people knew who Vicky “cookies” Nuland and her crowd is then maybe the world would be in a different state right now. Sorry Pawel, not wanting to get political, our hobby should be free from that!!!
