Got to fix that tailgate track. At the end of the video I heard that cracking sound. They all made that horrible sound but if you worked on the track you can fix it and it will be as quiet as a church mouse.
We had one as a kid. Great car and absolute tank. Drove it to college one day and hit a very large pig. It didn’t make a dent. Also great driving through large snow drifts in winter.
Beautiful very good machine and useful ❤❤❤❤❤ but need to be perfect type hardtop sedan and a/c color in back in roof and refrigerator like toyota crown 👑 1985 in back back seats also lights yellow aerial in back infrontof made iron not blastic ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Model year 1970 was the first year for the Estate Wagon, it was based on the smaller LeSabre and came without the clamshell tailgate. 1971 -1976 was based on the Electra and came with the clamshell tailgate.
I had a 1975 Buick Estate Wagon in college, from 1982 until the engine blew up in 1985. Mine was even red with the "wood" trim! What a trip back in time to see this video - I'd forgotten how "red" the interior was! I just wish you'd popped the hood.
When I started driving in 1979 my mom and dad handed me down the 1970 Buick Estate Wagon. What a car that was I would love to have it again. Loaded with an 8-track player under the glove compartment and the 455 4-barrel V-8 engine.
You could order the optional forward facing 3rd seat for the 9 passenger wagons. Here's an image from the 1974 Buick brochure: i.ibb.co/r3WJgBC/74-EW.jpg
@@badboattail Thank you for the image from the brochure! If the 3rd row seat is forward facing do you enter it through the tailgate? We went to Florida in 1973 and rented a Chevy station wagon with 3rd row seat. I remember sitting back there, but I don’t remember what direction it faced. I guess it had to face forward like the Buick. I was only 6 years old at the time.
@@CH67guy1 You could reach the 3rd seat by folding down the righthand side seat of the second row. Maybe your family rented a mid-size Chevrolet wagon? Those had the rear facing 3rd seat with the step in the rear bumper and the regular tailgate. From the 1972 Chevrolet Wagons brochure: i.ibb.co/k3myRQz/1972-Wagon.jpg
If you are ever looking to sell just reach out to me because I absolutely love these cars!! I have been in search of a 73 or 74 Buick Estate Wagon for a long time now... Probably since my parents let my sister in law drive ours in 1996 and she destroyed it. I want my dream car back!!
stunning wagon! .. the wheel covers are very nice but the traditional chrome Buick rallye wheels would also look beautiful - this wagon appears to be fully loaded with every visible option available including cornering lamps and chrome front fender mounted lamp monitors. This was one of my favorite years for Buick styling - the grille and headlight design particularly
0:33 nice touch to have the Christopher Cross 8-track inserted into the fold-away radio dial. We had a '71. I am the youngest in the family, so I always had to ride in the "way-back". We had the lower end model with crank windows and no fold-up rear seat. I used to slip and slide back there way before you had to strap in your kids. But the way-back had advantages that I could trash talk my brothers or my sister and could still be far enough away from my father's reach back to slap us if we got out of line.
I see art in every corner - this wagon got a lot to tills , i’ll love watching more , to me like a nice movie without a ticket line, Q: does the tail gait come with any dirty things when opening and closing , or does they covered ?
When bigger cars are built Buick will build them!! Loved the interior shots including the often ignored third seat, the crown jewel of wagon flexibility and fun. The front split bench is also a hallmark of thoughtful engineering. Thanks.
