I had a 1975 Buick Estate Wagon in college, from 1982 until the engine blew up in 1985. Mine was even red with the "wood" trim! What a trip back in time to see this video - I'd forgotten how "red" the interior was! I just wish you'd popped the hood.
stunning wagon! .. the wheel covers are very nice but the traditional chrome Buick rallye wheels would also look beautiful - this wagon appears to be fully loaded with every visible option available including cornering lamps and chrome front fender mounted lamp monitors. This was one of my favorite years for Buick styling - the grille and headlight design particularly
This is a beautiful beautiful wagon. You are very lucky to have it and I hope you enjoy it! I read that the 1974 Buick Estate 9 passenger wagon was the Heaviest wagon EVER built. All the Wagons from this generation where the biggest ever built! I grew up with a 1976 Pontiac Grand Safari but I currently own a 76 Caprice Estate Wagon in the same exact color combination. (my exterior may be one shade darker maroon red) I would consider yours to be a Cream Puff/like new condition. I would consider mine to be Mint condition! Such a pleasure to drive and own. I get compliments everywhere I go from people from all walks of life. Enjoy it in good health!!
@Jack Napier Hey Jack. I'll believe you but I actually read it was the Buick. And minimally heavier. Maybe those fender skirts on the custom cruise caused it to be heaviest?? Lol OUR 76 Grand Safari had every available option and I thought that climate control caused the compressor to run unnecessarily at times? I'm happier with the standard set up in my 76 Caprice Estate + the second and third seat passengers get too warm so I keep the ac colder with the vents blowing up at the ceiling and towards the back.. My 3rd row passengers say they can feel it and are comfortable. Mine is kept mostly in my garage as a classic and I take it out on nice days but I often take it out when a lot of family and friends are going somewhere and decided to take only one car because I'm not a drinker... lol That third seat comes in handy often and my ac is ice cold.. But I do have a rebuilt engine, And at that time I splurged and had Everything new or if not available.. rebuilt under the hood. Cheers to these Wagons!!
@Jack Napier Yo Jack... I'm SO happy you shared!!! Wait until you hear this!! I commuted to a local college for 4 years with the Grand Safari. But commuted often with 2 friends. My one friends parents bought her a nice used 74 impala custom. It was that orange brownish color with a tan landau vinyl roof and you had to have the seat belt on for it to start. Lol... My other friend has a 72 Safari with that manual tailgate. It was very dark brown, no wood but very well kept. The only options were a roof rack, body side mounding ac am/fm radio and the 3rd seat. I loved the/your 74 and I was always a big fan of that green.. kind of like a soft avocado that was only available in 74 and 75 right? SWEET CAR so I hope you're keeping it well and appreciating it?? My Caprice Estate has the 400 4bbl and I feel it is very sufficient and quick. Our Grand Safari had it all including the 455 and even cornering lamps and interior door courtesy lights which I realized were options. I feel the Buick Estste even with the rally wheels is the classiest wagon, the Chevy wagons are a neat and concise and modern shape.. the custom cruiser is just too bloated and bulky but cool in its own way, and the grand Safari with the rally wheels was the sportiest. Ours was a yellowish cream color with the wood and the key colored rally wheels, and I was proud to drive it. My mom hated driving and would only use it for church and grocery shopping so as soon as my older brother and sisters got cars. I had full use of it and eventually my mother signed it over to me. I learned to drive on that car and passed my driving test on it in Jan 1978. It was always heavily simonized and garage kept. I stupidly sold it, dent and rust free 16 years later. A few years later I wasreally missing it and on a quest for another one but could only find a mint 76 Caprice Estate. I'd like to hear more about your 74 impala and 72 Safari If you're up for it Jack? Thanks again for sharing!! Cheers to YOU Man!! Kevin
@Jack Napier Oh..Jack.. my friend Mike put together a 70s GM video of wagons. Sedans, and, Coupes. My Caprice Estate is in there, near the end of the vid... says..." Kevin Lynch. New Jersey". Your green 74.. but 4 door is there and my friends 74 impala Coupe in her same color combination is in there too! I think you'll find this video KickAss!! To find it, Utube.. GM 71 - 76 B Body's... Mike McCoy OK Later
@Jack Napier YO JACK.. Awsome!! Georgious!! Beautiful Interior and YEP, that's the color I love and still do!!! God Bless it and You and Keep You both. Your 3 vids also popped up and I subscribed. Your 72 Safari sounded NICE, AT LEASE you experienced one of these Wagons and had one. And they WERE work horses!! My parents didn't have loads of money but bought top notch furniture and things an our Grand Safari was pampered as I pamper all my cars.. But I Do Take Off with my 76 Caprice to feel the 400 4bbl the way you Took Off with your 74 Awsome Impala Custom Coupe!! I would never do this but if you get a chance.. utube 76 Caprice Estate Wagon Burnout and look for a cream color 76 CEW Any further communication will be on your channel now so.. talk soon?
