Nice video. We even got a little tree removal with the excavator. The little chipper that could. I'm not sure the electric fence would work on a large section. It works on something like your smaller veggie gardens. It would be a lot of money to experiment. Feed the deer and then eat the deer. Deer are better than wild hogs, or farm hogs for that matter when they escape. Thank you for sharing. Looking forward to more developments. Don't forget to take time to enjoy the fruits of your labor.

Thanks Marc! I've been watching some of these food plotters who put up electric fencing around their acre with one line high and the other low. It works very well and basically negates browse pressure. Deer don't have the same perception we have and don't think they can jump the wires. Also if they are browsing and touch it they will most likely never come back. I toyed around with the idea but simply didn't have the money to put towards it with what we have planned for up front.

Thanks Sean! I'll most likely use all the sugar cane from this years harvest to replant and expand.

One of my favorite update! I know this took you a lot of time but the editing was great. I grew up on a farm and have never seen a disc used to plant, only to kill and till the soil. Way to think out of the box. If the oats produce are you planning to swath them and take to market or just till in? I have not seen a combine are you getting one?
@GrandOutdoors
@GrandOutdoors 3 года назад
Thank you Flyman67! I will most likely let the oats sit back there until they rot into the ground. It will prevent weeds and grass, prevent erosion, and fertilize the soil.

Good video Spartan. The new part where your equipment is stored looks like a hugh improvement. Could you install a water silo for grey water recycling?
@GrandOutdoors
@GrandOutdoors 3 года назад
Thanks Darren. I would have to look into the grey water storage to see how expensive it is. Not sure how much a silo can hold but I am going through around 40,000 gallons a month as is. That should drastically reduce soon as I am reworking all the irrigation out there and it will be winter. A well will cost $15,000 and the quickest anyone could get to me was a year from now.

On another note I have done some research and have found that I can plant an Apple tree that grows in my zone (Zone 3) it happens to be the best apple known to man "Honneycrisp" I know you did your research on a grower what is the one you went with?
@GrandOutdoors
@GrandOutdoors 3 года назад
The best apples here come from up in the mountains a couple hours away from me. It stays very cold up there which is where they seem to thrive. I had to specifically match the trees to my zone here which will limit what you can grow. I selected a type of Fuji for one and can't remember the other but was a necessary pollinator.
