Welcome to Praetorian HiJynx, with your hosts Praetorian and Jynx!
We're a husband and wife gaming duo that enjoy planting our bums on a warm cushy surface to play vidya games. If we can't play together, which is often the case (*sigh*+queue flashback to the good old days of couch co-op), we'll sit and add off the wall commentary to liven the other's gaming experience. Add a mic and hours upon hours of watching bars fill up and whatdya know? You've got yourself a RU-vid channel.
We'll upload at least one video every day, though most days we'll upload more than one. Many of our videos will feature both of us providing commentary, however some videos will only feature one of us. You'll easily be able to recognize all co-hosted videos as they'll have "P+J" in the title.
If you enjoy our content then please like/share/subscribe.
Don't worry, this dlc make evrything too easy, i mean, i just defeated the muslim for jerusalem with.. 1400 men. And a random muslim adventurer took the french kingdom.. Yep, evrything fine in my world. 😂
The 1 in 5 chance of getting a band of varangian veterans or huscarls isn't a bad request from norse patrons. I'd say norse landless mercenaries can build up a effective force easier than most and if you don't want to keep what they give you disbanding it isn't a problem
Really enjoyed the episode. Its going at a very good pace. I think you should invest heavily in men at arms before you get into mercenary contracts. You could also travel to Russia. You might get some good contracts. Maybe go through all the way to the Byzantine Empire just a suggestion though. Love ur videos. Mostly ur Ck3 content. Keep up the good work
Its great you are doing another CK3 roleplay series! Though I'm not liking what I've seen of landless gameplay. Seems like more pointless boring events and nothing else. Mercenary work is cool for a little while.
3:35 there was a dev log on steam, where they specifically elaborated on why they decided on not allowing landless adventurers to raid. They actually tried to implement it, but it turned out much more complicated, with many unexpected effects on all aspects of the game, also huge balancing issue, plus, affects incentives for playing landless vs landed. I dont blame the devs at all. After all it's a gaming company and they need to allocate their resources/manpower on projects that will eventually yield a financial return. They cant just experiment on and on and on, on different features that are complex, without actually making it work. This is where the modders come in. I have faith that a modder will eventually implement this.
Yeah I figured it was an issue with balance, as it's already quite easy to earn money as a landless character, and how do they stop you from just setting up your camp nearby, quickly raiding a territory, and then running back to your camp and disbanding your army before an enemy can respond. Unlike with normal invaders, the landless characters could easily raid the interior of your territory with ease. In addition, the devs want you focusing on the contract system as a landless character.
It runs quite well overall, much better than the PS4 version. It does have framerate drops in multiplayer though, particularly on horde nights. This is much worse for the players joining than the host.
9:10 imo the best approach to the roleplaying aspect of ck3 which I also try to adopt Follow the character traits but dont be bound by it. Our real lives are defined by those moments where we, ugh, have to do that thing that goes against our established personality/ideals because we have a responsability, duty, etc A shy king that regardless has a diligent attitude to his rulership will hold court, even if it stresses him out. This is even more realistic and narratively appealing because it creates tension, conflict and overall real characters that through the stress system ingame can develop vices and coping mechanisms, some better than others, and a few downright funny and crazy like a Christian going "fuck it, I'm only following the old testament now" and adopting Judaism, a real stress event option!
Yeah I think that's the best way to do it; more realistic and entertaining. I only rule out making a certain decision if multiple traits go against it.
Happy to see another rp series. Unsure how I feel about the DLC right now, maybe it will just take some getting used to. Kind of expected some more events in these contract jobs you are doing though?
Yeah again it seems like a CK3 DLC is launching with far too few events, resulting in seeing the same ones all the time. And there's unfortunately not much to the contracts. I was hoping to see more events overall with the change the scheme system and the agents. The administrative government seems really cool though, need to play around with it a bit more. And the novelty of landless play is quite entertaining IMO, though after 3-4 campaigns I assume it'll get boring.
@@PraetorianHiJynx I agree, the changes they made to the government aspect of the game was fantastic. But the landless character thing I’m just not sure how I really feel about it or if it’s what I was expecting but there’s definitely some cool stuff in there, I like that you can be a mercenary company. I’ll continue to give it a shot though and see if it grows on me, I guess part of it that throws me off is that it’s just such a different game with the landless stuff.
Lol, it's nice being able to provide input as the series is happening, but sucks having to wait for the next episode. I'm more of a binge watcher myself as well :)
Liked and Subscribed for the knowledge that is game is on the 5... I saw a video on it but it was recent , didn't know it was available on console, just thought it was a PC game only. great jobs guys!
I know all about him, It's not like I talked about all the landless characters available. I literally only talked about one on that start date, El Cid, because I've stated multiple times on the channel that I wanted to do a campaign with him at some point.
Love the new campaign, what happens when you die? Do you have heirs? Can you choose them, or is there some sort of succession, and if so is it impacted by your culture or religion?
Similarly to a landed character, your child will inherit the camp if die. However, there are two key differences. First, you can select which child inherits the camp. And second, only an adult can inherit. So if you don't have any adult children and there's no one else in your dynasty in the camp, then you lose the game. As if you don't have an adult member of your dynasty available, then the follower with the highest prowess will inherit instead.
There is a joseph tarchaneiotescharacter that spawns in 1066. 5 star general. What do you think about a pseudo Belisarius walktrough? Reconquring land to give to your emperor
Well we've already played as a Byzantine count on the channel. I do eventually want to return to the Byzantine Empire with its new administrative government and new events, but that won't be the next series (episode 1 to that series is already up actually).
I recorded this last week, but decided against releasing it when I realized I was catching a cold (or perhaps Covid again) and wasn't sure if I'd be able to cover the new CK3 expansion. After successfully recording a Vicky 3 episode on Saturday night, I decided to at least try to record the new series. Fortunately, I finished recording that last night and I'm editing it now, though it did take me four hours as I had to keep taking breaks due to the coughing and sore throat. So episode 1 of that series should be out some time this morning :)
Also wasn't there a subject tab or some way to see all of your subjects together? There are also new interactions with them, right? Like that request Greece sent us this episode to give them there own market is one such interaction. I'm thinking that we use the "support regime" interaction (or whatever the interaction is called that creates a lobby) with all four subjects that each has a pro-Russia lobby. Decrease taxes for Finland and Coursland, who have be loyal. Appoint Governor and Increase Taxes for Moldavia who hasn't been as loyal. Not sure what else could be done to Greece other than the market option. Also on a side note: Wallachia and Serbia are independent. That civil war the Ottomans had, made them fail a group of journel entries that results in Serbia and the Romanian Principalities becoming independent and there to be more likely independence revolts, such as the Bulgarians, in the Balkans to reflect how the Ottomans lost control over the region historically. Finally why aren't you building/investing in your subjects? They are in your market so I don't see what the problem is. One place would suggest investing in, if you can get it in this war, is the sulfur mines in Thessaly. If you are going to start up munition plants which need sulfur, correct? I don't know if Russia has any sulfur but I do know the state of Thessaly does.
Why build in our subject's territory rather than our own? We want to improve the quality of life for pops, not the pops of our subjects. It's not like our own economy is super strong at the moment, so we should focus on ourselves first. The only reasons to build in a subject's territory is if they have a resource you don't have or if you're short workers (not really an issue as Russia).
